Lisa made it sound easy, but Serenity was still a little worried. Would it really be that simple?
“Hey, don’t worry. I left Terry without saying goodbye, but I didn’t do anything bad. It’s not a grudge either. It’s just… Well, it was a one–night affair. I hope I won’t be too harsh on me,” Lisa reassured.
Lisa did not want Serenity to worry about her. She knew Serenity was already having a hard time just staying by Jackson’s side.

Serenity sounded embarrassed and depressed when she talked about begging Jackson.
Serenity had come to help Lisa yesterday, after all. Lisa knew what it meant for Serenity to beg Jackson for help. How could she not understand it?
Jackson was like a nightmare to Serenity. He was the cause of her darkest pain and misery.
Lisa noticed Serenity’s worries and gave her a reassuring smile. “Okay. Got it.”
Lisa said that because she did not want to worry her best friend. She would eventually solve the issue and work things out with Terry.
The two chatted for a while. After that, Serenity looked at the time. It was almost time for her interview, so she got up and planned to leave.
“Is it an interview for a job as a delivery rider?” Lisa asked.
“Yeah” Serenity nodded. “I sent my resume two days ago. This moming, I got a call to go for an interview.”
“Then go for it! I wish you success,” Lisa encouraged
After Serenity had left, Lisa headed to the bus station. She wanted to take a bus to pick up her car from the parking lot.
Lisa’s car was still in the private parking lot. Terry had taken her away suddenly, leaving her car behind. Lisa felt the pain as she thought about the parking fee she would need to pay for leaving her car there for almost an entire day.
Earning money these days was hard. The small design firm Lisa worked at had recently announced a salary change Lisa’s employer would only pay 80% of the monthly salary and keep the remaining 20% in the year–end bonus. It was effectively a wage cur. The employee was putting together 20% of the monthly wages and treating it as the year–end bonus.
Just as Lisa was about to walk to the bus stop, a car pulled up in front of 1.isa
Her scalp tingled at the sight of the car. “That’s… It’s Terry’s car!” Lisa had been caught and dragged into this car yesterday.
The car window rolled down, and Terry’s delicate face came into Lisa’s sight.
Lisa took a step back subconsciously, trying to keep a distance from him.
Terry’s eyes narrowed slightly. It stung seeing how she backed away subconsciously.
“Don’t you want your phone? Terry asked.
