Chapter 746
Skylar stopped smiling. She agreed and said nothing else after that.
Joe would probably be extremely busy. He wouldn’t have time to go home with her.
Since there was still some time until then, she would find an excuse to explain it to Janine.
After Steven hung up, he stared at the video looping on his phone. Charles had sent it to him.
In the video, Joe wasn’t smiling as Skylar. He was grinning at an unknown
woman.
The video had been taken down. It couldn’t be found on the original creator’s page, and many of the people who reposted it had deleted it as well.
Charles downloaded the video as soon as he saw it. If not, they wouldn’t be able to see it.
When he thought of Skylar pretending that everything was fine, he and Charles felt their hearts throb for her. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Charles said, “Steven, we must work hard so Skylar feels secure enough to leave Joe. We must be the ones providing her with a sense of security.”
Steven replied, “You’re right.”
Jenny was waiting in Martin Group’s underground parking lot. She had just gotten off work.
She had waited half an hour, but Joe didn’t come out of the presidential elevator.
Jenny had waited for her till she was nervous. She sent Joe a message and asked whether he’d gotten off work. She wanted him to celebrate her birthday with him.
In the morning, she received a gift from Joe, just like every birthday before.
The gift was probably not picked out by Joe personally; it was probably Paul who had done so. However, she could tell that he cared about her through the gifts.
Jenny wanted to give herself to him that night..
“Thank you for the birthday gift, Joe. Can you celebrate my birthday with me tonight?”
15 minutes had passed since she sent the message, and she received no reply.
Usually, Joe would’ve gotten off work by now. Why couldn’t she see him?
When she punched out of work, she’d seen Paul.
While she was frustrated by the wait, Jenny’s friend texted her, “I heard that Vera had come home. She’s the center of attention. There were rumors that
she was Joe’s first love. Would her return affect you?”
As if Skylar wasn’t enough, Vera had returned as well.
Naturally, she knew that Vera and Joe came from matching backgrounds. To the Martins, Vera was definitely a better fit for Joe.
To Jenny, they were both obstacles on her journey to achieve her dream.
“There has been nothing between Joe and I. It was just a rumor. In addition, Vera left Jipsburg at the drop of a hat. She had never come home. I’m su.e there’s nothing between them. They are nothing but rumors,” said Jenny. She did her best to keep her composure.
Her friend said nothing else.
Ten minutes later, she finally saw Paul.
Jenny immediately ran over and asked, “Mr. Ziegler, is Joe still working overtime?”
She had to admit that Joe was really working hard. Everyone had gotten off work. Yet, he had to continue working. He could’ve had a much easier life by giving much of his work to Paul.
Paul wasn’t expecting her to be in the parking lot, He asked, “Were you waiting
here for Mr. Martin?”
“It’s my birthday. I asked Joe to have dinner together,” said Jenny honestly.
Paul frowned. He said, “Mr. Martin got off work early today. He should’ve gotten home by now.”
“Did he get off work early?” Jenny’s expression changed.
Why had he gotten off work early just like that?
Today wasn’t a special day.
