Chapter 679
Chapter 679
Although his eyes were looking at her, his gaze appeared to be looking through her. Just who was he looking to substitute?
There was a time when he kept imagining what the little girl would look lilor after she had grown up. The women that he dated would more or less bear some semblance to that imaginary woman.
However, Serenity wasn’t the one who had saved him all those years ago. It was actually Lynette, the lady sitting before him.
He had seen her photos from when she was around 8 or 9. Sure enough, she looked a lot like the girl from his memories.
However, the grown–up Lynette was completely unlilor what she used to look like. She shared similar facial features with Serenity, especially their eyebrows and jaw, but he could still easily tell these two people apart.
What’s more, the aura they gave off was completely different.
“Luras?”
The sound of Lynette’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts. “You’re not a substitute,” he said.
“Then.. were you really looking for a substitute back then? Or is it just gossip by the media?” asked Lynette as she feigned. innocent curiosity.
Being a seasoned veteran in the showbiz industry, Lucas easily saw through her facade.
It looked like time changes everything, including one’s personality. He laughed at himself pathetically. After spending years thinking and longing for this person, he felt incredibly disappointed when they finally met.
The girl used to be someone with an indomitable sense of justice, someone who held his hand tightly when faced with danger. Could she really have turned into someone who was willing to put money over her dignity?
However, from his investigation and based on Lynette’s old photographs and personal accounts, everything seemed consistent. He had no choice but to accept this reality.
Perhaps he was being too persistent or maybe he was overly obsessed, but his heart felt like a stagnant pool. All of a sudden, he seemed to have lost the purpose of his life.
“Alright, here are the documents for your college admission. You can go through the registration procedures tomorrow,” said
Lucas
“ch, got it.”
Lynette accepted the documents, but she was still dissatisfied with his response. She asked again, “The thing about you and substitutes, is it true?”
Lucas responded by pursing his lips. He stared firmly at her with his pitch–black eyes.
A sense of guilt rose up in her heart instantly.
“You saved my life, and I’m thankful for that. That’s why I’m willing to help you now. However, I still think there are some boundaries you need to respect.”
Both his tone and facial expression remained indifferent. The level of alienation in his eyes shocked Lynette.
It was at this point that she realized that although she had succeeded in Impersonating the person he was looking for, Lacas was not an ordinary person. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
His status in the showbiz industry was well–carned.
His eyes seemed to be capable of seeing through hier lies. What he had sald earlier was a warning for her to troul carefully. He was only willing to talk to her and help her out because she had saved his life mure.
Should the day come when he found out that she had lied to him. Lynette didn’t dare to imagine what would happen to her.
