Chapter 36
Chapter 36
This sharp voice, tinged with a hint of surprise, sounded very familiar and immediately evoked a sense of disgust from Celeste.
Celeste looked up and gave her a casual glance, “Ms. Denton, long time no see.”
Their boss, who came rushing over, said in surprise. “You two know each other?”
Sydney straightened her coat, smiled, and slowly walked over to sit across from Celeste, “Yes, and we have a special relationship.”
The boss didn’t catch the hidden meaning and laughed, “Ah, old friends! Do you two want to chat privately?”
Sydney glanced at the boss, “We’re just familiar, not really friends”
One sentence clearly defined their relationship, making the boss feel awkward.
However, Celeste didn’t show any emotion and pushed her bag forward, “Here, according to the shop’s rules, please check the goods
first.”
Seeing that Sydney had no objection, the boss took the bag and began to inspect it.
The table in the room was tiny, and the distance between Celeste and Sydney was only about a meter. Still, the tense atmosphere between them made the owner a few meters away feel a bit suffocated.
“Celeste, you’re so shameless, selling other people’s stuff. Don’t you feel embarrassed?”
“I’m just getting rid of some unneeded stuff. Why should I feel embarrassed? By your logic, those who want other people’s unwanted things should feel ashamed, right? But it seems Ms. Denton doesn’t feel that way Celeste laughed.
Sydney’s face darkened. Worried that anything she said would be leaked, she held back her anger.
About twenty minutes later, the owner finished checking the bag and confirmed it was genuine. He then asked Celeste for her asking
price.
“Five million.”
Upon hearing this, Sydney exploded before the boss could even assess the price, “Five million? Celeste, are you going crazy for money? The original price was over two million, and now you want five million? Do you think I’m easy to fool?”
Celeste’s expression remained calm, “If you can buy it for the original price of over two million, why buy a second-hand one? Ms. Denton, this bag is only available to members, you know? Only top members who spend over twenty million are eligible to buy it. Since it’s a like-new bag, I should add some membership fees, right?”
“Membership fees? Celeste, did you even buy this bag with your own money? You’re spending Liam’s money recklessly, and now you want to add a membership fee to sell it? No wonder Liam says you’re greedy”
Celeste’s hands suddenly tightened, and her eyes became cold, “Ms. Denton, the Liam you’re talking about is my legal husband. It’s perfectly reasonable for me to spend his money, and I don’t need you to meddle. If you want this bag, it’s a fixed price of five million, no bargaining if you can’t afford it, then don’t waste each other’s time. I’m very busy”
“You’re saying I can’t afford it?” Sydney was furious, “I’m just questioning whether your price is reasonable. This bag is only valued at three million, but you’re asking for five million. It’s totally disrupting the market order!”
Celeste laughed. “Ms. Denton seems to have misunderstood. We’re dealing with personal private property here, not market rules. If the deal goes through, I only need to pay value-added tax, which is not against regulations. Besides, the value pricing is for the buyer’s reference. The item is mine, and the pricing is my choice. If you think it’s unreasonable, you don’t have to trade.”
“You-” Sydney’s face turned red with anger. Seeing Celeste’s calm expression, she was even more speechless. But then, she suddenly sneered, “Celeste, you saw that the buyer was me and deliberately raised the price, right?”
Celeste didn’t answer and just looked at her indifferently.
Sydney was now more certain of her guess and smiled, “Since it’s not your own stuff, what’s the point of holding onto it?” Originally, she thought that remark would make Celeste angry. In their previous interactions, Celeste didn’t seem like someone who -could stay calm. As long as she got close to Liam, Celeste couldn’t hide her jealousy in the eyes. But the reality disappointed her.
Celeste just glanced at her carelessly. “If Ms. Denton insists on thinking that way, then do you want to buy it?” Sydney couldn’t laugh anymore. If she bought it, she’d feel cheated; if she didn’t, Celeste’s expression seemed to mock her
As if understanding her thoughts, Celeste put the bag back in the box. Just as she was about to close the lid, Sydney suddenly stopped her, “I’ll buy it!”
Celeste stopped and looked at her, “Pay in full.*
Sydney gritted her teeth, “Don’t worry, I won’t shortchange you!”
Five million wasn’t a small sum. Sydney went out to make a call, and Celeste waited
in the room for over half an hour before she

In front of the shop owner, they completed the transaction, and Sydney transferred the five million to Celeste’s account on the spot.
As Sydney signed the papers, Celeste’s eyes were drawn to a familiar diamond bracelet on her wrist.
The bracelet’s design and craftsmanship wem very similar to the one she had returned to Liam before.
After signing. Sydney noticed Celeste staring at her wrist. She raised it and smiled, “This bracelet was a gift from Liam when I made my debut Celeste, did he give you jewelry made of diamonds too? Do you know why?”
Celeste body stiffened slightly, and her fingers slowly clenched.
Her expression said it all, and Sydney’s guess was spot on. But Celeste didn’t want to hear the reason behind it and even felt an urge to
escape.
However, Sydney didn’t give her that chance. She mocked, “It’s because his knowledge of jewelry is based on my preferences, and my
favorite is diamonds.”
“Celeste, let me tell you, Liam has never really loved you. If his grandma didn’t oppose us being together back then, do you think you’d have a chance to marry him? But things are different now,
Sienna Reed is getting old, and she can’t control the family anymore. Sooner or later, everything will fall into Liam’s hands. What do you think your fate will be then?”
Sydney smirked, “If I were you, I’d choose to leave on my own, at least that way you can keep some dignity. But if you get kicked out, well, that would be just plain embarrassing”
Celeste asked her, “When you started your career, Liam and I were already married, right?”
Sydney was a bit baffled, “What?” She didn’t quite catch the meaning of these words at first.
Celeste continued, “So every penny he spent on you comes from our shared property. According to the law, I have the right to claim it back.”
