CRAZY
Layla bid Regan farewell as he dropped her in front of Nolan’s company. He insisted on dropping her off after they both had lunch together.
“Bye..” she waved at him.
“Sure. Do take care of yourself..” he waved back as he drove off.
Layla took in a deep breath as she stared at the huge company in front of her. This was where it all started.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
Layla could still remember the day she first met Nolan on her first day of work.
He hated her so much and even wanted to fire her.
Layla remembered how Nolan had looked at her with disdain, as if she was the lowest thing on earth. He had been so angry and frustrated, and he had made her feel small and insignificant.
But over time, everything g had changed. He had begun to see her differently, to see her as a person, not just an employee or a woman he has a one night stand with
She began to walk in, not putting on a calm and reserved face.
As she walked in, she could feel the stares of people on her, curious gazes. She had been away and just showed up pregnant.
She was about to reach out for the receptionist table to say hi to Bertha when someone suddenly blocked her way.
“Gotcha!!” Scarlet showed up in front of her with a sinister smile on her face.
“Scarlet..” Layla stuttered as she didn’t expect to see scarlet here.
“Don’t be surprised, Layla. I came here prepared for you. I knew you’d be here..” her lips curved up triumphantly.
Carla had informed her that Layla was coming over and told her to do whatever she could to humiliate Layla.
She had literally been waiting since morning for Layla to show up as she gave flimsy excuses to the security men around so they could allow her to stay
“What are you doing here?” Layla asked, her voice wavering slightly.
Scarlet smirked. “I’m just here to see you, Layla. I have a few things I’d like to talk to you about.”
Layla felt a knot forming in her stomach. She knew whatever Scarlet had to say was not going to be good.
“What do you want?” She asked, sucking in a deep breath.
“You didn’t abort the baby..” scarlet said meaningfully as her eyes raked through Layla’s body.
She changed a lot and looked more exquisite than ever.
Layla felt a surge of anger at Scarlet’s words. She knew what Scarlet was implying, and she was not going to let her get away with it.
“That’s none of your business,” she snapped, her voice low and threatening.
Scarlet raised her eyebrows, seemingly unimpressed by Layla’s attempt at intimidation.
“You know, you should really be more careful,” she said, a sly smile playing on her lips.
“People can be very judgmental, and they might not take too kindly to the things they hear about you.”
“For example, how you got pregnant out of wedlock… ”
“Scarlet that’s enough!” Layla warmed in a stern voice.
“I’ve had enough of your nonsense…” Layla said as she pointed accusingly at scarlet.
Scarlet shrugged, unconcerned by Layla’s anger. “I’m just saying what everyone else is thinking,” she said, her voice casual. “I’m just the one brave enough to say it to your face.”
“People are saying nothing, scarlet. In Fact you’re the only fool who utters rubbish and lies about me..”
“Haven’t you had enough?” Layla painstakingly asked.
“You’re the shameless one here, you slept with your sister’s boyfriend. You say rubbish about her and you know what I didn’t get pregnant out of wedlock, it’s high time that gets into your head..” Layla deadpanned with an angry look on her face.
She’s had enough.
“Why wouldn’t I sleep with him? Mike left you because you weren’t fit for him. You’re nothing but a slut!! You acted very innocent around him saying you weren’t ready for sex so he came to me. Then what happened next? You ran away because of shame!!” Scarlet yelled at her.
Layla felt her heart pounding in her chest as Scarlet’s words hit her like a punch to the gut. She knew that Scarlet was trying to get under her skin, but it was not working. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.
“You can say whatever you want about me,” she said, her voice trembling slightly.
“And go to hell..” Having had enough, she wanted to walk away when scarlet suddenly yanked her hand with force as she dragged her back.
“Arrrgh!” Layla yelped due to the force scarlet used in dragging her back.
“Everyone look at her!!!” Scarlet yelled, wanting to gain everyone’s attention.
A few people turned to look at Layla, curious about what was happening. Layla felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her, and she struggled to free herself from Scarlet’s grip.
“Let go of me!” she demanded, her voice shaking with anger and fear. “You have no right to do this.”
Scarlet smirked, her grip on Layla’s hand tightening.
“Oh, but I do,” she said, her voice sickly sweet.
“I have every right to make you pay for what you’ve done.”
“You’re crazy!” Layla yelled, fighting to keep her composure.
“Oh yes, I am. Now watch me display my craziness..”
“You see this lady over here. Her name is Layla. Most of you might know her. She’s the president’s secretary. As you can see, she’s pregnant..” she said in a loud voice and the people around began to murmur.
“Let go of me..” Layla struggled as Scarlet let go off her arm.
Layla stumbled back, her heart pounding in her chest. She looked around, the faces of the people around her all staring at her with curiosity and judgment. She felt like a trapped animal, the walls closing in on her.
“She’s got pregnant out of wedlock. She’s a loose woman and had no idea about the father of her child…” scarlet accused.
“She’s a slut! A whore! And…”
“Scarlet!!!” Layla yelled and the next thing that was heard was a loud resounding slap that echoed through the whole place.
