“Wait for me, Andy.” Mayra waited for Anderson to get into the car. Just before he closed the door, she slipped in as quickly as a rabbit. Then, she shut the door. “Andy, I’m sorry. I spoke too harshly just now…”

“Drive back to the mansion,” Anderson said.

“I don’t want to go back to the mansion,” Mayra objected.

“Get out, then.” Anderson looked at her with anger in his eyes, and she was too scared to say anything else.

The car started slowly, and Mayra could sense that Anderson was really angry.

However, she couldn’t understand why he was angry.

Was he angry because she had left the mansion without telling him? But she had explained everything on the phone.

Time slipped by, and it was already 8:00 pm by the time they got back to the Barlow mansion.

Anderson had remained silent for the entire journey. He ignored Mayra completely, no matter what she said.

After he got out of the car, Anderson strode off without waiting for Mayra. She grabbed her backpack and ran after him. “Andy, wait for me.”

When they entered the foyer and the maids saw that Mayra had returned, they immediately lowered their heads to busy themselves with their work. They did not dare to speak. The table was covered with a delicious spread, but it was already cold.

“Mr. Anderson, Ms. Sadler,” the maids greeted them.

When he went upstairs, Mayra grabbed his hand. “Andy, aren’t you going to ask me why I wanted to leave the mansion all of a sudden?”

Mayra pointed at one of the maids and complained, “When you weren’t home, they refused to let me eat anything. They wanted me to starve for the whole day, and they called me a shameless social climber who’s staying here because I’m greedy for money.”

An older maid who had been working there for several years stepped out and said, “Mr. Anderson, Ms. Sadler misunderstood us. She isn’t telling the trut

“Not long ago, you told us that Ms. Sadler doesn’t eat cold things, so we had no choice but to throw her breakfast out and prepare a new one for her.”

She added, “After all, Ms. Fisher chose all of us personally. Maids would never treat their employer badly.”

Another maid added, “That’s right! Ms. Sadler, you shouldn’t talk nonsense in front of Mr. Anderson.”

Mayra protested. “I’m not!”

The maids said, “Ms. Sadler, you’re accusing us of treating you badly, but we made all the food on the table for you according to Mr. Anderson’s taste. We’re maids who get paid to look after you. How could we behave the way you described?”

“Mr. Anderson, there are surveillance cameras here. If you don’t believe us, you can check to see if Ms. Sadler behaved the way we said she did.”

“I even tried to stop her when she left, but I failed.”

They were all conspiring together to frame her.

“Andy, it’s not like that. Even if there were cameras at home, they wouldn’t record what they said. Find someone who can lip– read and you’ll be able to see how they insulted me.”

Mayra regretted it. If she had known how much trouble this would be, she would never have come to the Barlow mansion in the first place.

Anderson waved a hand, and the maids retreated.

Soon, they were the only two people left in the vast living room.

Anderson’s cold voice rang out. His icy, handsome face was reflected on the shiny floor. “Have I been indulging you too much recently? Is that why you’ve been lying again and again? Didn’t I tell you that I don’t like it when you lie? Hmm?”

“I’m not lying at all! They were the ones who said I shouldn’t stay, which is why

I left. Am I in the wrong for that?” © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
