The driver immediately turned the car around and headed towards the hospital.
When Jackson arrived at the hospital, Master Zack was still getting emergency treatment. Jackson waited outside the emergency room with complicated feelings.
This day would come for even the strongest man.
In the past, he always thought of his grandfather as powerful, ruthless and cold–hearted. The only person his grandfather would show affection to was his father.
Everyone else was just a pawn to him, including his own grandson!
Master Zack only saw Jackson as the future heir of the Valor family, not as his grandson. There was no family love at all between them.
After 2 hours, the door of the emergency room opened. A doctor came out and told Jackson, “Master Zack’s condition has stabilized, but he already had several surgeries before. At his age, it’s a question of when rather than if. Maybe he has a few years left, maybe a few months- no one can say for sure.”
Jackson naturally understood no amount of money could stop someone from growing old and dying.
Master Zack was sent to the intensive care unit for post–surgery observation.
Two days later, Master Zack left the intensive care unit. Only then could Jackson talk to him face to face once again.
“I heard you were waiting outside the emergency room while I was having surgery the other day,” said Master Zack. His voice was a bit softer than usual, seemingly still weak from the surgery.
“Yeah,” Jackson responded indifferently.
“Well, I’m sorry you have to wait outside the emergency room for an old man like me,” said Master Zack.
Jackson looked at Master Zack flatly. “Grandpa, you asked someone to summon me here. Is that all you want to tell me?”
After the nurse helped Master Zack take two sips of water, he asked everyone else in the ward to leave, leaving only Jackson behind. He then said, “I’ve investigated the woman called Serenity Lewis. She’s not a good match for you. You should just pick one of the young ladies from the various prestigious families in Solaria.”
“I decide if she’s a good match for me, not you,” Jackson retorted.
The grandfather and the grandson stared at each other. A tense feeling filled the air.
After a while, Master Zack coughed a few times and sighed. He really had grown old. He managed to raise his grandson into a qualified heir, but found that his grandson’s growth had far exceeded his expectations.
Now, the pup had grown into a fierce beast, but he could no longer be the beast tamer.
“Does that mean you think she’s a good match for you?” asked Master Zack.
“Is that important?” Jackson asked back instead of answering
Master Zack became visibly angry. “Tell me honestly, do you love her?”
His old and cloudy eyes stared fixedly at his grandson, as if to take note of every little change in his expression.
