Chapter 438 Breaking His Hands

Donahue sat silhouetted against the light, his expression obscured from view. Despite this, Kade trembl

ed in horror at the strong murderous intent emanating from

Donahue’s body.

As Kade watched in terror, two people approached and held him down.

Donahue rose to his feet and advanced toward Kade, each step deliberate and measured.

His polished leather shoes came down on Kade’s wrist with a crushing force, grinding through flesh an

d bone.

“Ahhh…”

Kade screamed hysterically as pain shot through his body.

Donahue loomed over him like a vengeful demon, his eyes filled with cold fury. “This hand is to atone fo

r your daring to harm Jill.”

Kade’s other hand had the same fate. He e nearly passed out from the pain.

“This hand is to pay off your debts for all the bullying you inflicted on Doris.”

Donahue lifted his foot. Kade’s hands lay twisted and broken on the ground, blood pouring from them a

nd staining the concrete floor red.

Donahue sat back down and fixed Kade with a dark stare. “Do you realize your mistake How?”

Kade was in so much pain that his ears were ringing. He could barely hear what Donahue was saying.

But he was afraid that any poor performance on his part would enrage Donahue further.

He knelt on the ground like a beaten dog, kowtowing repeatedly.

“I was wrong! I don’t dare anymore! I was blind and overestimated myself! I shouldn’t have gone again

st Ms. Longfellow!”

Kade had been tortured all night long, and now he was completely broken. “Please

spare my life. I’m willing to be your servant and do anything for you. I don’t want to die, please…”

Donahue was not satisfied with Kade’s answer. He waved his hand, and his subordinate raised a steel

pipe as thick as an arm, bringing it down heavily on Kade’s leg.

The blow nearly shattered Kade’s right leg. He was in so much pain that he almost passed out, his visio

n going black.

“I’ll give you another chance. Do you

know your

mistake now?”

Kade searched desperately in his mind, wishing he could pour

out everything from stealing drinks from classmates when he was a child.

But Donahue didn’t seem to hear

the answer he wanted. The steel pipe struck Kade’s body again. His body was nearly torn apart, and h

e vomited blood.

“I shouldn’t have harmed Doris…‘

At the mention of Doris, Donahue raised his hand to stop his man.

Kade knew he had mentioned something that interested Donahue. He quickly repented,

spilling everything.

I shouldn’t have tricked Doris into signing an unreasonable contract. I shouldn’t have

sent her out to drink with clients. I shouldn’t have drugged her and used her to damage

Ms. Longfellow’s reputation…”

For a moment, Donahue’s eyes flashed with recollection.

“At the Victoria Exhibition a year ago, who did you want to sell Doris to?”

With blood drooling from the corner of his mouth, Kade struggled to recall.

“…I was going to drug her and send her to the editor–in–

chief of Vivi Magazine. I didn’t expect that she would run away that night.

“Because of that, I failed to strike a deal with Vivi Magazine, and Doris saw me in court

the following day.

“The incident was far from small, and the company was embroiled in it. My father pulled all the strings h

e could to settle it.

“But don’t worry. She’s clean!”

Kade seemed to have picked up on Donahue’s strange feelings for Doris and quickly explained. “I was

afraid she’d cause more trouble. Since then, I’ve only dared to take her to the bar and never sent her to

others again!”

Donahue stood up abruptly, causing Kade to crawl back in fright.

Donahue stepped on his head. Kade’s swollen face was squeezed and deformed.

“Remember this: Doris is mine. From today on, she and you are finished.”

Kade nodded with difficulty at Donahue’s feet. “Okay! I’ll transfer her contract to Multiple Star when I ge

t back!”

“There’s no need for all that. This afternoon, no, this noon! I’ll take care of everything by noon. Will that

work?”

Donahue’s cell phone vibrated in his pocket. He glanced at the caller ID but didn’t

swer.

Kade felt the pressure increase several times over. His eardrums nearly burst as

Donahue’s cold voice sounded above him.

“If you ever dare touch Doris again, it won’t be as simple as losing two hands. I’ll make

you wish you were dead.”

With that, Donahue stepped back and wiped his shoes on the ground in disgust.

“Throw him out.”

Two men roughly picked up Kade and tossed him onto the withered lawn. Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

Kade howled in pain as he landed in a puddle. The dirt seeped into his wounds like

poison. His vision went black, and he passed out.

Donahue strode to a corner of the warehouse and answered his phone.

“Jill is fine. The culprit has been taken care of. Don’t worry.”

The one on the other end said something, and Donahue’s eyebrows lifted slightly.

“Have you landed?”

“Okay. I’ll come pick you up right away.”

Janet shook off Nathaniel and asked Marco to drive her to the hospital where Doris was

being treated.

She knocked on the door of the ward and heard Doris‘ weak voice from inside. “Please

come in.”

Janet entered and sat down beside the bed, holding a tonic in her hand. “Are you feeling

better?”

Doris nodded gratefully. “Much better. I haven’t had a chance to thank you yet. If you hadn’t been there

yesterday, I would have died of cardiac arrest.”

Janet blamed herself. “I wanted to warn you about your alcohol yesterday, but I fainted

before I could.”

“It’s not your fault. I wasn’t vigilant enough. Kade came after me and got you

involved.”

Doris smiled knowingly. “Then we’re even.”

Janet didn’t dwell on the topic any longer. She helped Doris adjust the angle of her bed

and chatted with her for a while before turning to the main reason for her visit.

“Last time we talked about your contract, you were hesitant. Are you interested in hearing me out today

?”

Doris couldn’t help but think of Donahue, who had stormed out in anger earlier. The

smile on her face faded.

“I never thought that I, a nobody, would be pursued by entertainment giants,” she said.

with a hint of sarcasm.

Janet looked at her seriously. “Do you know why I chose you to be Peaceral Jewelry’s

chief model?”

Doris shook her

head. At first, Doris thought she had lucked out. But as time passed, she began to suspect that Janet h

ad chosen her because of her connection to Donahue.

Janet had piercing eyes and an air of authority when he spoke about business.

The reason she wanted to hire Doris was partly due to her brother’s interest, but more.

importantly, because she truly admired Doris.

“Most popular idols these days have an outgoing style, while you have a unique

temperament. It’s like you’re fishing in still waters. It sets you apart from everyone else

in the industry.

“In today’s entertainment world, anyone can become a star overnight. Whether or not

you have professional training doesn’t matter. You could still become a superstar with

millions of fans.

“Multiple Star’s star–

making abilities are second to none. If you join us, I can guarantee that you’ll become an unprecedente

d superstar.”

She took all of Doris‘ concerns into account. “Don’t worry about Kade. The evidence you

have is enough to put

him behind bars. Multiple Star’s lawyers will help you win this lawsuit and make sure he never sees the

light of day again.

“All your past troubles will be forgotten. You can start over with peace of mind at

Multiple Star.”
