Chapter 1138
"You..."
Odie found himself momentarily speechless.
Sophie had already wrapped her arms around Colby's neck, giving him a final wave goodbye.
Downstairs, Sandy glanced at Vanessa, who lay in a pool of her own blood after the fall. In the end, she walked over. Staring at her once-close friend, now unrecognizable, Sandy tore off a piece of black veil from the hem of her dress and gently covered Vanessa's face with it.
She had always considered Vanessa her only friend.
Even though she now knew that this friend had never truly cared for her.
But what's the point of holding a grudge?
It's just that she couldn't let go.
Sandy wiped away her tears, then followed Colby and the others out of the venue.
Inside, Odie glanced at the three who had already left and felt a surge of irritation. "Everyone's gone? Leaving me alone to clean up this mess? Is that fair?"
"Boss, I don't think it's fair at all. Why don't we also head back-"
Before Jonah could finish, Odie shot him a look. "Head back? And leave this place unattended? What about the people we've caught? You think we can rely on these clowns?"
The subordinates hung their heads even lower.
How many times had they been chewed out tonight?
Wasn't it enough already?
Odie irritably tugged at his tie.
He always hated wearing these things. They were so damn annoying, especially when he was pissed!
With his hands on his hips, Odie barked, "Search this place top to bottom! And you! Bring that old fool Daniel to me!"
"Yes, sir!"
His men quickly sprang into action. Jonah added, "Boss, Daniel's already here, waiting at the entrance."
"Then what are you waiting for? Bring him in!"
"Yes, sir."
It wasn't long before Jonah had Daniel brought in.
As soon as Daniel entered, he hurriedly addressed Odie, who was standing on the stairs. "Mr. Odie! I
had no idea my people would donet
something like this! Are you okay? Did you get hurt? If your friend got hurt because of this, my guilt would be enormous!"
Odie scoffed. He had always looked down on Daniel's wishy-washy nature. Walking down the stairs, he pulled out his handgun, a move that sent Daniel into a panic. In the next second, Odie pressed the barrel against Daniel's forehead and coldly said, "You've gotten bold, old man, stopping my people!" Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
"Mr. Odie! Please, calm down... I truly didn't know about this! I swear!"
Daniel was sweating bullets.
But Odie just smacked him across the face with the gun and then kicked him to the ground. "You didn't know? You're telling me you didn't know?"
Odie kicked Daniel in the chest repeatedly, leaving him gasping and disoriented. "People book your venue, renovate your place, and you tell me you didn't know? You've turned against me, you old fool!" Bruised and swollen, Daniel begged for mercy. "Mr. Odie! I was wrong! Please, Mr. Odie, spare my life!"
"Speak! Who booked the venue? Who gave you the guts to stop me?"
"I'll tell! I'll tell!" Daniel stammered. "It was... it was Vanessa. She came to me, offering all of the White family's assets she had inherited! I... I was blinded by greed. I said I'd help her this once, but I truly didn't know she was going after Ms. Sophie!
"Bullshit!"
Odie yanked Daniel up by the collar. "I ordered your men to protect Sophie, and you're telling me you didn't know Vanessa was targeting her? Do you think I'm an idiot?"
