Chapter 267
Chapter 267
Chase flashed an impish grin. “If you’re so eager, Grandpa, meet her yourself. Like I said, my marriage is my business, and I’m not up for any arranged stuff.”
“Darn it! What’s wrong with that young lady that you’re so against her? You used to carry her on your back when you were kids.”
“Granddad, I’ve given piggyback rides to plenty of girls. Am I supposed to marry all of them? Enough of this. I’ve got stuff to do. Gotta run.” After saying that, he winked at Sasha, signaling her to end the call.
Sasha, with mischief written all over her face, teased him, “Not even curious to meet your betrothed? What if she’s a knockout? You’d be missing out, buddy.”
Chase rolled his eyes at her. “Even if she were Aphrodite herself, I wouldn’t marry her!”
Right then, Sasha’s phone pinged with a new message. It was from her mom. She tapped the screen and saw a photo of a roguish, carefree man. Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
As her eyes focused on his features, they widened in shock. It was none other than the guy right in front of her.
When she read her mom’s text, Sasha’s heart skipped a beat. [Sasha, this is the man picked out for your arranged marriage. He’s quite handsome. Don’t you think? Maybe give it a thought?]
Meanwhile...
Clara hung up the phone and closed her eyes, trying to regain her composure. Now that Ian had brought her home, Sierra and Heidi wouldn’t let her off easily. She had to stay vigilant.
The bedroom door swung open, and Ian stood there in sleek black leisurewear. His dark eyes were unfathomable, his features were sharp, and the seductive curve of his eyes was enough to make anyone swoon.
He strode over to the bedside and set a tray down on the nightstand. Leaning over, he planted a kiss on Clara’s lips. His husky voice resonated close to her ear.
“Exhausted, are you?”
Clara’s face was taut as she looked at him. “What do you think?”
He nuzzled her neck, with a playful smirk on his lips. “I wanted to take it slow, but you kept urging me to go faster. I couldn’t very well disobey my wife, now could I?”
“Shut up! Who’s your wife?”
Ian’s smile deepened as he gazed at the pouting woman before him.
“Alright, I’ll zip it. How about hubby feeds you some food?”
“I told you, I’m not your wife.”
Annoyed, Clara kicked at him, but Ian caught her ankle and kissed it. His gaze was heavy with unspoken desire. “Close your eyes. I’ve got a present for you.” His warm palm caressed her thigh gently, each touch sending shivers across her skin.
Clara didn’t want to engage with him, so she buried her face in the pillow. Suddenly, a cool sensation encircled her ankle. She felt something being fastened there, and a soft, pleasant jingle reached her ears.
Stunned for a moment, Clara remembered something Ian had mentioned the night before. He said he’d hang a bell on her ankle so he could easily control the rhythm during their intimate moments.
At the thought, Clara’s eyes snapped open. A glittering diamond anklet now adorned her ankle. The platinum chain and pink diamonds made her skin look even more radiant. Attached to the clasp was a tiny bell, no bigger than a thumbnail, chiming sweetly with the slightest movement.
Clara could already imagine how tantalizing the sound would be during their lovemaking. “Ian, take it off now.”
Ian pulled her into his embrace and kissed her lips softly. “Clara, don’t you want to see how it works?”
