Chapter 19: Lost
ALPHA DERRICK’S CHAMBER ~ 7PM
Alpha Derrick was working on some files when he heard a knock on the door.
“Come in.” He stated without taking his gaze off the files on his table.
The door opened and Ramos stepped inside, closing the door behind him quietly.
“Greetings alpha.” Ramos bowed.
“Where are the files which contain the needs of each town in this kingdom?” Alpha Derrick asked without glancing at Ramos.
“The files are in the royal cabinet.” Ramos answered.
“Why are you here?” Alpha Derrick asked.
“Lord Fredrick requests for your presence in his chamber.” Ramos replied, and Alpha Derrick dropped the pen in his hand on the table.
“You can leave.” Alpah Derrick rose to his feet and Ramos bowed before walking out of the chamber.
Alpha Derrick walked to his closet and he picked a black top which had the head of a wolf designed on it. He wore the top and made his way out of the chamber to his father’s chamber.
The guards in front of Lord Fredrick’s chamber bowed and greeted their alpha king, and they immediately opened the door for him.
Derrick stepped inside the chamber to see his father, Lord Frederick, sitting on a couch, sipping a glass of wine. Derrick sat on the couch opposite his father without greeting him.
“Why do you wanna see me?” He asked in a cold voice.
Lord Fredrick took another sip from his wine before speaking. “What I saw you and Felicia doing in your chamber this morning, is it real?”
“Is that why you called me here? To ask me this goddamn question?” Derrick asked.Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
“Yeah, it’s part of the reason why I called you here so answer the goddamn question.” Lord Fredrick replied.
“What you saw in my chamber in the morning isn’t real, and I don’t fucking love Felicia or whatever her name is.” Derrick replied.
“Then why were the both of you kissing?” Lord Frederick asked with a smirk across his face.
“And why the fuck are you asking me these stupid questions?” Derrick asked angrily. He was pissed of by the questions his father was asking him.
“Don’t speak to me in such manner, Derrick!” Lord Fredrick barked. “You might be the Alpha king but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m still your father, so mind the way you speak to me or else I’ll have you stripped off your position!!”
Derrick scoffed angrily and looked away.
“You and Felicia are gonna get married in seven days time.” Lord Fredrick said after taking a sip from his wine.
“No, we are not getting married in seven days time.” Derrick disagreed. “I’m the one who’s gonna pick the date for the wedding and not you.”
“The date of the wedding has been fixed and nothing can change it, not even you.” Lord Frederick countered. “You and Felicia will get married in seven days so get prepared.”
“What the fuck is all these bullshit?!!!” Derrick yelled angrily and smashed his fist on the glass table which was in-between him and his father.
The glass table shattered into a million pieces but Lord Fredrick wasn’t a bit fazed. He continued sipping his wine without taking his gaze off his angry son.
Derrick’s eyes were now ox-blood red and long claws sprouted out from his fingers. He was really angry and was ready to tear anyone apart.
“What the fuck is all these, father?!” Derrick yelled again. “First, you picked a wife for me without asking for my opinion or consent, and now you’re picking my wedding date for me. What the fuck is the meaning of all that?, Are you trying to control my life or what?…..” He paused, glaring at his father who was stilp sipping his wine with a calm look on his face.
“Just because you’re my father doesn’t give you the fucking right to make decisions for me. I’m agreeing to marry Felicia only because I respect you, but the next time you make any decision for me, I am not gonna take it lightly with you.” He sneered and dashed out of the chamber.
“Thinks he can do whatever pleases him just because he’s my father.” He mumbled angrily as he walked to his chamber.
Ramos who was guarding the door opened it for him immediately he saw him coming. “Go get the car ready, Ramos.” Derrick instructed before entering inside his chamber.
He walked to his dressing table and opened a cigar box on the table to take out one; clamping it with his lips before lighting it up
He took a long and hard drag from the cigarette and blew out a huge amount of smoke from his mouth.
He picked up his phone which was also on the table and he scrolled through his contact list till he found the number he was looking for. He dialled the number and placed the phone against his right ear, waiting for whoever he was calling to answer the call.
“What’s up Derrick?” A masculine voice boomed through the phone.
“You free right now, Slade?” Derrick asked.
Slade is alpha Derrick’s only friend and they’ve been friends since childhood, but Slade’s parents are not royalties.
Slade’s father is a successful business man while his mother owns most of the clothing brands in Whitestone kingdom and other great kingdoms.
“Yeah, I’m free. Why?” Slade asked.
“Let’s meet at the club downtown. I’ve got something to discuss with you.” Derrick replied, and he disconnected the call.
A couple minutes later, Derrick was out of the palace, dressed in a black coat and trousers, heading towards the Rolls Royce Silver wraith waiting for him.
Ramos stood by the door to usher him in.
As he settled down in the lush seats of the Rolls, Ramos shut the door and he immediately rushed to the driver’s seat.
“Drive to the club downtown.” Derrick said.
Ramos started the car and drove out of the palace compound. Two black jeeps containing his guards also raced behind them.

THE MAIDS’ QUARTER
All the palace maids were done for the day. Ortega and Priscilla where eating dinner in their room when they heard a loud knock on the door.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
“Who’s there?” Priscilla asked, staring at the closed door.
“It’s me, Roxanne” Came a feminine voice from outside the room.
Priscilla stood up from the bed and she walked to the door to open it.
“Hey Roxanne, why are you here?” She asked.
“The head maid requests your presence in the kitchen right now.” Roxanne replied..
“I’ll be right back, Ortega.” Priscilla said to Ortega before walking out of the room.
“Are you Ortega?” Roxanne asked, eyeing Ortega from the door entrance where she stood.
“Yes, why do you ask?” Ortega asked back, and Roxanne stepped fully inside the toom before answering Ortega’s question.
“The head maid sent the both of us on a quick errand.”
“Now?” Ortega asked as she rose to her feet.
“Yeah, now.” Roxanne replied.
“Alright, let’s go.” Ortega said and the both of them walked out of the room. The both walked along the corridor in silence and descended the stairway which led to the last floor.
They got to the last floor and they continued walking till they got out of the building. Hefty men dressed in black suits were positioned at each and every corner of the palace.
“So, Roxanne, where are we going?” Ortega asked as they walked towards the palace gates.
“We are going to meet someone downtown.” Roxanne replied curtly.
“Okay.” Ortega nodded, and they continued walking till they got to the gates.
Two hefty men dressed in black tailored suits were standing on front of the gates with their arms crossed over their broad chests.
The size alone was enough to scare Ortega. She looked like an ant in front of them
Ortega needed no prophet to tell her that those men were werewolves and we’re also dangerous.
“Where are you going?” They asked in a deep baritone voice as he stared down at them.
“The head maid sent us on an errand.” Roxanne replied. Unlike Ortega, she wasn’t scared of the men. She looked brave and composed.
“Where’s the confirmation card?” The man asked.
“Here it is.” Roxanne brought out a green card from her jeans pocket and showed the man.
The man collected it from her and tucked it inside his pocket before giving his colleague a signal.
The big black iron gates were opened by the two men and both Ortega and Priscilla walked out of the compound.
“Uh, Roxanne?” Ortega called as they started walking along the tiled road.
“Yes?” Roxanne responded, glancing at her.
“What’s a confirmation card?” Ortega asked.
“I don’t answer stupid questions.” Roxanne replied rudely, and Ortega frowned at her but said nothing.
She was offended by the way Roxanne replied her but she was smart enough not to say anything. She knew Roxanne might react negatively if she said something so she kept quiet and they continued walking along the silent road.
They were able to see thanks to the street lights which were fixed at every sides of the road.
Ortega glanced around and was marveled by the beauty of the houses she saw. They were gigantic in size and we’re really beautiful. The gate of each houses had a logo of a wolf’s head on it.
After walking for five minutes, they got to a different street which was buzzing with life. People could be seen walking around, some were sitting on benches outside their house, discussing and laughing.
Children were laughing and running around.
The houses were beautiful and big, but not as beautiful and big as the ones Ortega saw earlier. There were also shops and people could be seen purchasing one thing or the other from different shops. in the street.
Shops like the barbershop were playing loud pop songs to attract customers.
Loud laughter of children and the loud noises of generators filled the air.
There were also street lights which made the street look like day even though it was night.
Ortega kept glancing around with a big smile across her face as she continued walking.
She suddenly looked beside her but couldn’t find Roxanne. She immediately stopped on her tracks and she glanced around but saw no sign of Roxanne.
She the saw someone who looked like Roxanne walking into a dark alleyway. She started running after the person, thinking the person was Roxanne.
“Roxanne! Wait for me!!” She shouted as she continued running after the person in the dark alleyway.
When she finally caught up with the person she held the person’s hand, and the person turned.
A confused expression appeared on Ortega’s face when she was that the person was another lady and not Roxanne.
“I’m sorry. I thought you were my friend.” She apologized and let go of the lady’s hand, then the lady walked away.
Ortega remained on her spot and she glanced around the dark alleyway but it was silent and creepy.
She decided to go back to the street where she last saw Roxanne but she didn’t see the road she took when she was running into the alleyway.
She turned back but also couldn’t find the lady she thought was Roxanne. The whole alleyway was dark and as silent as a graveyard.
Cold fear gripped Ortega immediately and she started trembling.
Does this mean that she’s lost?
