Chapter 65
Nesta’s POV
I sat on the edge of my bed, my hand still resting on my slightly rounded belly. The small bump was a constant reminder of the life growing inside me, and the complexity of my situation.ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
I didn’t have long to dwell on it before the door to my room burst open, and Nolan stormed in.
He stood there for a moment, his eyes locking onto mine, filled with a mix of emotions I couldn’t decipher. Before I could react or say anything, he crossed the room in a few quick strides, grabbed my face, and kissed me hard.
It was a kiss filled with intensity and confusion. My mind raced, trying to process what was happening. Nolan’s lips were insistent, almost desperate, and I found myself responding before I could stop myself.
My hands pressed against his chest, not to push him away but to ground myself in the whirlwind of sensations.
Just as suddenly as it had begun, Nolan pulled away. His breathing was heavy, his eyes wide with what seemed like disbelief
at his own actions.
For a moment, we just stared at each other, both trying to make sense of what had just happened.
“I’m sorry,” he said, his voice strained and barely above a whisper.
I blinked, utterly confused. Did he just apologise? Nolan, who had always been so guarded and distant, had kissed me and then apologised? The shock of his words left me momentarily speechless.
He ran a hand through his hair, looking as though he was battling some internal conflict.
“I… I shouldn’t have done that,” he muttered, taking a step back. “It’s just… everything is so messed up right now.”
I shook my head, trying to clear the fog of confusion. “Nolan, what is going on?” I asked, my voice trembling slightly. “Why did you kiss me? And why are you apologising?”
He looked at me with a mixture of regret and something else–something deeper that I couldn’t quite place.
“I don’t know,” he admitted, his voice breaking. “I just… I don’t know. I’m sorry.”
With that, he turned and left the room, leaving me sitting there in a daze. I touched my lips, still tingling from the force of his kiss, and tried to wrap my mind around what had just happened.
Nolan had kissed me–an act so out of character for him–and then had the presence of mind to apologise immediately afterward. Which is really shocking.
It didn’t make sense. Nolan was many things, but apologetic was not one of them. The fact that he had kissed me was shocking enough, but his apology was what truly left me reeling.
As the door clicked shut behind him, I lay back on my bed, staring at the ceiling. My heart was still racing, and my mind was a tangled mess of thoughts and emotions.
Nolan’s actions had thrown me into a state of confusion I hadn’t felt in a long time. He had always been a mystery to me, but this… this was something new entirely.
What did it mean? What did any of it mean? I closed my eyes, trying to calm my racing thoughts. I needed to focus, to understand what was happening. But the more I thought about it, the more confused I became.
Nolan’s kiss, his apology, the look in his eyes–it all swirled together in a chaotic storm of uncertainty. And as much as I wanted to find clarity, the trut
that I was just as lost as ever.

I lay on my bed, my heart still racing from Nolan’s sudden kiss, I felt a stirring deep within me. My wolf, Sofia, was restless. her curiosity mirroring my own confusion.
She had been silent for so long, but now her presence was strong and insistent.
“What is he up to?” Sofia’s voice echoed in my mind, a mixture of curiosity and wariness.
1 sighed, running a hand through my hair. “I have no idea. He kissed me, Sofia. Nolan kissed me and then apologised. It’s like he doesn’t even know what he’s doing.”
Sofia growled softly, a sound of frustration. “When he kissed you, I felt something… different. His wolf was calling out to me.”
1 sat up, my eyes widening. “What? His wolf?”
“Yes,” Sofia confirmed. “It was as if his wolf was reaching out to me, trying to connect. But before I could respond, Nolan blocked him off.”
I frowned, trying to process this new information. “Blocked him off? Why would he do that?”
“I don’t know,” Sofia admitted, her voice tinged with confusion. “But it felt as if there was a deep conflict within him. His wolf wants to reach out, but Nolan is fighting it.”
I bit my lip, pondering Sofia’s words. The kiss, Nolan’s sudden apology, the strange look in his eyes–it all started to make a little more sense now.
fhis wolf was trying to reach out to mine, it meant that there was something deeper at play. Something beyond Nolan’s control.
“Maybe his wolf senses something,” I mused, my thoughts racing. “Something that Nolan is trying to deny.”
“It’s possible,” Sofia agreed. “Wolves have instincts that sometimes our human sides don’t understand or want to acknowledge.”
I leaned back against the headboard, closing my eyes. “This is so complicated, Sofia. I don’t know what to think or feel.”
“Trust your instincts,” Sofia advised. “And trust me. We’ll figure this out together.”
I nodded, feeling a sense of calm wash over me. Sofia’s presence was comforting, a reminder that I wasn’t alone in this. Whatever was going on with Nolan, we would face it together. My wolf and I.
“We’ll get through this,” I whispered to myself, letting Sofia’s strength bolster my own. “One way or another, we’ll get through this.”
I lay there, Sofia’s comforting presence in my mind, a surge of determination washed over me. If Nolan was going to block his wolf from reaching out to mine, then I would do the same. I wasn’t going to let him toy with my emotions any longer.
“You’re right, Sofia,” I said firmly. “If he doesn’t want to connect, neither do we.”
Sofia growled in agreement, her spirit fierce and resolute. “We don’t need him,” she said. “We’re strong on our own.”
With newfound resolve, I closed my eyes and focused on building a barrier in my mind, a wall to keep Nolan and his wolf
out.
I visualised it, brick by brick, each one representing a painful memory, a betrayal, a reason to keep him at a distance. I fortified it with all the hurt and confusion he had caused me, sealing off any connection that might linger between us.
“There,” I said to Sofia. “He’s blocked off.”
