Revenge 109
Anderson had always been willing to spend money on Isabel
“Do you like the piano? If you do, I’ll give it to you ”
Startled by his offer to spoil her, Mayra hurriedly shook her hands. “No. Isn’t that your wedding gift to Isa? It’s not nice if I take it. Moreover, I can’t play the piano. It’s a waste to give it to me.”
“You can learn to play it. Should I teach you?”
“Andy, I’m not smart enough for that, so forget it. I’m done eating. I’m
going back to my room now.”
Anderson caught her arm just in time. “Put on slippers. Did you forget that you have cream on your feet?”
Soon, a maid brought a pair of slippers over. The soles were soft and comfortable to step on.
After Mayra left, Anderson set down his cutlery as well. A maid came forward to keep away the cutlery. “Mr. Anderson, Ms. Sadler only ate a little. Should we keep the leftovers?”
“Throw them out. We’re not keeping leftovers in this house from now on,” Anderson instructed.
The maid nodded. “Okay.”
At 4:30 pm, Shane came over, and Mayra was called to the study. In the end, she picked a mediocre, regular high school. It was decent enough, and the learning environment was suitable too. Overall, the learning environment among students wasn’t complicated or stressful.
“Have you made up your mind?” Anderson asked.
Mayra nodded. Anderson seemed satisfied with her choice because this school was close to his company. Furthermore, her previous choices were
rejected by him, so she wasn’t left with many options.
Anderson also wanted to sign her up for musical instrument classes, but she turned down the suggestion. She had learned it in her previous life, so she didn’t feel the need to learn it again.
Using her studies as an excuse, Mayra left the study. When she was at the door, she heard Shane saying, “Ms. Hailey will be back tomorrow. She has successfully accomplished the task you gave her.
“Nobody knows how she managed to convince the partner there and clinch a deal for an exclusive distribution for the next few years.”
Pacing to the windows, Anderson lit a cigarette, took a drag, and puffed out white smoke. “The fact that she could seal the deal proves that she’s capable. As long as she can bring benefits to the company, she can keep her position as my–assistant.
“Whether she has private or professional intentions, her ability is clear for all to see. She’s not any less than you.” Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
Shane lowered his head. “I got it.”
Hailey Barlow was not an unfamiliar name to Mayra. Going by status, Anderson was Hailey’s elder brother. After Howard eloped with Renee and found out she was infertile, they adopted a child from an orphanage; that child was Hailey.
Hailey’s position in the Barlow family was so awkward that she wasn’t
even considered a Barlow. After Anderson took over the reins in the
Barlow family, Hailey was assigned as his assistant.
Between Hailey and Shane, one was in charge of external affairs while another took care of private matters. Hailey was also Anderson’s right- hand person.
If Renee turned out to be the murderer responsible for Gemma’s death, Mayra reckoned that Anderson wouldn’t tolerate Hailey’s existence as he claimed.
After all, more than a hundred people from the Manchester household perished. In her previous life, Mayra also found out a secret of Hailey’s.
