Anderson took his time to get up and lowered his eyes. A look of disdain washed over his face, and he growled coldly. “Get out!”
Immediately, Hailey sprang to her feet while covering her chest. “Yes.”
Standing outside the door, Shane saw her coming out and went in. “Mr. Barlow, haven’t you gone overboard by doing this?”
Anderson tugged off his tie and tossed it onto the couch. The cold air emanating from him thickened with every passing second and spread out in the entire room. Nobody dared to get close. “Find out who told her to return to Belchester.”
“It was Madam Sonia.”
When Anderson glowered at him with his icy eyes, Shane didn’t dare to say another word.
At noon, the last class was physical education. After changing into gym clothes, Mayra was putting her cell phone into the locker when Shane called her.
She walked out of the changing room and picked up the call in a quiet corner outside. “Hello, Mr. Gorman. What’s the matter?”
“Ms. Sadler, Mr. Barlow is having a headache again. I’ll be in a meeting in his stead. Later, I’ll send you a photo of the painkillers he usually takes. Please buy the exact one in the photo and bring it to the company.”
“But I have to attend gym class now. Maybe I can only be there afterward.”
Shane agreed, saying, “That’s fine.”
Mayra nodded. “Okay.”
She wondered why Anderson would have a headache out of the blue. Didn’t his condition improve after taking the complementary medicine?
Hwers, she didnt ponder over it too much
Turing a class, she ran three laps and did a physical test. The zemaining 20 minutes of the class was free activity. NôvelDrama.Org owns this.
In between classes earlier, Mayra had already figured out the spots in the school where she could skip classes. When it was time for free activity. she slipped back to the changing room secretly and got changed.
Then, she sneaked out of the compound by climbing over the fence at the back of the school. This height was not a feat for her at all.
After purchasing the medication from the pharmacy, she soon arrived by cab at the building of Everton Corporation, which was located only a few miles away from her school.
“Miss, how can I help you?” the receptionist asked.
Instead of directly saying that she was here to look for Anderson, Mayra said, “I’m looking for a man named Shane Gorman.”
The receptionist cast her a look of surprise. “You must be Mr. Gorman’s little sister. Are you here to deliver the medication? You look adorable. Hurry upstairs now. Mr. Gorman is waiting for you.”
The receptionist enabled access to the president’s elevator by swiping a card and sent Mayra straight to level 60.
Mayra stepped out of the elevator alone and found no one in the spacious hallway. The surroundings were as silent as a graveyard. She had been here countless times and knew that the end of the hallway was the president’s office.
Coming here again now felt surreal to her. She pushed the president’s office door open with ease and saw the man on the couch. Even when he was seated, he looked weary from the back.
