Chapter 972
Bea spoke with sincerity, but no one around seemed to believe her.
Odie paused for a moment, then asked, "Really?"
"Yes..."
"That's... such a pity."
Odie showed up out of nowhere, saying puzzling things that made Bea's heart race uncontrollably. Sophie, watching from a distance, was just as perplexed.
What on earth was Odie doing here?
Marian turned to a woman nearby, "Mrs. Costello, I'll go greet the guests over there."
Sophie nodded.
Once Marian left, Sophie put on her mask and deliberately walked to a spot where Odie could easily see her.
Sure enough, Odie spotted Sophie in the crowd and said to Jonah, "Jonah, we've made our point. It's time to go." "Yes, boss."
Odie turned to leave without even a goodbye to Bea. Bea's eyelid twitched; she had a feeling Odie's visit didn't bode well.
But what was the point of his brief appearance and sudden departure?
Meanwhile, Sophie had been waiting outside the hall. Seeing Odie step out, she blocked his path and said, "Mr. Odie, hold up."
Odie glanced at Sophie's outfit. She was dressed very casually, with a black mask and a relaxed cap, looking like she hadn't even bothered with makeup, her hair casually down.
She looked like she was here for a casual stroll.
Odie asked, "What do you want?"
"Mr. Odie, do you know Nichole?"
"Never met her."
"Then why are you here?"
Such an unusual situation surely hinted at something odd. Odie wouldn't waste his time coming to Nichole's funeral without a reason.
"What's it to you?"
Odie shot Sophie a glance and retorted, "Aren't you here to stir things up?"
Sophie asked, "Are you here for James?"
Odie countered, "Aren't you?"
Seeing neither of them planned to be straightforward, Sophie seriously proposed, "Alright, let's be honest

about it?"
"Deal."
Sophie insisted, "You first!"
Odie responded, "The Mintons and
Burke International have had
dealings for a while. Honestly, I have some personal business with
James, but I can't disclose the details. He went back home and disappeared on me, so I came to the funeral hoping to see him and clear some things up."
Business with James?
Just as Sophie was about to dig deeper, Odie immediately
interrupted, "Stop right there,/.net
what you're going to ask, but told you, I can't share the details."
"You..."
"Now it's your turn, why are you looking for James?"
Sophie, putting on her best serious face, said, "Well, I missed him. I came hoping to see him too."
"What? You missed him? Does Colby know about this?"
Sophie hadn't expected Odie to actually buy her story.
Feeling playful, Sophie patted Odie on the shoulder and said, "How about you keep it a secret for me, Mr. Odie? Don't tell Colby."
Odie's expression darkened: "Sophie, are you messing with me?"
"Oh, you figured it out?"
Hearing Sophie's carefree response, Odie felt like he was about to explode with frustration.
