I woke up the next morning with the worst case of anxiety I’d ever had. My stomach was rumbling for food and my head ached a great deal, I could barely breathe because Kade said the children would be here today. 

I quickly sent for Valora and she helped me with painkillers after a very satisfying breakfast of fry-up and hot tea. I took my bath and Valora helped style my hair.

“Nervous?”She asked as I sat in the sitting room, waiting for when they arrive. 

“I’m losing my mind.”I said as I fiddled with my nails.

“Where is Kade?”I asked and she looked around as if searching for him before she said, “Maybe he is also nervous to meet his children.” 

What? They’re not his children. What is she talking about? Maybe she is joking.

I laughed and watched her reaction but she didn’t laugh, she just pursed her lips and stared at the table.

“You weren’t joking?”I asked as my smile faded and a frown no doubt formed on my face.

“Nervousness isn’t funny, I have so many cases of those and I don’t make jokes about them.”She said simply. 

“But they’re not his childr-”

“- Valora help me with Zeus’s bath will you?”I heard Kade say. I turned around and found him casually dressed in a black, long sleeved shirt that stuck to his body and dark blue jeans with black and white sneakers on. He looked like how he used to in highschool, especially with his hair slicked back and his glasses on. 

I almost forgot how cute he was when he woke glasses and that was because he never wore those again after prom night. I heard he wore contacts lenses instead because he didn’t want to look like a nerd. 

This time around, he wasn’t looking cute, his masculine features was too prominent to call him cute. If he wan into acting, he would make a good Clark Kent with the way he was looking. 

“Sure thing,”Valora said as she smiled at him and he smiled back. Suddenly, I got jealous. What if Valora is who he really likes? I mean, he wasn’t cold with her like he is with Victoria. 

I looked away from him and unconsciously twirled my hair in my fingers as I thought about how I would receive my children when they come. 

“Good morning your highness,”he said sarcastically and I rolled my eyes. 

“Please don’t start I beg you.” 

“they’re just children relax.”He said with a scoff right after and took out his phone.

“They’re not just children Kade, they’re babies I never got to hold in my arms because of your mother!”I said and he shrugged. 

“Isn’t that a little too tight for you?”I asked pointing at his shirt and he smirked.

“It’s just how I like it.”He said with a smug expression on his face Andi groaned and looked away from him.

“What’s with the hair? I guess if they don’t like you they’d at least like your hair.”He said and I started to feel that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree when it comes to his case. He was just as annoying as Klyde.

“You’re just as annoying as your blockhead brother.” 

“That’s wrong though, I’m worse.”He said and I scoffed.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

“Where’s your phone? The one I gave you.”He asked and I just threw it at him.

“Damn, if I were your kids I’d be terrified of you.”He said and I glared at him but he just stole a glance at me before he scrolled through my phone while his sexy lips curled into a smile. He was enjoying picking on me! Since when was that a thing for him? 

I suddenly didn’t want to ever see him smile – at least not like that. 

“What are your reviews, is the phone good or no?”he asked.

“The phone is trash but does it really matter? You’re not gonna release it now until a year’s time so whatever.” 

He said nothing but I could see him frown as I looked at him from the corner of my eyes.

“Thanks.”He said immediately after and threw the phone at me but I couldn’t catch it so it fell on the floor.

I picked it up and glared at him when I saw that the screen broke. 

“You really threw it with that much force huh? Like what is even your problem?”I said as I got up and charged at him.

“Thought the phone was trash, I just made it official . Where’s the crime in that?”he said and I never felt the urge to slap someone across the face like I was now. Why was he trying to get me in a sour mood before I see my children?

“I’ll wipe that smug look from your face. I swear I will!”I said as I grabbed his phone with the intent of smashing it but he wouldn’t let go. He looked very amused that I was using two hands to grab a phone he only held with one. 

“Hello!”I heard Emelia say as the door opened and she came walking through the doors with three little children behind her. Kade pulled me to himself and I fell on his thighs, when he placed his hand around my waist and brought me close to his side, I blushed and tried to cover my cheeks with my hair awkwardly.

“I see you two are…getting along.”Emelia said and I flushed when I felt kade’s chest vibrate as his spoke with a deep bass, “Why wouldn’t we?”he said.

“Of course you should. Children, go meet your Dad and Mom.”Emelia said but they just stood there and moped at us. 

“It’s okay. You can sit on the sofa if you’re shy.”Kade said with a smile and Dani looked at her brothers before she sat down on the sofa opposite us while her brothers sat with Emelia on another sofa.

“How’re you doing?”I asked Dani but she just frowned at me. I was genuinely scared of how her face turned so unpleasant as she frowned at me. What did I ever do to her?

“We’re fine.”One of the boys responded with a forced smile and I made up my mind to know why they were being so awkward with me and why Dani was openly nasty to me.

“Have you had breakfast yet? Valora can get you something nice to eat.”I said with a smile and Dani scoffed.

“Don’t you cook? Why’d you have to make someone do everything for you?”she said. 

“Don’t talk to your mother like that Dani. It’s disrespectful.”Kade said and she looked surprised that he scolded her.

“I won’t hesitate to discipline any of you if you behave recklessly do you understand?”he said sternly and they nodded their head, except Dani of course. She looked offended. 

“You’re not even our Dad.”She said and Emelia held back what I was very certain must’ve been laughter. 

“I am,” 

“Its disgusting. Why would our uncle marry our mom huh?!” 

“I am your father.”Kade said and I stared at him. The look in his eyes would’ve made a grown adult pee their pants but somehow Dani wasn’t moved by it. This child was something else.

“It’s true Dani. He is your father.” Emelia said, my eyes narrowed as I looked at her. 

“What are you and your mom talking about?”I asked in a low whisper.

“Valora…”Kade said and she took the children to their room I suppose while he looked at me. 

“I’m not their father but the DNA tests she brought says I am.”Kade said. I got up from his thigh and stared at him in bewilderment. 

“She’s lying to you! We’ve never had sex before you know that.”I said to him but he shook his head. 

“It seems we did because I got a test done on the children without my mother knowing and it was the same thing.” 

“That’s ridiculous! We’ve only ever kissed, look you’re going to confuse the kids.” 

“You two have had sex before.”Emelia said as she crossed her legs and clasped her hands. 

“It’s a lie, what do you have to gain from this anyway?” 

“Shut up and sit down! I know everything about my children Viola.”She said but I refused to sit down.

“Do you really think I just hate you for the sake of it? No! I hate you because you complicate things. From the second Kade introduced you to me as his girlfriend I knew you were trouble.” 

“if you knew Kade is truly the father why did you introduce the kids to Klyde as the father? You’re the one who is nothing but trouble!”I retorted.

“I had no idea Klyde wasn’t the father. It was one of our former employees who I fired some years back that came to me blackmailing me with a tape he claimed would throw the internet into a mad circus! 

I had to pay a bloody huge amount of money just to keep him shut and then when I saw the video I realized why it would’ve been a disaster if the video got to the public.”She said, her veins in her throat were popping as she glared at me, her eyes seething with so much hate as she looked at me.

“What was in it?” 

“A video of you and I having sex after being drunk.”Kade said and I became silent. 

“It was after finding out about you and my brother. I got drunk, I guess you got drunk too and I don’t know…we had sex.”Kade said, looking so confused as he spoke.

I took in a deep breath and laughed sarcastically before I asked Emelia for proof of her claim. She scoffed and handed me a flashdrive.

“Don’t mom, it’s nasty Viola you don’t want to see that “Kade said but I glared at him and took the flash upstairs to his room while he followed me closely.

“Viola stop!” 

“You’ve seen this?”I asked angrily as I tucked the flash in my bra. 

“I haven’t seen it but I know you shouldn’t just –”

“– let her take a look Kade, seeing is believing.” 

“Shut up! Why’d you have to break it to her like that?”kade lashed out at her. 

“unlock your laptop.”I said to him but he looked at me as if pleading with me but I wouldn’t bulge. 

“Fine, deal with whatever you see in there all by yourself!”he said before he typed in his password and I inserted the flash and played the video that came up.

My eyes widened and my heart slammed against my chest as I saw myself knocking frantically on kade’s door. He comes out looking very messed up and I could tell he was drunk and so was I. 

“I’m sorry kade. I really don’t want to be with Klyde anymore, I just want to make you happy again.”I was saying. I looked so desperate and stupid as I begged him. 

Kade laughs and tells me, “My brother had you furst.”But then I shake my head and say to him, “you could be my last.” 

That’s how he takes me into his room and shuts the door behind him. I hear our moans and feel extremely disgusted at myself but just as I close my eyes and regret all my life decisions, I hear my shrill scream and struggle to see what’s happening because the video gets so shaky all of sudden. 

But I hear someone yelling, “Master kade stop you’ll kill her!”the camera suddenly seems stable but all I can see is my self on the floor bleeding on my head as I lay on the ground naked while the man struggles to get aa gun from Kade. He used it to knock Kade out and that’s where the video ends. 

I closed the laptop and stared at Kade but he didn’t look at me. He was facing the wall and then I looked at Emelia who gave me a cold glare.

“You see why I hate you? You made Klyde a covetous brother and then made Kade a potential murderer. To think I didn’t believe the man when he told me what happened because I already heard about the scandal with Klyde that I couldn’t believe that something worse than that could happen! I should’ve known that you were just an accident waiting to happen. 

After all these years, the man came to me with this video for which I paid a huge amount of money just so it never gets to the public. You have no idea how much I was mad at you Viola, you just don’t!”She lashed out at me as I felt tears trickle down my cheeks. No one has ever said such cruel and blunt things to me in my entire life. 

“I was furious and decided to do a test on the kids a day before the wedding and the result was just devastating. But since Kade already had one of his father’s requirement to inherit the family business all that was left was for him to be married. I had no part in this, I didn’t want you to marry my son but here it is. Knowing how slutty you are, Kade wouldn’t even be able to go through two days with you before he breaks and sleeps with you then he’ll be trapped in a life he doesn’t want!”she yelled at me.

“I love my sons, I admit that I did some very cruel things to them and also to you but it was only because I wanted to reach you all a lesson. All that did for me was get my sons hating me even more. 

You better not screw up this wedding so Kade can have he life that he wants else God knows what I would do to you Viola Walden!!”she finished and stormed out of the room. 

I cried my eyes out at Emelia’s outburst. The only thought that ran through my head was me asking myself why I was always causing pain to those around me. 

The fact that I was alone in the room with no one to pacify me made me feel so devastated. Kade must’ve left me and gone after his mom. 

I felt a small hand hold mine and I opened my eyes, surprised to see one of my sons in front of me. 

“Don’t cry”he said as he smiled faintly at me.

“Grandma can be very mean sometimes, I don’t think she’s normal.”He said whispering the last part. I found myself smiling at his innocence, he really didn’t know anything about what happened but I was so happy he spoke to me.

I embraced him tightly and whispered in his ears, “Thank you. Mom loves you so much” 

I felt the tightness in my chest disappear when he giggled and said, “I Know mom.”
