Chapter 806
Joe leaned down and kissed Skylar. The kiss was both domineering and lingering. It felt almost like a punishment, growing more intense with each
moment.
They were so familiar with each other’s bodies that every sensitive spot gradually sparked with desire.
When everything calmed down, it was two hours later.
Skylar lay limp in Joe’s arms, feeling utterly drained.
The aftermath was silent, yet spoke volumes. The sound of their heartbeats. was particularly loud and rhythmic.
Once Skylar found her voice, she asked, “What are we now?”
Joe’s body tensed at her question. He didn’t respond immediately and waited at few minutes before saying, “As long as we’re not divorced, we’re still a couple. I thought you wanted this too.”
Skylar’s expression shifted slightly, but she didn’t say anything further. Shel was either truly exhausted or simply had no expectations.
Seeing Skylar’s silence, Joe’s gaze hardened. He wanted to say something but suddenly felt it wasn’t necessary.
He realized that he had been somewhat forceful. During their time together, he knew exactly how to elicit a reaction from her, and the underlying motive for his actions this time was far from pure.
At 10:00 am, a car accident occurred in front of Apollo Hospital. The accident. resulted in one death and two injuries.
The two vehicles collided, resulting in the immediate death of the cab driver. The two occupants of the private car sustained severe injuries and were. rushed to the hospital.
The cause of the accident was still under investigation by the police.
When Vera’s family learned that their relatives, Marlon Ruell and Hayden Slater

had been in a car accident, they rushed to the hospital.
In just three days, Denton fell ill and was hospitalized, and their relatives were. involved in a car accident.
For a moment, the entire Ruell family was tense. Outside the operating room, the Ruell family members were abuzz with speculation.
“Could this accident have been a deliberate attack on them?”
“Creating such a scene outside the hospital? The taxi driver lost his life. instantly. It seems like a straightforward accident. However, with the series of misfortunes happening to our family lately, it does seem odd.”
“Let’s not jump to conclusions. We should wait for the police’s report.” Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Vera’s face looked grim.
She suddenly recalled a phone call from Alexander to Denton not long ago. Alexander had said that the two antiques she had won at the auction were negative items and would bring trouble.
At that time, both she and Denton had dismissed it. Now, she wondered if the painting was a negative item.
The other antique was still at Ruell Residence. She intended to give it as a gift. for Buck’s upcoming birthday, but given the current situation, she hesitated.
As she debated whether to bring this up, she thought of Skylar. She nearly made a mistake–Alexander’s remarks were likely swayed by Skylar’s intentions, as she was interested in acquiring the antiques.
It seemed that Denton, Marlon, and Hayden’s accidents were simply unfortunate events.
“Vera, what are you thinking about? Are you worried about your Uncle Marlon and Aunt Hayden?” Vera’s mom, Penelope Weinstein, asked gently.
Vera had been looking worried lately. She had just returned from abroad, and now the Ruell family faced multiple crises. Anyone would be concerned.
Vera nodded slightly. “I hope both Uncle Marlon and Aunt Hayden are alright. and that Grandpa can recover and be discharged soon.”
