Chapter 96 Who are You?
Coming out of the pharmaceutical factory, Lexie said goodbye to Peter.
As the car drove out of the park, she suddenly pulled over and quickly got out of the car, holding onto a tree on the side of the road for a moment of vomiting.
When she thought of Peter forcing her mother to die, she wanted to kill him by a thousand cuts.
Having just made a false start with him had made her stomach flip and sick.
In the Howard Group.
“Director Mitchell, this is your office.”
Jack led Lexie, through the compartment of the finance department.
“Come on, let’s stop the work in your hands, this is the new deputy director of finance, let’s all meet.”
The crowd in the finance department rose to their feet.
“Hello, Director Mitchell.”
Maybe because Jack had enjoined in advance, the people in the finance department did not show surprise at the fact that Lexie was a mute, but were all very friendly.
Lexie greeted them one by one and then went back to her office.
Alan had asked her to come here, but it was just a front, she didn’t really need to do anything herself, so she would not have any dealings with these people, her only job was to keep an eye on Mitchell Pharmaceutical Group’s movements.
There came a knock at the door.
When Lexie looked up, she saw a familiar face.
It was Lydia.
Lydia was not at all surprised to see her.
She stood up straight in front of her desk and brought a document to Lexie’s desk, smiling, “Director Mitchell, this is the information Mr. Alan asked me to send here, and also, he sent me here to ask what else you need?”
Lexie casually flipped through the document, then closed it.
[This should be sent to the legal department. Did you go to the wrong place?]
“Then maybe I sent it to the wrong one.”
Lexie looked at her quietly, [Did you do that on purpose?]
The handwriting on the note fell in Lydia’s eyes.
“You’re very clever!”
Lydia smiled cheekily, “Alan is not here at the moment, I’m too bored to be alone. I heard from the other secretaries that there’s a new deputy director in the finance department, so I thought I’d come and confirm my suspicions.”
[What’s your suspicions?]
“I saw you talking to him on the balcony the other day, and I thought then that you and he were not in a normal relationship, but I didn’t have time to ask, and now it seems that I was right!”
“You’re Alan’s wife, right?”
Lexie’s heart stuttered.
The young girl in front of her was not yet twenty years old, at her most naive and innocent.
But if she really was innocent, how could she be by Alan’s side?
She was suddenly alert, [What are you?]
“Me?” Lydia blinked, revealing a wry face and said, “You actually want to ask what is my relationship with Alan, right?”
Lexie couldn’t help but frown.
The girl’s eyes were so soulful, clean and penetrating, so well protected at first glance, that she could be so outspoken about what she saw.
“For my relationship with Alan, well, you can guess.”
Lexie frowned, [I can’t.]
And she did not want to.
“You’re angry?” Lydia suddenly winked at her, “But I’ve heard you have a good temper.”
Lexie froze.
A knock came at the door.
“Miss Hunt,” Jack came and was relieved to see Lydia, “Mr. Alan is back and looking for you, why did you come here?”
Lydia said, “I was bored, so I went around, what did he want with me?”
Jack gave Lexie a hesitant look, his voice unconsciously lowered.
“Mr. Alan had someone get the butterfly pastry you like.”
“Really?”
Lydia’s eyes lit up and she immediately headed out, suddenly remembering something when she reached the door, turned around and waved her hand, smiling, “Do you eat butterfly pastry?”
Lexie’s heart suddenly seized and she shook her head.
Lydia made a pity look and sighed, “Well, I’ll just have to eat it myself then, he doesn’t really like sweets either.”
Lydia’s figure disappeared in the doorway.
Lexie’s heart was stuffy, as if it was blocked by something, there was a feeling of not being able to get a breath.
It turned out that there really was a woman who could make Alan take good care of her.
In the evening, Lexie asked Myles to have dinner.
“I read the legal information you gave me, the lawsuits against the Mitchell Group are really tricky, and you can also see from these lawsuits that the Mitchell Group has most likely not come out of the previous financial crisis at all.”
Lexie was puzzled.
[But when I married into the Howard family, Peter made a deal with Alan and got a good amount of money].
“Maybe the hole is a bottomless pit and that money won’t plug it?”NôvelDrama.Org owns this.
[Although Peter promised to give me access to the inner workings of Mitchell Pharmaceutical Group, I have not been able to see the core finances, and the finance department is all his inner circle.]
“Don’t you worry, there’s always a way.”
Lexie nodded.
“Let’s not talk about that, you haven’t looked good lately, you’ve been under a lot of stress, I guess.”
[I’m fine.]
“From the first day I knew you, I knew you are a person who carries everything on your own, it’s weirdly boring,” Myles gave her a blank look, “Eat some meat and replenish yourself.”
With that, he took a chopstick of beef onto Lexie’s plate.
Lexie originally wanted to say thank you, but for some reason, when she looked at the beef on the plate, her stomach suddenly turned upside down and she covered her mouth.
“What’s wrong with you?” Myles straightened up, his gaze tense.
[Nothing, I’m going to the bathroom.]
Lexie squatted in front of the toilet in the cubicle and vomited dryly, but nothing came out but sour water.
When she got up, she was so dizzy that she could only stand for a while holding onto the wall.
The sound of high heels on the floor came from outside.
“Got it, Dad, you’ve said it hundreds of times, can’t I remember?”
The familiar voice caused Lexie to pull the door open with a start.
Edith?
Why was she here too?
Edith put her mobile phone on speakerphone and put it on the sink, answering the phone while doing her makeup in the mirror.
“It’s internal bid information, it is not easy to get it. I just got a dinner date with Alan today, so I can’t be too obvious.”
“You need to be quick, the deadline is just around the corner and you need to have it by the day after tomorrow.”
“I’m sure I’ll get it, you’ll just have to wait.”
Edith looked in the mirror and touched up her lipstick, “Dad, you still have to rely on me at this time, what can you expect from that mute?”
“No more talk, Alan is waiting for me to eat.”
“…”
After waiting for Edith to leave, Lexie sighed with relief.
Internal bidding information?
When she returned from the bathroom, Lexie was distracted.
Myles said with concern, “What’s wrong with you? You are not feeling well? I will accompany you to the hospital.”
