Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Shawn thought Liam would definitely come, so he had prepared a table full of dishes. But seeing only
Celeste show up, and Shawn’s face turned gloomy.
He stared at Celeste, carefully observing her expression.
Celeste’s face was serious, and even Shawn, a seasoned mature man, couldn’t figure out her mood for
a while. After a long time, he said, “Let’s eat first.”
Celeste breathed a sigh of relief. Before she got the divorce certificate, she couldn’t let Shawn know, or
there would be
trouble.
In the spacious dining room of the Campbell family, only the three of them were eating at the table.
Celeste had never been close to Shawn growing up. After her mother Caitlyn became a vegetable in a
car accident, their relationship became even more estranged. It wasn’t until she married Liam that the
estrangement eased a bit, but only on the surface.
When Liam wasn’t around, they were more like strangers with blood ties. On the other hand, the
adopted Angel had a closer relationship with Shawn, more like a real father and daughter.
Compared to Celeste’s silence, Angel was sweet and lively, telling jokes at the dinner table to make
Shawn happy. Although those jokes seemed boring to her, Shawn would always laugh along.
Their intimate relationship made her lose her appetite.
“Dad, I recently got a new job, and the clients I deal with have high status. I want to get a higher–end
car to make work easier,” Angel said after making Shawn happy.
“Sure, what kind of car do you want?” Shawn asked.
“It doesn’t have to be a new one. As long as it’s a bit higher–end, an old one will do,” Angel said,
glancing at Celeste, who was eating her food without intending to join the conversation. Angel had no This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
choice but to say bluntly, “Sis, can I borrow your Cayenne for a while?”
Celeste didn’t respond.
Angel continued, “You don’t drive it much anyway, and even if you need it, Liam has so many cars, and
you can use any of them. Just lend it to me for a while. You won’t be that stingy, right, sis?”
“That’s because you don’t know me very well,” Celeste looked up at her, “I’ve never been very
generous, and the car is like a husband. Can you just lend your husband to anyone?”
Angel was choked and her face turned red.
Shawn frowned, “Why do you talk like that? We’re all family. What’s the big deal about lending her the
car for a while?”
