Chapter 1824
"I'll keep that in mind for next time!"
Colby had a glum look on his face as he hung up the phone.
A guard grabbed Colby's phone from him. "Governor Petro, your every move will be under surveillance from now on!"
"Morty, could you let me make another phone call? I want to tell my family what happened!"
Colby wanted to call his grandfather.
Who knew? His grandfather might be able to put his connections to good use and help him out.
An aggrieved look appeared on Morty Zamber's face. "I'm sorry, but the rules state that your right to freedom is now restricted, and you aren't allowed access to any communicative devices!"
"In that case, could you contact the Petro family's patriarch on my behalf and tell him that I'm in trouble?"
Colby was hoping that he could get Chekov to inform his grandfather of his predicament.
If his grandfather was willing to speak up, there was no way that Frederic Petro would sit back and ignore him.
Seeing that Morty was still not budging in his resolve, Colby decided to appeal to his sentimental side. "Morty, I've been quite kind to you over the years, haven't I? Wasn't I the one who organized the fundraiser when your grandmother fell gravely ill?" ""Well..."
Morty felt his resolve wavering.
Colby was kind to him, but he could not break the rules!
"Do you know how you managed to purchase a house near that high-ranking public school three years ago?"Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Morty gave Colby an astonished look.
It turned out the governor had played a massive role in helping him secure that house.
"Besides, the rules state that individuals can make supervised phone calls while still awaiting sentencing!" Colby continued wheedling.
However, Morty remained steadfast. "That rule only applies to government officials at the third rank or below. The Inspection Department came out with a new rule last August. Government officials at the second rank and above are not allowed to make private calls while investigations are still ongoing!"
""Private!"
Colby emphasized that word before continuing, "So, I wouldn't be making a private call if I did it in front of the head of security, right?" Morty remained silent.
When Colby was finally escorted into the car, Morty returned Colby's phone to him and said, "You have three minutes!" To err was to be human.
Although Colby had been shirking
his duties in recent years, the fact he had made massive contributions to Capiton before officially assuming his position remained undisputable.

He had helped Morty so much that it seemed unjust to not help him even a little.
Colby immediately contacted his grandfather upon getting his phone back.
Once the call connected, Colby wasted no time. "Grandpa, save me..."
Finnegan frowned slightly. "What did you do this time?"
Colby's voice became thick with emotion. "I got on the Celestial Dragon Squadron's commander's wrong side, and he's launched an investigation against me!"
...
At the old residence, an ugly look appeared on Finnegan's face. "Nash Calcraft again? Didn't Chekov tell you to not get on his wrong side?"
Colby smiled bitterly. “He didn't need
to tell me that for me to know that fact, but I had never seen Nash before I wanted to avenge Nafarov, so I summoned the Mares' patriarch tomy office.
"I didn't expect him to bring along an arrogant young man who happened to be none other than Nash!"
"I'm a businessman and don't have many connections in the political world. You know that too..."
"Granduncle Frederic could help me..."
Colby's voice became panicked.
Frederic was a five-star commander-in-chief. The tables could be turned around as long as Frederic was willing to sound the command.
In a low voice, Finnegan said, "You
know what sort of temper your granduncle has, don't you? He's a stickler for the rules and wouldn't hesitate to throw his brother into jail. What makes you think he'll help you?"
"If he'd been willing to help you, you wouldn't have needed to suffer as much as you did back then!
"Also, Chekov dropped by two hours earlier. Frederic defended Nash with his life!"
Finnegan hung up the phone after finishing his sentence.
Colby felt like he had been struck by lightning, and he lost any motivation he had.
