Mayra said seriously, “I mean it.”
After Gordon paid the bill, they strolled around the area. Seeing many street vendors selling small trinkets, Mayra bought him a keychain made of obsidian. She paid for it when Gordon wasn’t looking.
She then handed it to him, saying, “Here’s a gift for you. It’s not expensive, but you must treasure it. I want to see you carrying it every day, just like I do with mine.”
Mayra took out the pink crystal keychain from her pocket which held the keys to Paramount Hall’s main door and Gordon’s room.
“Look, don’t they look like a pair?”
While they were around the Bund, they heard someone calling out. Mayra looked over and saw Samuel shouting at them from across the bridge.
Sydney was holding a helium balloon and wearing glowing bunny ears. She looked very cute. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Gordon looked away without acknowledging them and asked Mayra, “Do you want to go over?”
Mayra glanced at the old clock on the wall of the entertainment club, which showed it was 10:00 pm.
Anderson wanted her back by 10:30 pm, so Mayra shook her head and said, ‘ No, I have to go soon. Andy is waiting for me.”
A cruise ship sailed across the Bund, making a rumbling sound.
“Gordon, you go first. I’m very close. It won’t take long for me to get there.”
Without saying anything, Gordon bought a fresh flower crown from a passing vendor and handed it to her. “I’ll call you when I’m back in Belchester.”
Mayra removed her hair tie and let her smooth, shiny dark hair cascade down her shoulders. The wind blew her hair gently, and the strands of hair brushed against his fingertips.
She took the flower crown and placed it on her head. “How do I look?”
“Ms. Sadler, Mr. Barlow has other matters to attend to. I’ll send you back to the hotel.”
Mayra watched Anderson’s back as he walked away. He had already harshly put Hailey into the front passenger seat.
“Mr. Gorman, did Andy and Hailey fight again?”
