Chapter 459
Chapter 459
Chapter 459 My Sister
While Nathaniel was in a daze, Chitt took Janet into the car.
As if showing off, Chitt held Janet’s bag and shook it slightly with a mocking smile.
“Mr. Webster, we’ll leave now.”
Chitt started the engine started and drove the car away slowly.
Nathaniel’s eyes shone with a lonely gleam, and he stood there for a long time.
Sitting in the co–pilot, Janet’s eyes fell on the buildings
passing by without focus, and a faint melancholy filled her body.
Chitt glanced at Janet and said, “Is Ms. Longfellow reluctant to part with him?”
Janet came back to her senses. “There is nothing to be reluctant about.”
The cool evening wind blowing in made her wake up a lot.
“Let’s not talk about him. I have a question for you.”
She turned and looked at Chitt. “Why do you know me so well?
“Don’t prevaricate me with the reason just now. You know what I mean.”
Chitt choked and rubbed his fingers on the steering wheel.
With Janet’s intelligence, he didn’t expect that reason to deceive her.
Over the course of this afternoon, Chitt and Janet got along very well, as if they had known each other f
or a long time.
As soon as Janet finished browsing the documents, she was handed over a pen by Chitt.
He didn’t even look
1. up.
Chitt stayed on one interface for a while, and Janet tacitly found the relevant charts and
took them to him.
A look, a movement, such familiar cooperation, as if the two had done it thousands of
times.
The light outside the car window hit Chitt’s face, flickering on and off like a person in
an old movie, very unreal.
Chitt remained silent. Should he tell her the truth now?
He chased that person all the way back to the country. If he told Janet now, she would definitely get inv
olved and avenge her parents together.
The knuckles of his fingers on the steering wheel turned white, and his voice was flat
but firm. “I heard it from Donahue.”
Janet’s eyes were fixed on Chitt.
Chitt met her gaze without hesitation. “You are allergic to mangoes. Your favorite drink
is fresh orange juice. You don’t eat chocolate that sweets less than 80%. You only use
lion pens. Donahue told me about these.”
Chitt closed his eyes, hiding his precious tenderness.
He should tell her after taking revenge. Otherwise, if things didn’t go well, Jill couldn’t afford to lose a re
lative once more.
Did Donahue tell an outsider her privacy?
Janet’s doubts prevailed, and she asked again.
“Why would Donahue tell you these insignificant little habits? It doesn’t seem to
help our cooperation much.”
Chitt made up his mind and was much more comfortable with Janet’s cross– examination. He looked ahead and tapped the steering wheel with his fingers.
“Donahue recommended me to work in the Longfellow Group because he hopes I can achieve my own
career at home. He also hopes I can help him take care of you.”

Chitt turned his head. His eyes were like a bay of soft and surging spring water in the flickering light an
d shadow.
“Donahue and I are very good friends. You are his sister, so naturally… my sister.”
Janet’s breath stopped, and she rationally thought these words were too intimate and
fake. But seeing Chitt’s expression, she couldn’t help but believe his words.
“How did you know Donahue?”
Chitt pondered for a moment. “When I was studying abroad, he was my fellow
apprentice.”
“I don’t seem to have heard him mention you.”
Chitt teased. “Maybe because he has too much self–esteem, and he doesn’t want others
to know that his academic level is far behind his junior.”
“Do you have a group photo when you were at school?”
“No, I don’t like taking pictures, and I don’t even like communicating with people.”
“Then why did you become good friends?”
“Probably because we are the same kind of people. We are all stuffy, so we got along naturally.”
“After Donahue returned home, do you still keep in touch?”
“On and off. We are all busy. If there isn’t something important, we won’t chat.”
“Then do you know that Donahue’s company was hacked
three years ago, and he was almost detained for investigation?”
“He told me about it, and I also helped him contact a well–known domestic financial
lawyer.”
“What was the lawyer’s name?”
“Carl. About fifty–five years old this year. He is very experienced and has achieved
countless achievements.”
Janet’s tense shoulders suddenly loosened, and she leaned back on the chair with her
eyes closed. What Chitt said was matched with the information she had investigated.
The little mouth that had been asking questions just now
suddenly became quiet. Chitt gave a little laugh to himself.
“Are you finished?”
Janet nodded. “I’m done.”
“You seem to be wary of me, Ms. Longfellow.” Chitt stared at Janet’s profile.
Janet shook her head. “I didn’t mean it. It’s just that there’s something about you that makes me very… Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
”
“What?”
Familiar.
Janet didn’t answer him and once again denied that guess in her heart.
Chitt couldn’t be her brother, who had already left in that car accident.
He looked a bit similar to her brother and heard what Donahue said about her preferences. That was all
.
Janet felt bitter, but her throat was tight, and her eyes were dry. The sadness seemed to
be contained in a sealed jar, and she couldn’t vent it.
So she could only get used to the pain of longing for sickness in the aftertaste over and over again.
Seeing Janet’s face turn pale, Chitt slowed down the car. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.”
Janet pressed her temples. “Probably because I haven’t slept well in the past few days, and my head is
a little groggy.”
Chitt parked the car in front of Janet’s house.
