Desmond quickly added, “Yeah, she used to be a lawyer. Besides, she knows a big shot now… If she really sues us, I don’t think we have any chance of winning.”
Henry rubbed his chin and said unhappily, “Then you three take care of the remaining three quarters of the bills.”
“Us?” Theresa asked in disbelief.
“What else can we do? Wait for that girl to sue?” Henry glared at his daughter, “If you don’t pay for the medical bills, you won’t get a dime of the resettlement compensation!”
Theresa instantly shut up. Although she was already married, Henry had promised to share some of the resettlement compensation with her.
Her whole family was counting on the resettlement compensation!
If Serenity really sued them, they might actually have to give her a share of the resettlement compensation too.
Everybody there exchanged glances. In the end, they could only try their best to come up with the money together.
Serenity returned to her grandmother’s ward and found that she was asleep. Serenity sat down by the hospital bed and quietly stared at her grandmother’s sleeping face.
The grandmother who had always protected her had grown old and needed her protection now.
If she actually had the money, she did not mind paying all of her grandmother’s medical bills by herself. However, the harsh reality was she barely had enough money to survive. There was no way she could afford to pay the medical bills by herself.
Now that she had threatened her relatives with the resettlement compensation, she believed they would make sure her grandmother got proper treatment.

When she walked out of the ward unit, she saw a familiar figure coming out of the outpatient building at the same time.
Serenity was surprised. She did not expect to run into lacas Gomez at a place like this.
He was alone
Lucas saw Serenity as well. His eyes brightened. He came over to her and said, “What a coincidence.”
“Yeah, what a coincidence,” she replied. She tried to walk past him.
But he immediately reached out to stop her and said, “The last time I bought you dinner, it didn’t turn out to be very pleasant. Why don’t you let me take you out to dinner again as an apology for last time?”
Serenity knew that Lucas was talking about the incident with his ex–girlfriend, Lyra Ross.
Speaking of Lyra Ross, Serenity remembered she would often come across her news on the internet a while back, but recently, there was no news about her at all, as if no such person existed in the entertainment industry.
“How’s that ex–girlfriend of yours doing?” Serenity could not help but ask, but the moment the words left her mouth, she instantly regretted it. It wasn’t her place to ask.
