Pursuing My Ex Wife in Full Blooming Spring

Chapter 44

Naomi’s name appeared on his screen. Scott stared at it for a few moments before finally picking up the call. “Hello?”

Naomi had told her mother the truth about Scott Intending to transfer her to a better hospital, and Donna had agreed with her; they both decided it would be better to turn down Scott’s help since the two were no longer married.

Although Naomi had just so happened to save Scott’s niece, they would not use this as leverage to take advantage of the Lawsons, so Donna was more than happy to help Naomi call Scott to tell him

this.

At this moment, Donna had the phone pressed against Naomi’s ear as she waited for the call to po

Finally, his familiar voice rang out from the other end of the line.

Naomi blinked and said, “Are you busy?”

As always, this was the first thing she asked whenever she called him.

Scott glanced out the window. “No.”

and

“Good. I wanted to tell you that I’m supposed to get transferred to another hospital tomorrow, I’ve already processed the papers. Therefore you don’t need to do the same anymore. I know you’re trying to help me, but it’s just a small matter, so I don’t want to trouble you for this. it’s nothing to do with you, per se–I would’ve done the same even if it were someone else.”

With that, she waited for his response, but he was silent.

All of a sudden, she heard the sound of a nurse talking from the other end of the line.

He was still at the hospital–probably visiting his niece.

Naomi continued to wait patiently for him to say something.

“What are you so afraid of, Naomi?” Scott’s reply finally came a long time later..

Naomi froze. Afraid? She was not afraid!

However, her heart lurched when he said this. She replied, “I-”

She wanted to explain herself, but no words came out. She was so caught off guard by Scott’s answer that she did not know how to defend himself. This was Scott’s first time speaking to her that way. She could not help but feel that Scott was different from before, but why?

They had gone through a peaceful divorce and continued to remain friends despite the end of the relationship, so why was Scott acting so hostile toward her all of a sudden?

Perhaps it was because of the change in her attitude; Naomi had always obeyed Scott’s command

without hesitation in the past, and now that she was deflant, he could not help but feel annoyed by

that.

“Fine, you can go ahead with your plan. I won’t take up any more of your time,” she said, then glanced at Donna, indicating her to hang up.

Donna frowned. She could tell from the look on Naomi’s face that the call had not gone as planned but she did as Naomi said and hung up without a word.

“What happened?” she asked with a concerned look.

Naomi furrowed her brows. “It’s fine. Let’s go along with Scott’s plans. He’s been bending himself backwards for this and turning him down would trouble him even further. Let’s just go along with it.

“Can you help me call Charles, Mom? I need to tell him that Scott will take over the transfer, so he doesn’t need to be here tomorrow morning anymore.”

Donna was about to say something but decided against it and obliged. “Okay, dear.”

She dialed Charles’s number.
