Chapter 80
“You are Malia’s daughter?…moons,” Abby whispers, her face morphing to one of shock and then recognition, like she could see the uncanny resemblance to Elise.
The twins, on the other hand, looked at Elise, as if that name alone brought enough bad memories to their home.
“I told you that this girl is dangerous if that bastard Dexton gets a clue that she is here-.
“-He won’t,” Elise cuts in. “Like I said, the monster isn’t my father; he killed my mother when he learned of her infidelity; he says it reminded him of the Calhan tribe wolves. And it seems my mother has a history with your pack, and I just want to find out who I am. That’s why I’m here,” she explains.
Dexton was right about the features of the Calhan wolves; they were most commonly born with black hair, but the special ones among them, the chosen royal blood, had been given snowy locks just like Hayden’s.
Though his brother Holden’s hair wasn’t as long as his, its buzz cut still showed his white- gold hair. “So please, I need an audience with your king,” she says.
“We still cannot let you do that; our father doesn’t fare too well with visitors, especially one. from the Silver Night Pack; he’ll have you killed, so I might just do it myself,” Holden
mutters.
“Heel, Holden,” Hayden warns.
“You do not tell me what to do because you are an alpha; in my eyes, we are the same, and you will not control me because of this weak she-wolf; my answer is no.” He bites back at Hayden. The room’s tight-lipped tension grew as both brothers locked gazes, only moving apart when they heard Elise speak.
“Then how about I have a duel with you? If I win, I will be able to see the king, no question asked.” She cuts in, and both brothers whirl their gazes at her.
Holden glares with anger, while Hayden’s face holds surprise and pride for this feisty yet petite redhead who isn’t afraid to stand her ground.
“You have a lot of nerves thinking you can fight me, woman.” Holden snarls at Elise, but she doesn’t back away; she is more than serious with her request to fight him.
“I’m not lying; if I win, I must see the king,” she says to Holden. He looks at Hayden, who shrugs his shoulders, leaving the decision to his brother, but Hayden knows his brother all
www.well and knows his pride is already lubed, he would accept it.

“WX more sloppy to fight a wounded wolf, so give her time to heal, brother,” Hayden says, wung Holden ott.
“Don’t cry when I do win, girl” Holden mut
The spat in his tone as he faced Elise once
“You won’t be saying that when I’m done with you,” he warns as he backs away from the room. Bring her to the ring by dusk,” he tells Hayden before he leaves, Elise lets out the breath she’s been holding, her body shuddering in distress.
bysm what she read, shadow wolves are extremely powerful, from their technique to their physique, and their fighting ability is proficient, but they weren’t sure Holden was a shadow wolt. She knows she could win this without getting hurt, but she is desperate to talk to their king. And she does anything for answers.
“Well, that is unexpected.” Haysden says, breaking the silence.
“You think? Your brother is intent on killing me she muttered, walking to the window sills. Haysden watched as her hand went to her tummy to rub it quietly
“You alright?”
“Can Ljust have one moment to myself, please?” She begs with a drowned whisper, and she swallows that croak in her voice as she turns away. Hayden can tell she is on the verge of crying, finally wanting to let that all out, but she fights herself not to.
Elise wouldn’t cry, a promise she’d made to herself since she was in that holding cell-that she’d never allow anyone to see her cry. “Alright, you need rest,” he muttered as Hayden headed for the door with a promise that he would be back later,
The minute he leaves, her cold expression falls, and her walls crumble and come crashing down. Elise has to clasp her right hand to stop it from shaking. It all felt like a surge of emotion; she still hadn’t fully processed her loss,
The moment she’d woken up disoriented, the moment she talked to Abby, who tried to inform her about her losing a baby, Elise felt like the whole world was against her
She couldn’t help but feel that gaping hole in her heart. Was she destined to have no family?
“Maybe it is for the best,” he says, caressing her tummy. “That way, I’ll never forgive them for
what they did to us; I will get my revenge on them; I’ll prove to them that they made a mistake by throwing me away.”
Hayden came back a few hours later, and this time he coerced Elise to leave the room. He watched her take careful yet elegant steps as her hips sashayed with each step.
One that he couldn’t keep away from. “Get your mind out of the gutter, you creep,” Hayden mutters internally. He steps in front of her insicad.
The moment they were out of her room, she saw three unfamiliar males with the widest grins on their faces as they teased Hayden, who was walking right in front of her. He raises a middle finger to his friends, who snicker.
The moment she fully comes into view, their smiles change into ones filled with awe for her beauty, an aura that makes all of them want to protect her. Gone were the blood and dirt, and they could fully see the beautiful she-wolf.
Hayden already warned them to be on their best behavior because he knew how rowdy his friends could be. But his best friend, Jax, was quiet as he watched her approach them. Quietly studying her.
Elise didn’t let a smile show on her face; there was no inclination of trust in her features. From what she’d been through and the betrayal, she wanted nothing to do with or trust these people, even though her wolf whined in reproach, trying to let Elise pull her guard down but
to no avail.
Hayden moved aside for a brief moment with Abby calling him to talk in her office, leaving the three males, the younger looking at Elise in awe as he beamed a friendly smile at her while the tallest of the three came forward.
“Hello, I’m Michale,” the taller of the three starts; “that’s Brady and Jax; we are glad you’re ok, and you don’t need to worry about those humans ever,” Michale includes.
“What do asks, confused.
you mean?” SI
“They hurt you, and our alpha gave us the order to get rid of them,” Michale explains. It immediately clicks to Elise that they killed them.
Her gaze softened at the news, but she was all the more confused as to why they’d help a stranger get rid of her hunters. She recalls that these were shadow wolf males, a part of Hayden’s troop, and they’d do anything to protect their home.
They could be welcoming now, but she knew she needed to be careful. Jax is still quiet as he watches her from the sidelines from her every gesture to her dol-fine fear and that uncanny streak of white hair, but their gazes lock and he gives a sites tow in greeting nonetheless.
They are all interrupted when Hayden comes back into the room. His gaze moves from ins pals to Elise. Abby comes in a few seconds later, and her eyes soften as site locks at EiseExclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
