Chapter 213: Long Time No See
Chapter 213: Long Time No See
Freddie's commercial performance was a concert together with the company's other singers, and many attended. All the fans of the current top four trending singers gathered here, and the tickets were basically snapped up once released for sale online.
Freddie smiled helplessly after sending away the two clamorous little fans. The agent at the side urged him to hurry up for the makeup, "Gosh, hurry up and sit down to get your hair done. Your show is up next and you still have time to entertain those two little fans."
"That's not just my fan, but my niece too. Isn't she cute?"
The agent pressed Freddie into a chair while the makeup artist was busy doing it.
"By the way, the investors are here at the scene today, so don't make any mistakes. There will be a celebration dinner after the show, and you must attend it. You are not allowed to leave this time no matter what reasons."
Freddie was uninterested, "I don't want to go."
"You have to go even if you don't want."
The agent looked severe, "Which of them in the same company isn't doing much more endorsement than you? Otherwise, how do you think they get it besides entertaining and drinking with those advertisers. Why don't you go? Have a drink, delighting them and you can get millions of endorsement deals easily."
The words were bending Freddie's ears, "Atwood, can you stop receiving this kind of commercial performances and endorsements next time, I just want to concentrate on releasing my album."
"Gosh, hadn't you taken in my words? The music industry is declining now as no one buys it anymore. Due to video piracy running rampant nowadays, even if we put the songs on the internet for sale, it can
hardly earn any money. It's not bad if we can make up for the pre-production deficit. I do not oppose for you having artistic pursuits and I have been finding ways to earn money for you. Can you make allowances for me?"
"Alright, fine. I'll stop talking."
Freddie lifted his hands in surrender.
It was unrealistic for one to remain untainted when involving in the entertainment industry. Freddie was using the money that he earned from the endorsements and commercial performances to write his songs. And this was the last thing he could do.
He was already exhausted since he entered this industry in less than a year. He needed to move on constantly so that he wouldn't fall down.
The audience would only see his glorious moment on stage or the embarrassed look when he was knocked off his pedestal. Nobody cared about his feelings and desires.
The best boy came over to inform the time and location of the celebration dinner when the show ended. The agent was staring at Freddie all the way to the hotel banquet Hall, not letting him run away.
"I won't leave for sure. Atwood, can you stop staring at me? It's creepy."
"Not until you meet with the boss of Warner Corporation. After that, you can do whatever you want."
"Damn, is it that chunky guy, Aldrich Jones, who likes to harass others sexually? Meeting him would be shortening my life."
"Just a smile won't kill you."
The two were at a standstill when someone in the distance walked over, wearing a brown suit with a dark blue bow tie. He looked extraordinary, holding a glass of champagne.
"It's rare. I heard that Freddie never participate in the celebration dinner."
Freddie was stunned suddenly, hearing these words. He was pale instantly, with his back facing Cleveland Sanchez.
"Oh, Mr. Sanchez?" The agent smiled, "This is a misunderstanding. Freddie wasn't attending previously just because he fell ill every time and he need to go back to the hotel. But he's fine today and so he came."
"Oh?"
Cleveland spoke with a meaningful tone.
"You guys have a chat. I'll go over there to say hello first."
The agent was sensible to leave. Before he left, he even patted Freddie's shoulder, signalling him to grasp the opportunity. Seemed that the agent hadn't found out any bad intentions of Cleveland until then.
Freddie was speechless for having such an agent, always putting him in a tight spot.
"Long time no see."
Cleveland's voice sounded from behind him.
Freddie sneered, forcing himself a smile, "It's not that long. Didn't we just meet three days ago in Beijing?"
Nobody would believe the two of them came across with each other by chance all the time at so many different places.
Freddie even suspected that his agent, Atwood Bartley, had sold his trip list to Cleveland.
"It's pity." Cleveland was holding the wine glass, swirling the champagne gently, "If we went in March or April, then we can see the cherry blossom bloom."
"Mr. Sanchez, you're really in a leisurely and carefree mood."
Freddie glanced at him, "I'm travelling for work and no way I can pick my own time. I'm not as free as a boss like you."
Cleveland didn't deny but smiling and said, "I heard that you bear grudges against the boss of Warner."
Hearing that, Freddie gave him a dirty look and replied sourly, "What's that to you?"
Half a month ago at the backstage of the film festival in Beijing, Aldrich Jones, the boss of Warner Corporation, who was constantly being scandalous in the industry, touched Freddie's butt in front of the crowd in the workroom.
This disgusted him for a long time, and he still felt sick thinking of it now.
He would have hit him if it wasn't the agent who stopped him.
"It's none of my business indeed, but the Sanchez Group had cooperation with Warner recently. I've showed something to Old Master Jones and now Warner is no longer the control of that pig."
Freddie was stunned, looking at Cleveland surprisingly, "What did you show him?"
"It's just a picture of that pig hugging together with a male prostitute. Old Master Jones nearly had an heart attack seeing it, and he made a call to remove him from his position straight away."
It was not strange for Cleveland to do this at all. He was born with a sense of sensuality. Freddie held for a while, and finally, he couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"How's that? Aren't you going to buy me dinner to thank me?"
"I didn't request you to help me."
Freddie raised his brows as he put down his wine glass, "Since that's the case, then I don't have to stay here, waiting to apologize to that pig anymore. Mr. Sanchez, please tell my agent when you see him later. I'll leave first." Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
Freddie left with a flourish. Cleveland stood in place for a while, smiling, and then followed him.
"You're a menace! Why on earth would have such person forcing others to buy himself dinner?"
After walking along the street for a while, Freddie noticed Cleveland was following behind him, driving him crazy.
"I'm a businessman."
Cleveland looked idle, "A businessman's interests always come first. So you have get even with me."
"Is it that you will stop following me after I treat you to a meal?"
"Of course."
After hearing this, Freddie looked narrowly at the oden stall by the roadside and said faintly, "You said it."
