Chapter 1269

All this trouble over some measly food expenses that Silvia wanted to save on!

Thinking about the potential repercussions and jail time, Helen wished she could throttle her!

She drove straight to Morning Light Kindergarten.

The school gate was swarmed with parents.

She parked her car a distance away, put on her sunglasses and mask, and got out of the car.

As she approached, she could hear the parents angrily ranting. Their crude words were hard to stomach.

Helen pulled up her mask, walked past the parents with a poker face, and went into the yard next to the kindergarten. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

She knocked, but there was no answer. Helen took out her key and let herself in.

Once inside, she removed her mask and stormed in.

Silvia was packing with her husband and didn’t hear the front door.

“Pack all the valuable stuff. The car will come tonight, and we’ll load everything on and leave.”

Helen asked coldly, “What do you think you’re doing?

“Ah!” Silvia clutched her chest, pretending to be startled, and exclaimed, “You don’t make a sound when you walk! You scared the hell out of me!”

Looking at the scattered luggage, Helen asked coldly, “So, you plan to just take off when things go south?”

Silvia evaded her gaze. “Helen, weren’t you at home recuperating? What brought you here all of a sudden?”

Helen scoffed, “You’re asking me why I’m here? If I hadn’t come, you would have just run off with your family and left me to deal with this mess, right?”

Silvia quickly denied, “Oh, you can’t say that. I was forced into this by those parents. I just wanted to find a quiet place.”

“A quiet place? Can this situation be quiet? What did I tell you back then? Why did you have to meddle with the ingredients?”

Silvia, of course, wouldn’t admit it. “Helen, how can you blame me for this? It’s obviously the procurement staff who embezzled the funds. Look at me; I have a house and a car. Why would I care about that little money?”

Helen scoffed. “If you didn’t instruct them, would they dare to do so? Do you want me to call in the accountant to confront you?”

The moment Silvia heard that, she got nervous and then tried to defend herself. “Those parents are just trying to pick a fight. The kids have been eating there for so long, and they’re fine, right? We eat the food from the canteen too. If there were really a problem, would we eat it ourselves?”

Helen couldn’t help but laugh. “If you like eating garbage, that’s your business. But you can’t package garbage as gourmet food and sell it to others. That’s just idiotic! The food samples from the canteen

are being tested. If they find any harmful substances exceeding the limit, it’s not something that can be solved by compensation and an apology. You could go to jail!”

When Silvia heard that she might be facing jail time, her face instantly drained of color, “Is…is it really that serious? Don’t scare me like that.”

“If it wasn’t that serious, do you think I’d be here at this hour? If it wasn’t that serious, I wouldn’t be constantly reminding you not to skimp on the kids‘ food! You need to give this some serious thought!”

Helen wasn’t exactly a saint. She purposely had the school beds made narrow so that if the kids were uncomfortable, she could jack up the tuition under the pretext of getting new beds.

And then there were the toys and classroom chairs; each item was carefully “crafted” by her for reasons she’d rather not disclose. But when it came to food, she was absolutely stringent.

Silvia knew Helen just had a miscarriage and hadn’t fully recovered yet. That she had rushed over must mean she’d caught wind of something.

The thought sent a wave of panic through Silvia.
