Revenge 65
There was a clatter as Emily dropped her cutlery. She picked it up quickly and wiped it with a tissue. “He was so adamant about pursuing you in the pas
Mayra said, “That’s none of your business. Just eat.”
Emily clenched her teeth. She wasn’t as pretty as Mayra was, nor was she as fair and slender. Emily had bought the white dress she was wearing at the market because she had seen Mayra wearing one that had made her look beautiful. However, it just made Emily look frumpy when she wore it.
She could never compete with Mayra, both in looks and in academics.
Mayra was just an orphan. Why… did people still treat her so well?
“Eat more, then! It must be hard for you to be all alone. If you don’t mind, you can come and eat with me here every day.”
Mayra took a small mouthful of food and asked indifferently, “Is this your home?”
Emily was actually stunned. “Huh?”
“Gordon said that I can come whenever I want. I even have a spare key. So… you don’t need to say these things to me,” Mayra said.
She leaned forward. “Emily, was that joke you made actually true?” Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
Emily was slow to react. “W–What did I say?”
Mayra put down her cutlery and looked up. “You said that if I wasn’t going to date Gordon, you would go for him. Do you like him too?”
Emily’s face dropped at once. She reacted quickly and said, “T–That’s impossible. I’m not like you. If I was caught dating, my parents would kill me!”
“Yes! I’m an orphan, and no one cares about me, so I can do whatever I want.” Being with Emily made Mayra lose her appetite.
In her past life, she had thought of Emily as her only friend and had actually been sad for some time because they hadn’t gotten into the same university.
Chap 65
Now that she thought about it, Emily wasn’t as innocent as she seemed.
Greta Linley was drinking the stew that Gordon fed her, and she heard the noise outside. She asked weakly, “Do we have guests?”
Gordon nodded. “Yep.”
Greta said, “It’s that young lady that you like, isn’t it?”
Gordon nodded and did not deny it. He only said, “I’m not worthy of her. She has a very accomplished older brother.”
Greta said, “Her brother may be accomplished, but so is my son. You’re still young, and you have a long way to go. You might become even more
accomplished than her older brother. As long as you work hard and strive to improve, you can become confident in your feelings for such a lovely young woman.”
Greta knew her son well. He had always been stubborn and obstinate… If he liked something, he would keep liking it…
“I’m full. You can go on and do your own thing. I’m sleepy too.”
Gordon put down the spoon. “Okay.” He carried the bowl away and closed the door.
Emily was cleaning up in the yard while Mayra was on the phone next to her, looking troubled.
The voice on the other end of the phone was male.
“Where are you?”
