Doctor is the type of son-in-law or daughter-in-law that they want the most.” Alberto explained in more detail the type of son-in-law or daughter-in-law his parents wanted.

Vega stroked Alberto’s hair. She tried to calm Alberto’s feelings.

“Yeah, that’s true but I don’t know.” Alberto said nervously.

At that moment, the red light had turned green. That means the driver is allowed to drive. So Vega started driving the car.

“Okay. I’ll try.”

Alberto inhaled and exhaled again. He tried to regulate his breathing so that he felt calm. He also tried to push his fear away and calm himself down.

After walking for an hour, they arrived in front of a one-story house that looks simple and minimalistic. There’s only a small space in front of the house to park the vehicle. That’s Alberto’s parents’ house.

Vega immediately parked her car in Alberto’s parents’ yard. Then, they walked to the door of Alberto’s parents’ house.

When they got there, Vega knocked on the door, and Alberto pressed the bell near the door. Soon, an old woman’s voice told them to wait. “Please wait!”

They waited for a while until the door was opened by Alberto’s mother. There were Alberto’s mother and Alberto’s father.

“Hi, Alberto!”

“Hi, Mom, Dad!” greeted Alberto kindly.

“She is Vega.” Alberto introduced Vega.

“Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Cala! I’m Vega!” Vega reached out and shook hands.

“I’m Alberto’s mother.”

“I’m Alberto’s father.”

“Please, come in!”

Alberto’s parents let them in. They went straight into Alberto’s house.

After they entered, Alberto’s parents closed the door and invited them to sit on the chairs.

“Please sit down!”

They immediately sat on the nearest chair. At that moment, Alberto’s mother asked. “Do you want tea or coffee?”

“It’s up to you, Mrs. Cala! My intention is just to visit. I’m not making a hassle.” Vega commented.

“What do you want, Vega? It’s okay. I’ll make it for you,” said Alberto’s mother.

“Vega likes water, Mom.” Alberto whispered to Alberto’s mom because he was afraid of offending Vega.

However, Vega heard it, and she commented. “Yes, Mrs. Cala. I like water. Water is good for health.”

“Alberto, Vega is a guest in our house. How can we just give her a glass of water?” Alberto’s mother commented because she felt uncomfortable giving Vega water.

“It’s okay, Mrs. Cala. Don’t feel bad!” said Vega.

“Okay.” Alberto’s mother went straight to the kitchen and prepared the drinks for them.

At that moment, Alberto’s father started asking questions. “Who is Vega, Alberto?”

“My senior,” Alberto answered.

“Ah! I’m not your senior.” Vega tried to correct Alberto’s answer while she patted him on the shoulder.

“Then, who?” asked Alberto’s father curiously again.

Just then Alberto’s mother came and brought a glass of water for Vega. “Here’s the water!”

“Thank you!” Vega started drinking a glass of water.

“She’s a specialist doctor. I’m her assistant.” Alberto explained.

“Wow! Doctor!” Alberto’s parents’ eyes lit up when they heard that their son is dating a doctor. Alberto’s parents always want their son to have a girlfriend or wife who works as a doctor.

“Wow, Doctor Vega! Do you know Doctor Theo?” asked Alberto’s father.

“Yes, I know him well. He’s my favorite doctor.”

“He’s smart!” commented Alberto’s father.

“Yeah. I agree with you. He’s so smart.” Vega agreed with Alberto’s father.

“I love learning from him, and I love attending his seminars.” Vega commented.

“Wow! Then Doctor Vega is smart too, right?” Alberto’s father asked.

“Yes, she’s smart. She’s one of the favorite doctors at Rege Hospital.” Alberto praised.

“She works at many places. Many patients seek treatment from her and recover.”

“Thank you for the compliment!” Vega only thanked them.

“Wow! So, can I seek the treatment from you, Doctor Vega?” commented Alberto’s mother, who just sat down.

“Yes, you can. You can seek treatment from me whenever you want, Mrs. Cala! Just let me know!” said Vega.

“By the way, how’s my son’s attitude as your assistant, Doctor Vega?” Alberto’s mother was curious about her son’s attitude.

“Good.”

“Does he like to cause trouble?”

“No. Actually, he’s the nicest intern there.”

“Many doctors love working with him. That’s why many doctors like to talk about him. If we’re hanging out, usually we talk about Alberto.”

Then they talked about their daily lives. In the middle of their conversation, Vega’s phone rang.

Vega immediately picked up the call while she asked for permission. “I’m sorry! I must go now.”

“Okay.”

Not long after, Vega heard the caller greet her. “Hello!”

“Hello!” greeted Vega.

“Can you help me, Vega? We have urgent surgeries at Brazon Hospital.”

“Today is Doctor Chico’s schedule. I asked Doctor Chico for help, but I don’t know why there are so many surgeries now. It’s so weird.”

“I’ll go there!” said Vega quickly.

“Please handle it first!” Vega pleaded.

“I’ll be there in an hour.” Vega gave an estimate.

“I don’t know whether I can pass the highway or not. I’m at my boyfriend’s parents’ house.”

“Yeah. It’s quite far from Brazon Hospital.” Vega complained.

Vega asked the caller to wait, and the caller did. She immediately put the phone away from her ear and called Alberto.

“Yes.” Alberto immediately told her the route to the nearest highway.

Shortly after, the call ended. Vega immediately bit her lip.

She looked uneasy. She felt bad to leave them at that time because they had just arrived and were talking.

They hadn’t even been talking for an hour, but Vega already had to leave them. But, on the other hand, her patient needed her help.

She was confused about what to do. She was afraid of being labeled busy and gave a bad impression to Alberto’s parents.

Seeing Vega’s agitated behavior, Alberto immediately asked. “What’s wrong?”

“There are emergency, impromptu operations.”

“I’m sorry, Alberto, Mr. Cala, and Mrs. Cala; I have to go to Brazon Hospital now.” Vega immediately apologized.

“Earlier, I wanted to chat and visit longer, but there are emergency impromptu surgeries. I’m so sorry!” Vega apologized again as she prepared to leave.

After she arrived at her car, she pressed the button and got into it. Then she put on the seatbelt and started driving to Brazon Hospital.

After getting out of Alberto’s house, she immediately started driving at a very high speed. Vega really hoped that she could get to Brazon Hospital as quickly as possible.
