Chapter 841
Chapter 841
Joe opened the box reverently. A grin grew on his face as he did so.
“It’s great. I love it.”
“That’s good,” said Skylar. Upon seeing his smile, she thought of how he was easily placated.
“Let’s go home.”
“Alright.”
After meeting her colleague, Natalie shopped with her for a while more. Then, they went to a barbecue restaurant where Natalie had a few drinks.
When they decided to head home, it was 1:00 am. Her colleague called a cab for her.
Natalie was a little drunk. She felt like she was walking on clouds. Perhaps it was because she’d been quite happy today.
Seeing Jeremy and how he was getting over their marriage was the best thing she could’ve envisioned. She’d also picked out Austin’s birthday gift, not to mention her uninhibited chat with her colleague after a good barbecue and some beer.
She hummed as she entered the elevator and continued doing so as she exited onto her floor.
When she got home, she tried twice to get her lock to recognize her fingerprint.
The door remained staunchly locked. Natalie wiped her fingers down and tried once more. Finally, she succeeded.
Just as she was about to close the door with a kick, someone pushed onto the door. Natalie turned around with a frown. The ground was spinning, and the lights weren’t on. She stared at the silhouette of the stranger and uttered, “Jeremy?”
Natalie rubbed her eyes and mumbled, “Why am I seeing Jeremy?”
“Your eyes have not deceived you. It’s me. Natalie, haven’t you been happy? You haven’t seen me since our divorce.” Jeremy drew in on her and closed the door. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
Natalie sobered up within seconds. She looked at Jeremy in bewilderment.
“You! Jeremy, is it really you? Why would you be in my house? I–I remember that we’d gotten divorced. Jeremy, you’re not my husband anymore. You’re like a brother to me.”
Natalie felt as though her brain was sloshing around in her skull. Her reactions were sluggish. She was intoxicated to the point where everything felt like a dream.
She beamed at Jeremy. “Smile! We’ve pulled ourselves out of the swamp of our marriage. Isn’t this something worth getting ecstatic over?”
Jeremy clenched his jaw. He was extremely pale. He glared at Natalie in her state of drunkenness.
He knew her too well. When she was intoxicated, her words were full of half–truths and delusions. What could be confirmed was she was genuinely wishing him and Helena the best after their meeting. She Teally didn’t care about him anymore!
“Natalie, have you forgotten what you said? You said we would be together till the end of our lives. I was the only man you’d ever love. No one else could come close. Have you forgotten all this?” Jeremy
questioned her angrily.
