Richest Mogul 1209
Ned might want to toy with Skylar’s feelings, but he had to consider whether he could do so
“your boyfriend should be arriving soon. I won’the a third wheel, so I’ll take my leave,” Skylar said to Minerva as she glanced at the time
“Alright, let’s plan to meet up again in a couple of days,” Minerva replied.
“okay.”
As Skylar stepped out of the studio, she intended to take the subway when a car suddenly pulled up in front of her. The window rolled down, revealing Ned and Rosa. Ned’s intense gaze swept over her.
“Ms. Sullivan, where are you headed? If it’s on our way, we can give you a fide,” Rosa asked
first.
Though she seemed to be offering help, Skylar could sense Rosa’s reluctance to offer a ride
With a polite smile, Skylar responded, “Thank you, but the place I’m going is probably not along your route.”
“Where are you going?” Ned suddenly inquired.
Rosa’s expression shifted slightly, and she bit her lip.
With a smile, Skylar said, “I’m headed to the suburbs.”
They were likely staying at a hotel in the city center, which was definitely not on the way to where she was going.
Tonight’s team–building event was scheduled at a hot spring resort in the suburbs. Janine had booked two villas, allowing employees to bring their swimsuits and enjoy the hot springs before having a barbecue together.
Rosa’s eyes widened in surprise. “You’re not going to the hot spring resort in the suburbs too, are you?”
It was such a coincidence. Perhaps Rosa and Ned’s whereabouts had been leaked, which led Skylar to mention it on purpose.
She needed to investigate Skylar thoroughly. Otherwise, she wouldn’t feel at ease. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
Skylar was momentarily stunned by Rosa’s remark Just as she was about to find another excuse, Ned said directly, “Get in the car.”
Brian then got out of the car and opened the door to the passenger seat. It felt too polite to find another reason to refuse now. So, she relented.
Ned’s face was strikingly similar to Joe’s. Over the past three years, if it weren’t for looking at Joe’s photos, Skylar sometimes felt that Joe’s appearance was becoming increasingly blurred
in her memory.
However, ever since she met Ned yesterday, Joe’s appearance had been vividly etched into her memory again. It became clearer than ever.
Once she got into the car, she thanked Ned and Rosa. Then, she sent a WhatsApp message to Janine, letting her know she was getting a ride to the hot spring resort.
The journey to the suburbs typically took over an hour without traffic. But now the roads were congested, filled with traffic lights. The car moved slowly, stopping and starting, which consumed quite a bit of time.
The atmosphere inside the car felt somewhat strange, though Skylar pretended not to notice.
Sitting in the backseat, Ned watched Skylar with a stoic expression. He seemed cold and distant. But a thought crossed his mind–the passenger seat wasn’t the right place for Skylar; she should be sitting next to him in the back.
As soon as this idea crossed his mind, he was reminded of Rosa sitting beside him, making him feel a bit ridiculous.
He quickly withdrew his gaze, leaning back in the seat and closing his eyes. He raised a hand to press against his aching head.
Rosa noticed this and quickly turned her attention away from Skylar. She asked, “Ned, is your head hurting again? Do you need some medicine? If it’s too bad, we can skip the hot spring resort today and just go back to the hotel to rest.
Upon hearing Rosa’s words, Skylar glanced up but didn’t turn around. She felt a bit dazed and wondered if Ned also suffered from headaches.
That was quite similar to Joe. It reminded her of the Joe she first met.
As she got lost in her thoughts, Ned replied to Rosa, “No need.”
“But your headaches have been happening too frequently, and you often have insomnia. You really should take the time to rest.”
Rosa had initially been excited about going to the hot spring resort. Now, as she glanced at Skylar in the passenger seat, a wave of reluctance to go there washed over her.
