Next One Is a Babe

Chapter 2079

Chapter 2079

It seemed as though their exhaustion was purely because they had both overexerted themselves.

After they had their meal, Cindy leaned into her seat and moaned out loud, "I'm back from the dead!"

Her belly had a small bump because of all the food that she had eaten. Seeing that, Ian began to imagine what she would look like if she was at least 3 months pregnant. Just the thought of it was enough to melt his heart and fill it with unspeakable joy.

Since she was clueless to the thoughts currently running through Ian's mind, she soon stumbled her way to the couch and lazily plopped down on it. "When are you going to the company? Ms. Jones wants you to head over when you have the time," she said to him out of nowhere.

"At least not now." He sighed. "I don't really feel like going because I already know what she wants to tell me."

Hannah was definitely looking for him to discuss the contract, and since he hadn't properly thought about it, it wasn't something that he wanted to talk about now.

It was a complicated decision for him to make. On one hand, he didn't want to extend his contract with the company, but on the other hand, he had no clue what he wanted to do if he didn't sign the extension.

Cindy let out a soft hum and closed her eyes in agreement. "It might be better for you to go to the company a little later. Doesn't seem to me like much is going on there, anyway."

Ian walked over to sit beside her, and after placing her legs on his thighs, he started to gently massage her calves. "Exactly." He let out another sigh. "I'm sure the company has to deal with the problems within the crew. I don't really want to talk about this now. I'll only look for her some other time."

They continued to take their rest on the sofa when Ian's phone on the dining table began to ring.

"Could it be Ms. Jones calling you to see you at the company?" she humorously asked.

As he stood up and slowly walked toward his phone, he grumbled, "I'll need to think of an excuse to reject her then." Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

He had already reached the dining table by the time he said that. However, after he lowered his gaze to look at his phone, he came to a halt before a frown appeared on his face.

After a while, Cindy realized that Ian hadn't picked up the call, so she turned her head to look at him.

She noticed that Ian was already holding his phone in his hand, but he didn't seem like he had any intention of answering the call.

His phone continued ringing even as she sat up from the sofa that she was lying down on. "What is it? Why aren't you picking up? Who is calling?" she asked succeedingly.

Ian didn't say a word, and only walked to Cindy and showed her the screen that had lit up.

She was caught off guard as soon as her eyes fell on the caller ID, but it didn't take long before her smile returned on her face. "It seems like Yulia can't get you out of her head."

Unlike the cheerful expression on her face, he had a sour face as he muttered, "I really don't know what the hell she wants. She has been doing this to me everyday."

"Do you think she is calling to ask whether we have a certificate of marriage?" Cindy asked hesitantly.

She wouldn't be surprised if Yulia could guess that they had already gotten their certificate since the woman had made correct guesses about a few things in the past.

A smile immediately broke out on his face after he heard her words. "Don't jinx it! It might be true."

A smile immediately broke out on his face after he heard her words. "Don't jinx it! It might be true."

However, even if that was the case, Ian had no intention to pick up Yulia's call because he had nothing to say to her.

He had already said what he needed to to her before. Even if the situation called for them to have a conversation, he still had nothing that he could make himself say to her.

Fortunately, Yulia didn't bother him for long, as she didn't call him a second time when the first call went unanswered.

Cindy leaned against the couch once again and crossed her leg over another, shaking her foot ever so slightly. "She must really like you. She must have taken a gamble for someone as prideful as her to pester you like this," she mused.

Ian pouted in response, and even though it might sound like a pity, he didn't have the least bit of interest in Yulia. It didn't matter whether it was her temperament, looks or style—there was nothing

about her that he liked.

She had been forceful when she insisted on becoming his friend. Just the thought of becoming more than that with her was unthinkable for him. He would refuse the offer a hundred times if he could.

Sticking close to Cindy, he leaned over and kissed her. "I don't like her as much as she likes me," he commented.

Ian didn't need to tell her that for her to know. She sat up straighter in her seat before she hugged his waist and complained, "I'm the only person whom I allow you to like. You can't like anyone else. I have the law to protect me now!"
