“What are you doing? Let go of me. Let go of me!”
A strange man reeking of alcohol burst in from outside. Mayra was knocked to the ground, and the man kept tearing at her clothes.
“Girl, I’ve been eyeing you for a long time. Short on money, aren’t you? Let me take a look. Just a touch, and I’ll give you lots and lots of money.”
Mayra struggled. “If you dare touch me, my brother won’t let you off.”
The man smirked lewdly, his eyes overflowing with greed. “Stop pretending. I’ve been watching you for so long. Your brother drives a luxury car, right? He doesn’t want you anymore.
“If he cared about you, why didn’t he take you with him after making money? Or maybe… you’ve become his sugar baby? How many times have you slept with him? I’ve slept with so many girls your age, but not one has such soft skin as yours. Come on!”
With a rip, Mayra’s thin, short–sleeved shirt was torn open. Her fair skin was revealed. “You bastard! Let go of me!”
When the man leaned in to kiss her, Mayra grabbed a small stool nearby and smashed it on his head with all her strength.
The man screamed fiercely as blood gushed out. He glared at her viciously.” Damn bitch! How dare you attack me?”
Suddenly, he grabbed Mayra’s hair and slammed her head forcefully into the ground. With a loud thud, Mayra’s vision plunged into darkness. Her ears were ringing, and the pain brought her back to consciousness.
When he leaned down again, Mayra bit hard into his shoulder, causing him to scream in agony. She then kicked him away from her and quickly picked up the wooden stool again, using it to strike him in non–lethal areas.
She forcefully smashed it onto his stomach. When he was in so much pain that he couldn’t even scream, she targeted his head with all her strength. She continued until he was completely unconscious. She knew this man wouldn’t die so easily.
Panting, Mayra glanced at the figure on the ground. She brushed away the hair stuck to her face with her hand, dropped the stool, and calmly returned to the
room.
She grabbed her backpack and gathered her clothes, textbooks, and everything she needed to take with her, including the iron box hidden by the bedsid
Mayra quickened her pace as she entered the quiet alleyway, wiping away the tears that were streaming down her face with each step.
This time, she was truly scared–so scared that she even forgot to change out of her torn clothes.
Then, in the empty alley, she wailed.
She walked aimlessly, not knowing where to go. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
An old lady who had just come back from buying groceries saw Mayra in a sorry state. “Oh dear, what happened to you?”
Mayra retreated two steps warily, then hurriedly passed by. She didn’t trust anyone.
Right now, all she wanted to do was leave this place.
As she sobbed, Anderson was the first person she thought of. She picked up her phone and dialed his number.
The ringing went on for some time.
In her mind, she begged for Anderson to quickly pick up.
“Sorry, the number you’ve dialed is not in service.”
Mayra had forgotten that Anderson hadn’t called her in a long time. His
previous number had been deactivated.
Suddenly, thick, dark clouds drifted over the clear sky, and thunder reverberated. The downpour came unexpectedly.
An hour later, a police car parked outside the run–down rental building.
Holding a recorder, the police officer said, “Young man, you seem calm. What’s your relationship with the owner of this house?”
“I’m her classmate,” Gordon answered.
“Don’t worry. This guy will probably get two or three years in prison. He was in jail for three years for sexual assault before but was released not long ago. We didn’t expect him to commit the same crime again.
“Judging from this, the victim must’ve gotten scared and run away. Think carefully. Where else could she go? It’s going to be dark soon. It’s not safe for her to be out alone.”
