Revenge is Best Served… After Reborn

Hearing James's voice, Angelo nearly jumped out of his skin, almost tumbling down the stairs.

When he realized it was James standing before him, Angelo's shock deepened. "You got caught too?!"

Rick glanced at James, then at Angelo, and wisely stepped back, keeping his distance.

Seeing Rick retreat, Angelo felt even more convinced of his suspicions. James must have been captured and brought here too!

Without wasting a second, Angelo pulled James aside and blurted out, "How did you end up getting caught? What are they planning to do with you? How's your situation? Are they going to lock us up together? Should we pretend we don't know each other?"

Angelo fired off a barrage of questions.

Even though he'd only been here a few days, he'd noticed that everyone in this place was as sly as a fox, their schemes twisted more intricately than pretzels!

He knew he couldn't outsmart this bunch in their mind games!

"Let's keep my presence here under wraps, especially from Sophie, okay?"

"Why? Didn't you come back to Devonport because of her? Why do a good deed and not take credit for it?"

Angelo, visibly nervous, added, "And is it true that you killed your wife? I've been seeing it all over the news. I don't want to believe it, but knowing you... You didn't really kill her, did you?" "I did."

Angelo's eyes widened in shock. "You really killed Nichole?"

"Scared?"

Angelo scratched his head. "Not really."

Coming from the Pollard family, a wealthy and influential family overseas, he'd seen his fair share of violence. Though he hadn't been directly involved, he'd certainly

witnessed enough to not be easily

rattled.

"I might have to disappear for a bit here at Burke Estate. Please, play along and don't let Sophie catch on."

"Wait, play along? What do you mean?"

"Just be yourself."

As James was leaving, he gave one final instruction. "Don't tell anyone you've seen me."

Angelo stood there stunned, repeating James's words to himself after he left. Don't tell anyone you've seen me? Be myself?

The next morning, Sophie was

getting increasingly frustrated as no one from the police department had shown up at the hospital like they promised. She decided to go and inquire herself. But just as she stepped out of the hospital, there was Rick, conveniently standing at the entrance.

"Mrs. Costello, where are you off to in such a rush?"

"To the police station, to get some answers."

Sophie was about to step out when Rick blocked her path, saying, "No need to go, Mrs. Costello. James isn't at the police station."

"Not at the police station? What do you mean?"

"Our boss already went to the police station to inquire. We were informed that early this morning, James was taken away by the Burke family. By now... he must have already escaped."

With so many witnesses to the

assault, even if it couldn't prove James kitted his wife, it was still a massive Scandal for Burke International. At this point, if James didn't run, he'd be waiting for degal punishment.

"Escaped?" Sophie almost laughed in disbelief. "You're saying James escaped?"
