Revenge After rebirth (Mayra and Anderson)

“Ms. Sandler is already in bed at this hour. Lately, she seems to be afraid of the dark and keeps the light on every night.”

The door handle outside was pressed down slightly, but then Anderson

left without a word.

As Mayra heard his footsteps fading away, she breathed a sigh of relief. After applying the cream, she turned off most of the lights, leaving only the bedside lamp on. She then fell asleep within minutes.

Some spent the night awake while others, like Mayra, slept until dawn.

Mayra never stayed in bed long after her alarm went off at 5:30 am. She got up, still half–asleep, and went to wash up. When she was done, she went downstairs in her pajamas. By then, Anderson and Hailey had come

out from the master bedroom.

“Good morning, Andy,” she greeted softly.

Anderson adjusted the cuff of his suit jacket and replied, “Morning.”

The atmosphere between him and Hailey was strangely tense. Mayra glanced at Hailey, who was wearing Anderson’s suit jacket. Despite it being oversized, it looked surprisingly good on her. She gave off a casual

vibe.

Hailey’s face was pale, and she appeared frail. Noticing Mayra’s glance, Hailey’s raspy voice broke the silence. “Ms. Sandler.”

Mayra didn’t respond and headed to the downstairs for breakfast. The maids were bustling around as she ate her cereal. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.

When Anderson sat down, Hailey spoke up, “Mr. Barlow, I’m sorry for the inconvenience I’ve caused. I will leave you to have breakfast with Ms. Mayra. I’ll head to the office now.”

“Sit down,” Anderson ordered.

“I’d… rather not.” Hailey hesitated.

A maid quickly placed a set of cutlery in front of her.

“Didn’t you hear me?” Anderson’s tone was growing impatient.

Mayra chimed in, “Hailey, have a seat and join us for breakfast.”

Reluctantly, Hailey sat next to Anderson while suppressing her discomfort. “Okay then… Sorry for the trouble.”

Anderson reached over and smoothed Mayra’s unkempt hair, noticing the tangles. “What time did you go to bed last night? You look exhausted.”

“Almost midnight,” Mayra answered.

“You don’t need to push yourself so hard with your studies. You have to rest early,” Anderson advised.

“Got it,” Mayra replied. She didn’t dare to ask further questions about Hailey.

Her mind was restless. What about Isabel? Did Anderson really not care about her at all? Was he just toying with Hailey? Or did he have some other ulterior motive?

Despite her curiosity about Hailey’s situation and Anderson’s relationship with Isabel, Mayra stayed silent. She could never fully understand Anderson, not even after all these years together.

After breakfast, Mayra returned to her room to change into her school uniform. As she headed to the car, intending to sit in the front seat, Anderson called out, “Mayra, come here.”
