PHB 8
It is uncertain how many times Deasy took a deep breath. While her mind suddenly recalled Veronica’s words from yesterday, when they met at the coffee shop.
Deasy closed her eyes tightly. After initially being indifferent, she suddenly felt worried for no reason. Afraid that Veronica’s words might come true for her.
“Don’t be crazy, Des. What if you get pregnant?”
“Oh, come on, Veronica. I only made out twice. Can I really get pregnant?”
“But you didn’t use protection, did you?”
Deasy shook her head.
“When you’re drunk, you don’t remember to use protection. The only thing on my mind that night was pleasure, pleasure, and pleasure. Plus, I wouldn’t even know whether that guy finished inside or outside.”
“Oh my God…” Veronica exclaimed while shaking her head repeatedly. She never imagined that Deasy would be so random and reckless. “Be careful, or else I might hear that you’re stressed and contemplating suicide because you suddenly got pregnant.”
“It’s impossible,” Deasy replied confidently. “Out there, many people make out multiple times and don’t get pregnant.”
“Why is it impossible?” Veronica argued. “Even if it’s only once, if you don’t use protection, no one can guarantee that you won’t get pregnant, Des. Especially if it happened twice. Plus, with a random guy. If you do get pregnant, determining the biological father will be a hassle. DNA tests and all. Do you want to go through that?”
“But I’m sure I won’t get pregnant.”
“I’ll pray for your feeling,” Veronica said, giving up. Perhaps she had run out of words to wake Deasy up to her reckless actions. “But… if anything happens, just be careful not to take shortcuts or do anything reckless!”
Deasy immediately massaged her temples. She cursed herself while shifting in her seat at work. The turmoil within her was still there, even worse than before.
“For God’s sake, if I make out and end up pregnant with the handsome guy I imagined last night, I’ll accept it with all my heart and soul. But if my make-out partner is Lucas, and he’s the one responsible if I get pregnant, I just can’t accept it,” Deasy monologued while continuing to massage her temples.
There was a sense of pride and unwillingness that had filled Deasy’s mind since earlier. Where would her self-esteem be if she got pregnant and married Lucas, who was clearly her subordinate?
Not to mention Lucas’ nerdy, dorky appearance with thick glasses and oh… basically far from her ideal type. Even when she was dating Daniel, she was gossiped about all kinds of things.
“God… my life is such a mess,” she sighed heavily. Deasy’s shoulders slumped as if the throbbing headache had comfortably settled within her. “Can’t the make-out partner be a handsome guy from my imagination?”
Once again, Deasy closed her eyes. Suddenly, she felt nauseous just thinking about this possibility.
“But, what if I really am pregnant with Lucas’ child? What am I supposed to do then? Am I really supposed to marry him and spend my whole life with a guy who’s so not my type?”
Deasy’s body shuddered. She trembled a little, as if a ghost had passed by her side. Or perhaps there really was a ghost passing by?
“Come on, Deasy, come on. Just believe that you won’t get pregnant. Besides, Lucas’ older brother is so young. He definitely wouldn’t be able to get you pregnant,” Deasy monologued again, trying to comfort herself.
But after trying hard to convince herself that she would be fine, there was one sentence from Veronica yesterday that disturbed Deasy’s mind again.
“If you want to be more sure whether you’ll get pregnant or not, just ask your partner from last night, when you guys made out, did he finish inside or outside.”
Deasy immediately shook her head, thinking again whether it was necessary to follow Veronica’s suggestion and ask Lucas directly about what happened during their make-out session that night.
Lost in her thoughts, Deasy almost forgot herself. She didn’t even realize that someone had been calling and tapping her desk repeatedly.
“Miss Deasy… Miss Deasy… hey!”
Deasy was startled in her seat. Flustered, she even screamed when she suddenly found Lucas standing right in front of her desk. But strangely, a few seconds later, the surprise turned quickly into tension. For the first time, Deasy looked nervous meeting Lucas.
“Oh, Lucas.”
“Ma’am… I want to talk seriously.”
Deasy froze for a moment. Seconds later, she tried to take a deep breath while trying to keep her composure.
“Talk seriously about what? Work-related matters?”
Lucas dared to pull a chair in front of Deasy’s desk. He sat down and looked intently at the woman who was his boss.
“This is about what happened last night.”
“What’s wrong again?”
“I just want to clarify that I didn’t mean to trap you or do anything immoral. I swear, at first, I just accidentally ran into you when you were drunk and almost unconscious at the bar. Like before, I just took the initiative to help you by taking you home. But…”Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
“But what?” Deasy interrupted.
“But, Miss Deasy got drunk again.”
Deasy frowned, massaging her forehead while trying to think hard. What illness does she have that keeps being described as “getting drunk”?
“Drunk again?”
“Yes,” Lucas nodded repeatedly. “Miss Deasy got heavily drunk and then forced me to do…”
“Stop!” Deasy pleaded while glaring at him. She could guess what the next thing Lucas would say to her. “Don’t continue. Actually, I wonder, Luc. Why the hell did I have to meet and make out with you?”
“Well, how should I know, Bu? I tried to refuse. But you forced me and even took off my clothes first.”
“Are you serious that it was you last night?” Deasy asked, squinting her eyes. If she could beg to God, she would want last night’s events to be just a bad dream. “You must be lying, right? Come on, just admit it.”
“What do you want me to admit, Bu?”
“Admit that you were asked by someone to replace him, right? I’m sure that last night, my partner in bed was handsome and definitely not you.”
Lucas was almost taken aback. He didn’t expect that Deasy would remember the face of the man who was, in fact, his true appearance when he slept with her last night.
In Lucas’ mind, his disguise could be threatened if Deasy really found out that the man last night was him in his true form.
“It’s impossible, Bu. I’m sure you must have been dreaming. I was the one who accompanied you to sleep last night. Not another man. Besides, do you think we’re in a movie or something? Using body doubles and all?”
“Liar!” Deasy retorted, still not accepting it. “Fine, Lucas. Just admit it. Who paid and asked you to cover up his identity?”
Lucas sighed. Besides being a persistent person who forced him, Deasy was also stubborn.
“It really was me, Bu. Not someone else or a stuntman. If you don’t believe me, I even remember the color of the bra you wore that night. Moreover, I also remember the lacy panties with a bow that you wore the other day, and it was monkey gray, right? If that’s not convincing enough, I also remember that I left a red mark in the shape of a betta fish on your chest that night. I bet that mark is still there even now.”
Deasy choked up. Lucas’ words were so striking. Talking about the red mark in the shape of a betta fish, she had to admit that it was indeed clear on her chest.
In this case, it had to be Lucas. There was no denying it anymore that he was clearly her partner during last night’s make-out session.
“So, it was really you?” Deasy mumbled half-frustrated.
“I told you from the beginning that it was me. It’s just that you didn’t believe me.”
Trying to calm herself even though it seemed impossible, Deasy suddenly remembered something. Since there was an opportunity and they were alone, it would be a good idea to clarify something that had been bothering her.
“Lucas, why do I have to do something inappropriate with you twice? And why is it always you who helps me when I’m drunk?” Deasy looked sharp as if she wanted to peel Lucas sitting in front of her. “Are you following me on purpose?”
“I’m not short of work. Maybe it’s just destiny.”
“Nonsense! But, by the way, about sleeping together, if you don’t mind me asking, did you use protection when we made out?”
Deasy hoped Lucas would nod. Maybe she was heavily drunk and couldn’t tell if Lucas used protection or not. But Lucas himself was sober. Who knows, maybe he always carries condoms in his wallet, just in case. Although, upon reflection, it seemed impossible.
“I don’t use protection. Well, how can I? From the beginning, I had no intention of sleeping with you or any woman.”
Deasy sighed deeply. What Lucas had just said actually made sense.
“But… during the second make-out, you must have used protection, right?”
Again, Lucas shook his head.
“No, Miss. I’m sorry, but I didn’t use protection during the second time either.”
Deasy was still trying to keep her composure. There was still one possibility that could potentially help her situation.
“Okay… if you really didn’t use protection. But, when we were intimate, you didn’t finish inside, did you?”
In her eyes, Deasy could see Lucas taking a deep breath. He gazed at her for a moment, and his seriousness was evident. Then, after a short pause, Lucas spoke softly.
“Unfortunately, I forgot, Miss. Maybe I was too caught up and carried away in the moment, I forgot whether I finished inside or outside.”
Deasy’s breath felt like it stopped. This was it, her fate was hanging by a thread. If she made a mistake, she could indeed get pregnant, just as Veronica had feared yesterday.
“Lucas!!!”
Deasy shouted loudly, annoyed with her own foolishness.
“Miss Deasy, calm down.”
Lucas tried to soothe Deasy, who had become hysterical. He knew that his boss was in shock from what had happened between them. Luckily, the office area wasn’t crowded at the moment, and there were no other staff passing by. It would be chaotic if anyone overheard.
“Calm down… breathe!”
“I told you, I’m ready to take responsibility if anything happens to you.”
“Ugh, it’s easy for you to say. But do you think I would be willing to marry you? Dream on!”
“Then what should we do? If I’m fine with taking responsibility, how about you?”
Considering Lucas’ words, Deasy’s headache worsened. The thought of being pregnant and marrying a man like… ugh, she didn’t even want to think about it. Deasy felt like she was going crazy.
“It’s better if you leave right now, Luc. Just seeing you makes me want to throw up.”
“But my office is here. With you.”
“I don’t care. Just leave. I need time to calm myself.”
“Okay… okay… I’ll leave. But, once again, Miss. If something happens in the future, you don’t have to…”
“Lucas! Get out now!”
Hearing Deasy yelling again, Lucas was taken aback. He didn’t want to see his boss becoming even angrier, so he chose to comply and quickly left the room.
