Skylar sighed in relief and asked, “Didn’t you say you would be away on a business trip for two days? Why have you come home today?”

After being roused in the middle of the night, Skylar’s drowsiness had dissipated.

Joe hugged her and explained, “I finished my work early. I’ve just gotten off the plane.”

“Alright, have a good rest,” Skylar whispered. She said nothing else.

He’d caught a flight back home in the dead of the night. Joe must’ve been tired.

Perhaps it was a figment of Skylar’s imagination, but she felt like Joe was troubled. However, it was only a guess of hers. Maybe he was indeed merely exhausted.

Skylar fell asleep shortly after in Joe’s warm embrace. Joe drifted off as well.

When she woke up and saw Joe beside her, she knew what had happened the previous day hadn’t been a dream.

Joe got out of bed. He was wearing matching pajamas with Skylar.
