Chapter 20 Bedroom (5)
Chapter 20 Bedroom (5)
It was nearly 4 o'clock when Johnny arrived home. He just went on the bed and slept. He woke up very
late on the next day, slept until over ten o'clock, ate a bowl of noodles, then he went to work at the
company. Johnny usually could be off from work on weekend mornings, but he hoped that he could
earn some more since he wasn't busy anyway.
He was delivering packages when he got a call.
"Is this the delivery man from express delivery company?" It was the voice of a woman on the other
side.
"Yes, that's right, hello, what can I help you with?" Johnny asked in a polite tone. He had always been
very polite since he worked in that company. You just have to, since you're in the service industry.
"I need to send things out. Can you come and pick it up?"
"Yes, sure, can you tell me the address? I'll go over right away." Once Johnny heard that he'd need to
pick it up, he hurriedly took a paper and pen to write the address down. Commissions of pick-up
deliveries were multiple times more than the commission of merely delivering things.
She told her address to Johnny. After writing it down clearly, he said, "Please wait for a while I'll go over
as soon as I finish delivering the current parcels. In around 20 minutes."
After he was done, Johnny hurriedly rode the tricycle to that address.
That's a single apartment. Johnny went on the elevator and then he stopped in front of the door of the
address and started knocking.
Not long after, a woman opened the door.
She looked like she was around 24 to 25 years old. Even if she was wearing sleepwear with no make-
up on, her appearance still surprised Johnny. She had a delicate face and a tall figure, if Jasmine was a
mature red rose, then the girl in front of him was a fresh and refined lily, different scents but with the
same beauty. She was the second stunning beauty Johnny had met in Pearl City while the first one
was Jasmine.
Johnny was stunned by her beauty. He could only react after a few seconds by smiling and asking,
"Excuse me, are you the one who wants to send a package?"
"Right, that's me, come in!" The girl said politely as she took a pair of sandals for Johnny. Johnny was
quite moved so he hurriedly said thank you, because there were few people who would be so polite
towards a delivery guy. Most of the times people didn't really welcome delivery men to enter the house.
They were treated as low-class workers for most people, just like migrant workers who got looked down
upon.
"You're Johnny, right?" She looked at Johnny.
"How do you know my name?" Johnny felt very strange. He somehow felt that she looked at him with a
very strange gaze. Else than that, he felt some kind of deja vu with her. Perhaps, every man felt some
kind of deja vu when they saw a beautiful woman, maybe in their dreams.
"I..." she was quite nervous but soon after she said, "I called your company."
"Oh, I see. Right, hello, I'm Johnny." Johnny didn't doubt it so he just nodded.
"Hello, I'm Victoria." She stood in front of Johnny and stretched her hand out. Her smile even looked
enchanting.
"Ah, yeah... Hello, hello!" Johnny was stunned, he then shook her hand. The hand he shook was so
soft and the skin of her fingers was so fair. Johnny was quite moved, who would be so friendly to take
the initiative and shake hands with a delivery man? In short, that was the first time Johnny encountered
such case since he started working. Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
"I'll pour you a cup of tea!" She wasn't in a haste to send the package but was going to pour tea for
Johnny. Soon after, she stuck her tongue out and said, "Sorry, I forgot, I don't drink tea so there's no
tea in my house. How about a cup of coffee?"
"No, thanks. There's really no need. Thank you very much. Where's the item that you want to send?
Let's fill the form!" Johnny hurriedly said. How much time would be wasted if he drank the coffee? He
still got many parcels to deliver.
"What I want to send. Wait a second, I'll look for it!" Victoria looked around the room after hearing that.
Look for it? Johnny felt it was a bit odd.
"Right, just send this!" The girl walked to the small side table, took a book, and handed it to Johnny.
Johnny felt strange. It seemed like she just randomly grabbed something in her house to send.
Johnny looked at that book. It was a very famous book, ‘Tiny Times’ by Jimmy Grant, favored by many
women .
"Nothing else?"
"Do I still have to send something else?" Victoria asked in confusion.
Johnny suddenly felt extremely annoyed. "Only you yourself know whether you need to send other
things or not. How would I know that? I'm asking you, are there other things you want to send together?
If there is none then I'll seal your package."
"Oh, I see. There's nothing else, just seal it!" Victoria replied hurriedly.
"Okay then, you just need to fill the form!" Johnny took out a pile of forms and a pen from his own bag,
handed it to Victoria, then he took the wrapper and started wrapping the book.
"It's my first time filling this so I don't know how. Tell me which of these should be filled in." Victoria
asked after looking at the form for quite a while.
"Write the sender's full name, which is your full name, and your address, contact number, and zip code
here. Then write the full name, address, contact number, and zip code of the person you want to send it
to, that's all. I'll help you fill the rest." Johnny explained to Victoria as he had done this many times.
"I have a question. Can I just fill in a random name and address for the receiver?" Victoria asked.
Johnny opened his eyes widely. The first thing he felt was, there might be something wrong with her
brain.
"Miss, I..."
"Haven't I told you that I'm Victoria? Don't call me Miss, it sounds so bad." Victoria was very unsatisfied
with Johnny's way of addressing her.
"Miss Victoria, the receiver's name, address, contact number, and zip code must all be filled correctly.
Otherwise, it'll be impossible for the other party to receive it."
"What will happen if it's not received?" Victoria asked again.
"If the location is wrong or no one sign to receive it, then the express delivery company will send your
package back to you. It'll be very troublesome for us and it'll also cause unnecessary trouble for you,
right? So please confirm the receiver's full name, address, and contact number." Johnny explained in
seriousness again.
"Oh, okay then!" Victoria nodded like she understood. She took the pen and started filling the form.
Meanwhile, Johnny was focusing on wrapping the package.
"Alright, all done." Victoria finished soon and she handed the form to Johnny.
Johnny looked at the form, surprised. He asked, "Send it to Pearl City?"
"Yeah!"
"Are you sure you have written it correctly?"
"Yeah, why? Can't you send it to the local area?" Victoria asked him back.
"You can, but it's just not many people would do so." Johnny didn't bother to care about it so much. She
could send it to wherever she liked. It's none of his business.
"Okay, the shipping fee is fifteen bucks in total." Johnny stuck the form onto the parcel first before
saying that to her.
"Fifteen bucks, so cheap!" Victoria looked astonished.
Johnny didn’t even know what's best to say so he could only smile, "Yes, it is pretty cheap."
Victoria took her wallet, spent a long time to find a twenty bucks, and gave it to Johnny, but Johnny
didn't find a five bucks change on him. He felt sorry as he asked, "Sorry, I don't have 5 bucks for
change. Do you have another 5 bucks? I'll give you 10 bucks."
Victoria took her wallet out and searched carefully. It's full of 100 bucks; let alone 5 bucks, the only 20
bucks was the one she had just taken out.
"Do you have 70 bucks change?" Victoria in the end asked Johnny.
"I have it, but I don't have five bucks. 70 bucks change is useless too!"
"It's useful, how is it useless? This way, I'll send another one and it'll be 30 in total, I'll give you 100 and
you just need to give me 70." Victoria said that as she tidied up her wallet.
"You'll send another one?" Johnny choked, "To the same address?"
"Yeah, let me see, what should I send... Oh yeah, this one!" Victoria looked around again. In the end
she took a fashion magazine and handed it to Johnny.
