Richest Mogul 1194

Two hours later, Skylar finally finished inspecting Hughes Residence. When she came

downstairs, several pairs of eyes turned toward her simultaneously, nearly asking all at once. Did you find the so–called cursed object?”

Skylar looked at Marvin and said, “The problem isn’t with this house. None of the antiques

here are cursed.”

“What?” the women exclaimed in unison.

Melinda immediately questioned, “Is it that you lack the ability to see it? We live here. How could the problem not be with the house?” RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only

Her tone was particularly hostile, carrying a sense of arrogant disdain.

Skylar merely glanced at Melinda before turning her attention back to Jeremy. “The issue likely lies with them,” she said, indicating to the family members.

No matter how others doubted Skylar, Jeremy believed in her. She had handled matters that even Alexander couldn’t. If Skylar hadn’t pointed out the possibility of cursed objects, many would never have realized that they had unknowingly brought one home, allowing it to

control their fate.

After hearing Skylar’s statement, Jeremy turned to his family members. “Uncle Joey, Aunt Melinda, have any of you purchased any accessories recently? Bracelets, necklaces, or similar

items?” he asked.

Joey frowned. “Isn’t it called a cursed object because it’s supposed to be powerful and dangerous enough to cause all these incidents? What does it have to do with some accessories we’ve recently bought?

“Who exactly did you hire here? Don’t bring this nonsense into our home.”

“Exactly, these things we wear are just accessories. We might wear them one day and not touch them for a long time after. How could they harm anyone?” Melinda quickly added.

Quincey’s mother also chimed in, “Yes, Jeremy, I think you’ve been swindled this time.”

Marvin’s expression darkened. If not for Skylar’s connection to Alexander, who spoke so highly of her, his face would have been even grimmer.

“Oh, you all seem to think you know everything. Fine, I get it. You don’t trust Skylar. If that’s the case, why bother saying so much? Skylar, let’s go. There are plenty of people waiting in line to see you. It’s a total waste of time for you to take even an hour or two out of your busy schedule to come here,” Caleb snapped in frustration.

Skylar nodded toward Jeremy. “I’ll transfer the money back to you shortly.”

Then she turned to Caleb and said, “Let’s go.”

With plans to attend the charity gala with Caleb tomorrow, she thought it was a good opportunity to look for a dress.

When she returned to the country, she didn’t expect to attend such an event. So she had only brought back a few simple outfits, and there were no evening gowns.

Jeremy’s expression darkened.

The rest of the Hughes family didn’t expect Skylar to simply walk away without even defending herself against their doubts. This reaction took them by surprise, leaving them uncertain about their previous assumptions.

Just moments ago, they thought Skylar was an amateur and a fraud, out to take their money. But now, seeing Caleb’s attitude and how Skylar didn’t care about their doubts and even offered to return the payment, they suddenly realized that perhaps they had misunderstood. “Wait, are you certain that the cursed object is connected to them?” Marvin asked suddenly.

Skylar, who was already at the door, paused and turned back to look at him. Although she didn’t have a great impression of him, he was still an elder and one of Alexander’s friends. Then, she glanced at Joey and the others.

“There’s a high chance that they are the cause,” she said calmly, but her words landed heavily on the ears of those listening, leaving them with a sinking feeling in their chests.

There seemed to be a sense of foreboding that washed over them, making them suddenly doubt their earlier skepticism.

After a moment, Joey seemed to have thought of something.
