"What are you talking about?"
John walked into the living room with his secretary by his side. The secretary noticed the atmosphere and was about to leave.
"The documents are on the desk in the study on the second floor."
The secretary went upstairs. Before leaving, she subconsciously glanced at Roslin.
Linda hurriedly explained, "Mom asked Roslin to dress a little better when she goes out, but she felt offended and argued with Mom."
John looked at his angry wife and then at Roslin who was poorly dressed. He frowned slightly and didn't doubt Linda's words.
"Your mother is right. Girls should wear dresses. You should change your clothes."
John used a euphemistic way of speaking, but Roslin understood his implication.
She was no longer the little girl back then.
"If I would disgrace the Smith family by going out wearing this outfit, what about wearing the old clothes that other people didn't want? Or is there a rule in the Smith family that I have to wear other people's old clothes to see friends?"
Upon hearing her sarcastic words, John frowned. "What do you mean?"
"Linda asked me to wear her old clothes to see her friends."Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Being looked at by her father, Linda was aggrieved and her eyes turned red. "Dad, I didn't do it."
"Roslin, how can you lie at such a young age? When did Linda say such a thing?"
Roslin smiled. "She didn't say it, but she did it. In my closet, besides the few clothes I brought with me, the rest are old clothes that Linda didn't want. You are forcing me to wear her old clothes to see her friends since you don't allow me to wear my own clothes. Will it gain the Smith family more respect?"
Roslin didn't stop and continued to mock them.
"If I really don't care about the Smith family, I'm afraid that within a day, the entire upper class of H City will spread the news that the biological daughter of the Smith family wears her adopted sister's old clothes when going out to see people."
"On a smaller scale, people may think that Mr. and Mrs. Smith prefer their adopted daughter. After all, the adopted daughter has been with them for many years and has more emotional ties. Look, the biological daughter can only wear her adopted sister's old clothes."
"On a larger scale, people may wonder if something bad has happened to the Smith family's business and if their capital chain has problems because they can't even afford to buy clothes for their own daughter."
"If someone with bad intentions takes advantage of this matter and spreads it on the Internet, what will happen?"
Roslin saw John's expression change and smiled in her heart.
John valued nothing but his company. Whoever did something that harmed his company would not be forgiven easily.
Lucinda said indifferently, "What people say on the Internet has nothing to do with our Smith family."
"Shut up!" John rebuked and then looked at Roslin with a softer gaze. "You're very thoughtful."
John looked at Linda, and Linda was scared by his gaze.
"Dad, it's not like that. I... I really didn't think that way." Linda wanted to defend herself but didn't know what to say.
As long as John went upstairs and had a look, he would know that what Roslin said was true. If Linda tried to defend herself now, it would only make John unhappy.
"Look how scared you've made Linda. How could she remember which clothes she has worn and which ones she hasn't? She has so many clothes." Lucinda held Linda's hand. When she saw the tears in Linda's eyes, she immediately felt sorry for Linda.
