Rebirth In Divorce: My New Mr. Perfect

Divorce 214

Chapter 214

Yvette listened to the words on the phone in panic, her hand trembling on the table. "Ms. White! You can't just leave me in the lurch! What should I do now? I don't want to go to jail!'

"You don't want to go to jail, and neither does anyone else. Don't bring this up with me again. Don't forget, Yvette, you're the one who did this in the first place, it has nothing to do with me. Instead of wasting time asking me, you should go and ask Xavier. You're carrying his child now; there's no way he wouldn't protect you," Irene said coldly before hanging up the phone.

Listening to the busy signal from the phone, Yvette felt a stab of anxiety. She realized that Irene had given up on her. It made sense; Irene hadn't shown up during the entire event, and Yvette had handled all the follow-up communication. Now that it all came to light, there was no evidence linking Irene to it. Helen was the first scapegoat, and Yvette was Irene's scapegoat.

Yvette sat on the bed, gasping for air. After what felt like ages, Xavier finally returned to the room. As soon as he stepped in, he saw the state Yvette was in. "Xavier," she murmured.

"Yvette, what's wrong? Is it your stomach?" Xavier asked with concern.

Yvette shook her head, her face pale. She didn't know how to express it, but only the Flynn family could help her now. Helen was locked up in a mental institution, and the wrongs Yvette committed were on the verge of being exposed. If it came to light, she would end up in jail.

She glanced at Xavier, who was fussing over her, filled with warmth and concern. After much contemplation, she finally

made up her mind: she had to confess sooner rather than later. If Yasmine caught them off guard, even if Xavier truly wanted to save her, there wouldn't be enough time. Her eyes began to moisten, and anyone looking would feel a pang of sympathy.

Xavier, in a panic, grabbed her hand, worried that she might have a stomachache. "Yvette, what's wrong? Is there something you need to tell me?'ı

"Xavier, if one day you found out that I made a really big mistake, what would you do?" Yvette's eyes were brimming with tears as she looked at him.

Xavier had a bad feeling about this, "What kind of mistake?"

Yvette threw herself into Xavier's arms, crying uncontrollably, "Xavier, it's all my fault."

"What exactly happened?" Xavier's brows furrowed deeply.

"Actually, what happened at the Luxury Lane Villas wasn't my sister's doing. It was me. I drove the car there. When you asked me that day, I was too scared to admit it, and my sister ended up in the detention center because of my selfishness. It's all my fault," she sobbed, gasping for breath. "Xavier, just turn me in now. I know I was wrong."

Her fists were clenched tightly, unsure of what choice Xavier should make. Would he directly send her to prison, or would he choose to turn a blind eye and let Helen continue taking the blame?

However, before he could speak, Selena rushed in and blocked Yvette, saying, "Don't be afraid. Whatever money they want, we'll give it to them. Xavier, you can't lose your head right now. Yvette is already pregnant, and prison is no place for anyone." She paused for a moment and then continued, "Helen has made

so many mistakes before; it's good for her to learn a lesson this time."

Xavier frowned deeply. Mom was once willing to do anything for Helen, but now she's saying all this just to take the fall.

Yvette felt a rush of relief inside. She had been thinking about how to persuade Xavier to let her go. It seemed like Selena would stand up for her. She intentionally wiped her eyes twice and cried, "Mom, it's all my fault. Please don't blame Xavier. Sister ended up in the detention center because of me. Even if you send me to prison, I wouldn't have any complaints; it's my fault."

Selena shook her head and continued to block Yvette. "Silly child, what's the point of saying these things now? You just need to focus on taking care of yourself and give me a big grandson. That's what's most important." Her heart ached too. Her own daughter had been sent to prison as a scapegoat, and if it weren't for the precious baby in Yvette's belly, she would have agreed to Yvette's request to take Helen's place in the hospital.

Yvette swallowed her heartache and looked at Xavier. "Xavier, don't be mad. I know it's my fault, and you can punish me however you like." Tears rolled down her cheeks like strings of pearls. She wiped her nose and gazed innocently at Xavier. Selena watched intently from the side. He finally relaxed a little.

"Just focus on your prenatal care at home and stop worrying about these things, I'll think of a way to deal with Helen".

In just a few seconds, Yvette quickly wiped away her tears and buried her sadness. Selena returned to her room, but Yvette was clearly dissatisfied with herself. "Xavier, you have to save Helen."

"I want to save her too, but it's not as easy as just wanting to do it,"

Xavier said utterly exhausted. "I'll do my best".

The next day, Yasmine got into the car heading to the jail. Inside the detention center, Helen had waited for what seemed like forever, but she never saw the person she was hoping for. There was no sign of anyone from the Flynn family, nor did frene show up these past few days. Maybe they had already given up on her. Thinking back to what Yvette said that day, Helen held onto a glimmer of hope, but now she realized her true position-she was nothing more than a pawn.

"Helen, someone's here to see you." Her heart skipped a beat. When the police escorted her out, she was surprised to see who was actually there. It wasn't Xavier, nor was it her mother or Irene. It was someone she never expected-Yasmine.

Helen's face instantly turned cold. "What are you doing here? Are you here to laugh at my misfortune? Or did you come to rub your victory in my face?'ı

Yasmine sat across from her with a steady composure and a gentle smile. "Helen, it's been days since we've last seen each other, and you're still as sharp-tongued as ever."

"What do you really want? I don't want to see you." The sight made Helen feel a bit resentful. Yasmine was dressed beautifully, clean and elegant, while she was just a convict in a prison uniform. What irony!Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

Yasmine ignored her words and simply said, "Helen, I know you weren't responsible for what happened at the Luxury Lane Villas."

Helen was taken aback by these

words. She never imagined that the truth she was trying to clarify would be something her brother wouldn't believe, nor her mother, but instead, it was the person she always thought wanted to harm her who actually believed her She gave a self-deprecating smile. "So, what are you trying to achieve by saying this? Are you here to pity me? Or is there something you want to find out from me?'
