Chapter 53
“Why are you saying sorry? It’s not Molly’s fault,” Tavish said.
But Molly shook her head. “Mommy, I actually hit Danny. It’s not Tavish’s fault, he was protecting me.”
Nydia was surprised. She had thought Tavish had hit Danny.
“I know Molly was also trying to protect brother, so this isn’t your fault. Tavish is just angry at me,” Nydia said, patting Molly’s head. “Let’s let him calm down for a bit.”
Nydia could guess why Tavish was angry. He had always been a serious child, even though he was young.
“Ma’am, Madame Rosalind, Master Andrew, and Lady Sibley are here,” the servant said, looking worried.Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Before Nydia could react, several people had already come in, looking anxious.
Rosalind’s expression turned vicious as soon as she saw Nydia. She rushed over, her speed surprising everyone, and swung her hand down hard towards Nydia. “Smack!” The sound was loud, and Molly screamed.
“You wretch! How could you do such a thing? And you dare to hide?!” Rosalind shouted angrily.
She had meant to slap Nydia, but Nydia had instinctively dodged, so the slap hit her shoulder instead. It was painful and numb, and it was easy to imagine how much worse it would have been if it had hit her face.
Rosalind raised her hand to strike again, but Sibley stopped her. “Mom, Molly is here!”
She lowered her hand, staring hatefully at Nydia. “You witch!”
“Grandma, why did you hit Mommy?” Molly stepped forward to stand in front of Nydia, but she was too small to really block Rosalind.
“Molly, go to your room. We need to talk to your mommy,” Sibley said gently.
“Are you going to hit Mommy again? Why did you hit her?” Molly refused to leave.
“Take the child away!” Andrew ordered.
The maid was about to come and take Molly, but she immediately hugged Nydia’s leg and said, “I’m not going, I’m not going! Don’t bully mommy!” Her voice was choked up and her eyes were red.
“Molly, you go to your room first. Mommy is fine,” Nydia said, touching Molly’s hair gently.
“No, I’m not leaving. I won’t let anyone bully mommy!” Molly started crying, tears streaming down her face. Andrew, Rosalind, and Sibley were both heartbroken and angry at the scene.
At this moment, Tavish also rushed out of the room and asked, “Grandma, what are you doing?”
Seeing both children protecting Nydia, Rosalind became even angrier. “Look at you! Both children trust you so much, but what have you done? You’re a disaster! How could we, the Pascalls, have a daughter-in-law like you?”
Nydia now understood why they had come, knowing that they must have seen the news online about Tavish’s incident. Sibley knew about Tavish’s drowning, but Andrew and Rosalind didn’t.
“What are you all waiting for? Take the two children away!” Rosalind didn’t want to embarrass Nydia in front of the children.
“Don’t come near us,” Tavish said coldly, his once naive eyes now flashing cold light. “Grandma, wait until Dad comes back!”
His reaction surprised everyone. No one expected Tavish to have such a strong presence.
When Rosalind finally reacted, she felt her heart ache and her face turned pale. She held her chest and furrowed her brow. “Mom?” Sibley rushed to support her, and Nydia was also startled. “I’ll call an ambulance!”
“I’m fine!” Rosalind stood up straight, trying to endure the discomfort. She looked at Tavish. “Tavish, grandma came to make things right for you. How could you treat grandma like this?”
