Chapter 1203

Skylar replied to Minerva, “I’m heading downstairs now.”

She put away her phone and looked at Aiken. “Let’s go.”

“Okay.”

After her earlier calm, Skylar felt completely at ease. They made their way down and took a

seat next to Caleb.

Caleb didn’t notice Skylar’s return. He was engrossed in a conversation on his phone. “Uncle John, I wish I hadn’t brought Skylar. You have no ideas. Ned looks just like Joe! I can’t see a

difference at all.”

John replied almost instantly, “Send me a picture. I refuse to believe there’s someone who looks that much like another person.”

Without hesitation, Caleb snapped a photo of Ned from the side. He couldn’t capture a frontal view but snapped a shot anyway.

He sent it to John, and just as he was about to type a response, he noticed someone beside him. Turning his head, he saw Skylar and quickly said, “You’re back? How are you feeling now? Should we leave?”

“I’m good. Has the auction started?” Skylar smiled back, her gaze shifting to the front. Staff members were already beginning to set things up.

Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted Ned talking to Rosa. Whatever they were discussing made Rosa laugh happily. Skylar quickly turned her gaze away.

“Yes, it’s started. Some attendees of the charity gala have brought items from their collections to auction off, and the proceeds will be donated. Uncle John has participated a few times before and has donated some items as well,” Caleb explained.

There was something Caleb didn’t mention. Because Ned was present today, many people brought out exceptional items for auction, far better than the previous events this year. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

Skylar smiled. “Great! Let’s see if there’s anything good.”

The auction proceeded quickly, with many people eager to participate.

However, she found herself somewhat distracted, finding nothing seemed that piqued her interest. Caleb seemed to feel the same.

At that moment, Minerva sat down beside her and leaned in slightly. She whispered, “These events can be pretty boring. How about we go out for a drink tonight?”

Minerva initially thought it would be just an ordinary charity gala, but she hadn’t anticipated encountering someone who looked exactly like Joe.

Minerva had never heard of such a situation before, only seen it in novels. It felt quite melodramatic, and she was worried that Skylar would feel worse seeing Ned’s face.

Skylar glanced at the time and agreed. “Alright, let’s go.”

“I’ll head out too. I’m meeting some friends,” Caleb said.

As they were leaving, Ned, who had been observing the auction items, suddenly looked over at Skylar. He noticed that her slender figure from behind seemed almost too fragile. It was as if she shouldn’t be this thin.

Half an hour later, as Ned and Rosa were about to leave, Rowan stepped in front of Ned. His eyes narrowed as he scrutinized him.

“Are you really not Joe?” he asked.

Rowan had been observing Ned from a distance. Based on his familiarity with Joe, he noticed that apart from the name and place of birth, Ned was nearly identical to Joe in every other way.

He needed to understand who Ned really was. He wondered if Joe had grown weary of the Martin family. Perhaps he had created this identity for himself, making it seem as though he –had died over three years ago.

Rowan felt as if he had stumbled onto the truth.

Ned maintained a stoic expression as he looked at Rowan and coldly replied, “I’m not. Move * aside.”

The authoritative tone sent a chill down Rowan’s spine. It was reminiscent of how Joe would have reprimanded him. Without thinking, he stepped aside, allowing Ned and Rosa to pass.

As Ned and Rosa walked past Rowan, Rosa suddenly stopped and looked at him. She said, “You

your all have mistaken him. I’ve known Ned for years. He is Ned, not Joe. I hope you and friends won’t bother us again.”
