Chapter 31- Kept promises

Chapter 31- Kept promises

JULIANA'S POV

I rang Tyberias' phone for the twentieth time, but as expected it went straight to voice mail.

"Tyberias, I'm sorry, please call me back. I- I lo-" I began but was cut off as I heard a loud bang and a something race past me head and indented itself I into the wall next to me.

I snapped my head behind me to see a bullet about an inch away from my head.

I screamed loudly and turned to the direction of where it came from to see a man dressed in black standing in the distance, firing bullets at me.

"S-Someone's shioting at me, Tyberias. Please come get me, I'm scared." I panicked into the phone, but I forgot that it was only voicemail.

I quickly ended the voicemail and ducked behind a car, trying to take cover.

More bullets were being fired and they all hit the car. I've never been more afraid of my life.

I picked my phone up and called the first person I saw in my contacts.

"Twice in one day? I'm honoured, Juliana" Adrian said as he picked up the phone.

"Adrian. H-Help" I stuttered as tears began forming in my eyes.

"Juliana, what's wrong?" He said urgently

"Someone's shooting at m-me"

"Where are you?" He said and I could here him moving quickly in the background.

"I-I don't know, I was trying to follow Tyberias but he was going too fast and I lost him. I think I'm in an abandoned car park or something."

"I'll track your phone. Where's my brother?"

"I don't know. He's not answering my calls."

I screamed again as more bullets were being fired and the windows of the car shattered instantly.

"I need you to find somewhere to hide for a few minutes, can you do that for me Juliana?"

"I think so" I whispered into the phone.

"Good. Just stay calm and we'll be there soon, okay?" He said and I could hear him moving around quickly.

"O-Okay" I muttered and I ended the call.

All I could do was hide and wait.

I waited a few seconds and realised that the bullets had stopped. I peeked my head over the car to see the man had disappeared.

I frowned and slowly stood up from my crouched position. Where was he? Did he decide to go?

I got up from my crouched position and looked around. I sighed when I saw that he was nowhere in sight. That was a close one.

All of a sudden, I felt someone's presence behind me. I quickly spun around to see the same man. The last thing I remember was him hitting my head with his gun and me slowly losing consciousness.

"I'm sorry for not being there for you, baby. None of this would've happened if I didn't leave you" I heard someone say as they held my hand.

I slowly opened my eye and squinted at the bright lights.

I slowly sat up in the bed and laid my eyes on the person that was talking.

"Juliana, take it easy" the man said.

I snatched my hand out of his and frowned.

"Who are you?" I asked and rubbed my head trying to sooth the pain.

I saw his face drop as he registered what I said.

"You- You don't remember me?" He asked and his voice cracked. I shook my head.

A few moments passed and I decided to put him out of his misery.

"I'm joking, how could I forget you Tyberias?" I smiled. Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

"That wasn't funny" he frowned.

Then, everything that happened the past couple of hours hit me.

"Tyberias, I'm sorry for what I did earlier. Your right, I should have trusted you" I mumbled shyly.

"It's fine. I would have probably reacted the same if I heard a guy on the other end of a call with you. I'm just glad your safe" he said and he came up to lie down on our bed next to me.

"What happened to the guy that was trying to shoot me?" I asked and scorched over closer to him.

"We came just in time and found him carrying you to his car. So we surrounded and injured him and I got a doctor to check on you. We've got the guy tied up and a couple men are torturing him now" he said casually and I nodded.

"I think you dropped this" I sheepishly said and reached for my back pocket to retrieve the diamond ring that was painfully digging into my behind.

He smiled when he saw it and reached for it.

"This isn't how I imagined doing it." He said and held my hands and pulled me up so I was standing up in front of him.

"I was planning on taking you to dinner first or some cheesy shït like that." He chuckled and shook his head.

He slowly got down on one knee.

"Juliana, this ring is a symbol of my love for you and my plans to marry you. I know it may seem early but I cannot and will never imagine myself with anyone but you. I love you, Juliana." He said and smiled up at me. Tears welled up in my eyes as I felt my heart burst with joy.

I instantly wrapped my arms around his neck and laughed myself on him, making us both fall to the ground.

"Thank you" I whispered. "No one has ever loved me or cared for me like you have" I continued. "I love you. Now and Always, Tyberias" I said.

"Don't cry." He whispered and kissed away my tears.

"I can't help it, you make me so happy" I beamed.

He grinned and slowly sat up so I was sitting on his lap.

"Your inpatient àss couldn't even let me put this on you" he smirked and slipped the ring onto my finger.

I giggled and admired the ring on my finger.

"You still need to clear something up for me" I said as I looked up from the ring.

"Shoot"

"Why weren't you home for the last couple of days and why were you ignoring me?"

"I knew that I wouldn't be able to lie to your face, so if you asked me how my day was like you do all the time, I knew I would accidentally tell you about the ring, so I just thought it would be better to stay away from you for the time being. You're not still mad at me, right" he said hopefully.

I shook my head frantically. How could I be mad at him?

"You two made up fast" Adrian smirked as he walked into our room and saw me straddling him on the ground.

I quickly stood up and dusted myself off. I walked over to Adrian and wrapped my arms around him.

"I never got to thank you for helping me, Adrian" I said.

"Don't worry, about it. You like family now." He said and hugged me back.

I felt his hands move lower until they were resting on the small of my back. I think he was enjoying this a little too much.

"That's enough" I heard Tyberias mumble. I pulled away to catch Adrian pulling faces at Tyberias, teasing him about our close proximity.

I scoffed and playfully hit him.

"Don't be an asshole, Adrian" I joked.
