Chapter 979 Julien Got Good Luck
Chapter 979 Julien Got Good Luck
When Brandon was diagnosed with kidney failure, Julien thought Brandon had bad luck and had been struck by doom. He didn't think about Brandon's family history of genetic disease.
'How negligent I was not to realize it might be a family genetic disease! Fortunately, it wasn't too late!'
Julien rubbed his brows and sent Finn a message: [I see. Have they found a suitable kidney for Brandon?]
Although Finn was not Brandon's attending doctor, with his position in the hospital, it was easy for him to learn about a patient's medical records.
Seeing Julien's question, Finn gave a succinct reply: [No.]
Julien was not surprised by Finn's reply.
Actually, he already knew that. He just wanted to double check with Finn.
Glancing out of the corner of his eye at Sydney, who was eating next to him, and seeing that she wasn't paying attention to him, Julien sent another message to Finn: [You mentioned that there was one person with genetic kidney failure almost every three generations. Do you mean that the disease passes on every three generations?]
Julien would be relieved if the disease passed on every three generations.
Since Brandon inherited the disease, Sydney shouldn't get it.
However, when Finn saw Julien's question, he couldn't help but laugh. He rolled his eyes and sent a voice message: [How is that possible? There is no law of inheritance for genetic diseases. It would be a relief if it passes on every three generations.
"However, it isn't the case. Sometimes the disease passes on in every generation, and sometimes the disease is passed on to the offspring only after several generations. In short, we cannot predict who will inherit the disease."
Julien converted the voice to text. Seeing Finn's reply, Julien's heart sank.
The disease didn’t pass on every three generations. It was a coincidence that Brandon was in the third generation after the last member of their family to get the disease.
Therefore, the likelihood of Sydney getting the disease was very high.
Julien clenched his fists. He didn't ask any more questions.
But Finn was curious: [Why do you care about the Madden family's genetic disease?]
Julien compressed his lips: [Leaf is Brandon's daughter. Have you forgotten that?] ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
Julien had told Finn about that.
Seeing Julien's reply, Finn immediately narrowed his eyes and became serious. The careless look on his face was gone.
He was leaning back in his chair, but now he sat up straight.
Clearly, he was shocked.
Finn knew that Brandon was Sydney's biological father, but he didn't think Sydney might have inherited Madden's family genetic disease.
Finn pushed his glasses upward and sent a message to Julien: [Bring Sydney to the hospital and I will give her a thorough examination."
Seeing Finn's message, Julien relaxed his frown and replied, [I have that intention too. I’ll take her to the hospital tomorrow. She still doesn't know Brandon is her father. I lied to her. I told her I was worried about her, so I wanted her to have an examination. Don't spill the beans.
Finn gave a snort, [I know that. I'm going to take a closer look at Brandon's medical records."
Julien replied with an OK, and then he put the phone down. But he was still nervous.
Sydney turned to him and asked, "Have you guys finished talking?"
"Yes." Julien kept a calm face.
Sydney didn't have any suspicion. She didn't know Julien was lying to her. After hearing Julien's answer, she nodded her head and didn't ask anything. She put some food on his plate. "Okay. Eat some food. You haven't eaten anything."
Hearing Sydney's words, Julien curled up the corners of his lips and answered tenderly, "All right."
After dinner, Sydney went to the bathroom. Then they were about to go home.
It was after 9:00 p.m. It would probably be 11:00 p.m. after they got home. Sydney had been busy all day, so she was feeling tired.
Sydney stood outside the restaurant, watching the cars on the road and waiting for Julien, who had gone to pay the bill.
A few minutes later, Julien came out with a ticket in his hand and he had a strange look on his face, a little shocked, a little incredulous.
It was the first time Sydney had seen Julien look like that. She was worried about him, so she asked hurriedly, "Julien, what's wrong?"
Julien handed her the colorful ticket and said, "I won a prize."
"What?" Sydney froze for a moment.
Julien repeated once more, "I won a prize."
The corner of Sydney's mouth twitched. "Really?"
"Yes." Julien nodded and gestured for her to look at the ticket in her hand.
Sydney then looked down at the ticket and read it carefully. He got one free night in a luxury couple's hotel suite.
Sydney was stunned. She looked at the ticket in her hand and then looked up at Julien, who still had a dumbfounded look on his face.
"How... How did you win it? Where did you get it?" She asked.
Julien's eyes blinked and he snapped back to his senses. The dull expression on his face was gone. He made a light cough and said, "I got it in the restaurant. When I went to pay the bill, the owner said I could take a raffle, so I tried. And then..."
"And then you won the prize?" Sydney raised her eyebrows.
Julien nodded, "I’m surprised, too. I've never won a prize before. This is the first time." Therefore, he was dumbfounded.
He had never won any prize in thirty years. He was so surprised!
Looking at the incredulous expression on Julien’s face, Sydney laughed. She found him so adorable.
She could understand how Julien felt.
He had never won a lottery before. It was indeed surprising to suddenly win a prize.
"How do you feel?" Sydney raised her fist to Julien's chin as if it were a microphone.
Julien glanced at her fist and had a smile. Then he replied seriously as if he was at a press conference, "Terrific!"
Sydney continued, "Mr. Flint, can you tell me exactly how you feel?"
Looking at Sydney's smiling face, Julien's eyes became tender. "I don't know how to express it exactly. It was a novel experience."
"Can you tell me more about it?"
Julien gave a thoughtful look and asked, "And I feel happy. I would be happier if Ms. Raines would spend the night with me at the hotel."
He gazed at her. His eyes were so deep, and the smile on his face was tempting.
