Chapter 23
Nolan’s POV
With Rowan and Nora now inseparable, their newfound bond leaving them constantly together, the weight of pack responsibilities had shifted heavily onto my shoulders.
As they immersed themselves in their relationship, the day–to–day operations and leadership tasks of the pack fell to me, demanding my full attention and dedication.
When all I wanted to do was hunt and hunt in the woods until there was nothing left for me to go after.
Each morning. I rose early, the sun barely peeking over the horizon, to address the countless issues that required immediate attention.
From mediating disputes among pack members to overseeing training sessions and ensuring the pack’s security, my days were a whirlwind of activity,
The duties were overwhelming, but I knew that this was necessary preparation for the day when Rowan and Nora would be crowned as the new King and Queen of the werewolves.
The council meetings were the hardest part. Sitting at the head of the long, polished table. I faced the elders and advisors, their expectant gazes faed on me. I hated those aged eyes on me.
They were used to Rowan’s leadership, but now they looked to me for guidance and decisions. I couldn’t afford to show any hesitation or doubt. It’s evident they are more scared of me than they are of Rowan.
“Today, we need to discuss the border patrols” I began, my voice steady despite the nerves twisting in my stomach. “With increased rogue activity, we need to double our efforts to ensure the safety of our territory”
The elders nodded, some more reluctantly than others, but they respected the authority I now wielded. I made it through the meeting, outlining new strategies and delegating tasks, my mind constantly rating to keep up with the demands placed upon me.
Outside of the council room, the pack grounds were bustling with activity. Warriors trained rigorously under my supervision, their movements swift and precise as they sparred and honed their skills.
I joined them whenever I could, my presence serving as a reminder of my commitment to the pack and my role within it. I mean, I’m known for my bad ass instincts and bunting skills. I’m the head of the patrol.
“Alpha, we’ve spotted a group of rogues near the eastern border” one of the scouts reported, his tone urgent.
I nodded, immediately shifting into action. “Alert the patrol teams and prepare for a sweep of the area. We can’t afford any breaches.”
Despite
constant
pressure and the sheer exhaustion that accompanied my new responsibilities, I found a strange sense of purpose in the chaos. This was my duty, and I was determined to rise to the occasion, not just for the pack but for Rowan and Nora as well.
They needed time to build their bond and prepare for their future roles, and I would ensure the pack remained strong and united in the meantime. They need this time for themselves.
In the evenings, I would find myself standing at the edge of the pack’s territory, the cool night air a welcome relief after the intensity of the day.
The weight of responsibility pressed down on me, but it was a burden I accepted willingly. The stars above reminded me of the future we were all working towards, a future where Rowan and Nora would lead us into a new era.
For now, I bore the mantle of leadership, my resolve unyielding. The pack’s safety and prosperity were my top priorities, and I would not falter in my duties.
Every challenge I faced only strengthened my determination. This was my time to prove myself, and I would not let the pack down. It is also a much needed distraction that I need.
I found Rowan in the garden, a serene spot filled with the vibrant colors of spring blossoms and the gentle hurn of nature. He was sitting on a bench, his eyes closed and a contented smile playing on his lips.
Nora was nowhere in sight, likely inside attending to some other matters. The peace that surrounded him was palpable, a stark contrast to the turmoil that had become my daily existence
“Rowan,” I called out softly as I approached, trying to keep the bitterness out of my voice.
He opened his eyes and grinned widely, the joy radiating from him almost blinding. “Hey, there you are! How’s everything going with the pack!”
1 forced a smile, trying to match his enthusiasm. “It’s been busy. A lot to handle, but nothing I can’t manage
Rowan chuckled, a light, carefree sound that only deepened the ache in my chest. “I knew you’d be able to handle it. You’ve always been reliable”
I sat down beside him, the bench creaking slightly under our combined weight. “Im glad to see you so happy, Rowan. You and Nora seem…. perfect together.”
He sighed contentedly, his eyes sparkling with an almost childlike glee. “She’s my everything. I can’t believe she’s back in my life. Every day feels like a dream I don’t want to wake up from.”
Hearing his words, my heart clenched painfully. To really happy for you, Rowan Truly. You deserve this happiness.”
He turned to look at me, his expression softening. “But something’s bothering you, isn’t it? I can see it in your eyes.”
I hesitated, not wanting to dampen his joy with my own struggles. “It’s just… seeing you so happy makes me realize how alone I am. I reunited you two, and I don’t regret it for a second, but it’s hard not to feel a bit jealous. You have your happily ever after, while I… well, I don’t”
Rowan reached out, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder. You’re not alone. You have the pack, you have me, and you’ll find your ownL happiness one day. Don’t lose hope.”
I nodded, appreciating his words but finding little comfort in them. “I know. It’s just hard sometimes. Leading the pack, dealing with everything It’s overwhelming. And seeing you with Nora, so content, it’s a stark reminder of what I’m missing”NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
That wasn’t true. I don’t want a fucking happily ever after. Not after I have found out who the moon goddess decides to pair me up with as a joke. A fucking Healer.
Rowan’s grip on my shoulder tightened slightly, his gaze earnest. “You’re stronger than you realize. You’ve kept the pack together, handled all the responsibilities, and you did it all without complaint. That’s something to be proud of
A small, genuine smile tugged at my lips. “Thanks, Rowan. I guess I just needed to hear that.”
He smiled back, a warm, reassuring smile that reminded me of the bond we shared. “Anytime. And remember, I’m always here for you, no matter what We’ll get through this together:
We sat there in the garden, the weight of my burdens seemed to lift slightly. Rowan’s happiness was infectious, and despite my jealousy. I couldn’t help but feel a glimmer of hope.
Perhaps, in time, I too would find my own path to happiness. For now, I would continue to lead the pack, drawing strength from the knowledge that I was not alone.
And spend my days in the harem.
