Revenge 106
The sudden news of Mayra transferring to another school spread throughout the school, taking everyone by surprise, except Gordon.
Anderson personally went to supervise the transfer procedure. When Shane brought all of Mayra’s academic files and books from her desk to the car, she felt a little uneasy while seated in the back seat.
Raising a small request, she pleaded humbly, “Andy, may I go to Paramount Hall and visit Gordon? I’d like to say goodbye to him.”
Without looking away from the document in his hand, Anderson said in a deep voice, “Five minutes.”
“Okay.”
The moment Shane stopped the car outside Paramount Hall, Mayra jumped out and bolted in.
Shane asked in concern, “Mr. Barlow, will Ms. Sadler blame you after finding out the truth?”
Anderson was unfazed. “It’s undeniable that Gordon is a talent. If he’s
really that capable, Everton Corporation can accommodate him. It doesn’t matter if Mayra finds out that I’ve met him before this.
“His project will just end up as a pile of trash without financial support. Since he chose to turn down Everton, he has to bear the consequences of his decision. I’m not going to show mercy because of Mayra.”
Walking into the courtyard, Mayra saw that the door to Gordon’s bedroom was open. Her eyes darted in the other direction, and she found him feeding medicinal soup to Greta.
Greta coughed a few times and saw Mayra standing outside. “That’s enough. She’s here to look for you. Go to her,” she said in a weak voice.
Putting down the spoon, Gordon took a glance at the person standing in the courtyard and looked away. Then, he nodded and headed out, closing
the door behind him. “It’s hot outside. Let’s talk inside.”
Mayra shook her head. “No, I’m just here to visit you. I need to go soon because Andy is outside waiting for me.”
Gordon’s grip on the soup bowl tightened. “Okay.” Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
As Mayra struggled internally, she fidgeted with the hem of her shirt. After a long while, she finally decided to tell him, “Gordon, I’m transferring to another school. After what happened last time, Andy is worried another accident will happen. He’s decided to take me home.
“We won’t meet for a long time after this, but… will you wait for me, Gordon? Once I make it to college, we’ll be together. Andy has promised me that he won’t interfere in my affairs no matter what once I’m an adult.”
When Gordon was silent, Mayra grabbed his arm anxiously. “Gordon, don’t you have feelings for me too? Will you wait two years for me? Gordon …
Don’t fall for anyone else, okay?”
Behind her, someone urged, “Ms. Sandler, it’s time to leave.”
Gordon couldn’t promise her anything because two years was enough time for one to have a change of heart. Both of them were too young now, especially Mayra, who had a bright future ahead of her.
Too many things stood between them. In addition, they were never from
the same world.
“Focus on your studies in your new school and don’t skip classes. Go
home.”
“Gordon!”
After saying his piece, Gordon turned on his heels and left. Even when Mayra called his name, he didn’t look back.
Dejectedly, she returned to the car. Anderson closed the document in his hands. “The preparations at the hospital have been made. Tomorrow, Gordon can bring his mother to Candor City for treatment.”
“C–Candor City?”
Smirking, Anderson held her hand. “You don’t trust me and think that I’m purposely moving Gordon away, huh? Mayra, the best place to treat uremia is in Candor City. This is the only chance for his mother’s survival.”
Mayra hung her head low and had nothing else to say. Belchester and Candor were only two hours away from each other by bus.
