Next One Is a Babe

Chapter 2112

Chapter 2112

On one side, Ian sighed and said, "Thankfully, everything worked out well enough for you toward the end and you got your life back on track."

Aurora nodded and agreed wholeheartedly, "Indeed, things did get better."

Presently, he did not have the appetite to stomach dinner right now, and he hardly took a few bites of food before he set his utensils down. He glanced at the time and said, "The both of you should carry on with dinner. I have to get to the set now before I'm late to meet the crew."

Cindy got up to see him off, and when they reached the front door, he couldn't resist turning back to pull her into his arms before capturing her in a ferocious kiss.

She blushed and grew worried that Aurora might see them, but he pinched her cheek tenderly and said, "What are you so worried about? We're legally married, remember?"

Cindy laughed when she heard this and hummed in response. "You're right. We're legal now, and we can do whatever we want."

Ian hauled his suitcase over to the elevator, and it wasn't until he was out of sight that she turned to enter the apartment.

Aurora had already set her utensils down. She didn't feel like eating either, and after the heavy lunch she had earlier, she wasn't that hungry now.

On the other hand, Cindy was starving. She went back to the dining table and continued her meal before asking, "Did that man say anything else? Is he planning to leave or whatever?"

Aurora leaned into her seat and replied, "I didn't ask, and I never replied to any of his texts." On the one hand, she didn't feel like she needed to respond, and on the other, she was worried that the man was working for a team who was using him to bait her reaction. She certainly didn't want any of her texts to end up being taken out of context for the benefit of a scandal.

The man might be stupid, but she wasn't.

Cindy paused in thought for a moment, but she decided to keep quiet in the end. There were some things she felt that she didn't have to bring up, at least not in the present. She would much rather see how things played out on their own.

After they finished dinner, Aurora suddenly suggested, "Let's go for a walk. I've been cooped up at home the whole day, and I'm bored out of my mind."

Upon hearing this, Cindy looked out the window and saw that the weather was lovely. It was neither too cold nor too warm, and there appeared to be a light breeze as well. As such, she agreed to the idea and replied, "Let me get changed and we'll leave."

She placed her phone on the table and got up to head into the bedroom. After putting on a new set of clothes, Cindy left the room when she saw that Aurora was coming her way with her phone in hand.

Cindy raised a brow and asked, "What's wrong? Did something happen?"

Aurora glanced at the phone and shrugged. "Oh, the person hung up. There was a call for you earlier; I was going to pass it to you, but the person has already ended the call."

Cindy took the phone and looked at the call log, only to see Gary's name and number. It seemed like he had hung up after the third ring, and she wasn't sure what he was up to. If he truly had something important to talk to her about, he wouldn't have hung up so quickly. Conversely, if it was nothing important, he wouldn't have called her in the first place.

She clutched her phone hesitantly. After thinking for a moment, she said, "Aurora, can you give me a second while I return the call? I just want to make sure it's not an emergency."

Aurora didn't think much of it. "Of course, go right ahead."

Cindy didn't want to make the call in front of Aurora, for she didn't think she could act naturally while speaking with Gary. With that in mind, she took her phone and made the call while she was on the balcony. However, he did not answer for a while.

She couldn't understand what was going on. She had returned his call after minutes, so he couldn't possibly have work to do all of a sudden.

When the first call didn't go through, she waited for a minute or two before calling him again.

She was thinking that if he refused to pick up this time, she would forget about returning his call and pretend as if he had never called her in the first place, and that it had been a mistake on his part.

Much to her surprise, he actually answered this time. His voice was still as deep as usual as he greeted, "Hello?"

She pursed her lips as she pondered on her question. Then, she asked, "Did you call me earlier to tell me something? I'm sorry I missed it."

"Oh," he said. "I was going to tell you something, but I changed my mind after that because it's not that important." This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.

The way he said it only made her all the more curious and confused. She was silent for a good two seconds before she pressed, "Is it really nothing important?"
