My Mute Wife

Chapter 119 You’re Pregnant

Lexie dry heaves for a long time and suddenly looks up when she hears Kevin’s question.

Following Kevin’s gaze, she looked down at the small of her back and fell into the abyss the instant she realized something with a jolt.

Alan was in the hospital room watching over Lydia.

She woke up in the middle of the night after the anesthesia had passed, saw the man sitting on the edge of the bed napping, carefully raised her hand and touched his face.

Alan opened his eyes all of a sudden, “Awake?”

Lydia withdrew her hand and moved it, to the point of drawing a cold breath.

“Don’t move, your leg is in a cast,” Alan squeezed her shoulder, “the doctor said you need to rest, don’t worry, it’s nothing serious.”

Lydia nodded a little and leaned back on the pillow to look at Alan.

“The horse I was riding, there was something wrong with it.”

“I know, I’ve already had someone look into it.”

“The horse I had, was originally Lexie’s to ride, so the other party’s target, should not be me.”

Alan’s brow furrowed slightly.

“Are you saying that someone is out to get Lexie?”

“Hmm.”

Lydia took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, raised her head on the pillow for a moment and dropped it again, adjusting it to a more comfortable position, “There are too many people who don’t want her around you, I’ve only been in J City for a short time and I’ve seen several, so it’s hard for me to deduce who it is.”

“Don’t worry about it, it will be investigated.”

Alan gave her a lift of the covers, “I’ll go call the doctor.”

Lydia suddenly took Alan’s hand, “Alan.”

Alan was slightly stunned, “What’s wrong?”

Lydia’s eyes were full of dependence, “No matter what, you won’t leave me alone, will you?”

Alan’s gaze was deep and strong, and he held Lydia’s hand tightly, “No.”

“Don’t think about it, get some rest, I’ll give you time off at school.”

“Hmm.” Watching Alan’s figure disappear in the doorway, Lydia’s eyes slowly sank down.

After Lydia’s hospitalization, Alan put off a lot of the work he could, and Lexie traveled back and forth between the hospital and the Howard Group every day.

At noon, Lexie was released from Renhe Hospital.

The sun overhead was hot.

She felt dizzy as she clutched the labs Kevin had given her there.

“You’re pregnant and it’s been two months.”

Kevin’s voice echoed in my ears, and I couldn’t believe it was true.

Her hand slowly brushed the small of her back, unable to believe that a new little life had been conceived here, her and Alan’s child.

Should I tell him?

Her mind was a mess, and she drove around downtown J City not knowing where to go, and finally went to her grandmother’s place.

Just after entering the neighborhood, I saw Patrick helping my grandma to walk in the neighborhood.

“Sis!”

Patrick’s eyes were sharp and he saw Lexie at once, waving from afar.

Lexie walked over with her bag, [Grandma, are you feeling better?

The grandmother smiled and patted the knee, “long time ago, said is a little superficial injury, does not matter, these days are to me at home bored.”

[Still need to pay more attention to rest, recovery is slow with age].

“I know, don’t worry,” said Grandma, standing up, pulling Patrick with one hand and Lexie with the other, “Come on, let’s go home and make dumplings today.”

Patrick immediately said, “Then I’ll go buy some leeks, Lexie likes dumplings stuffed with leeks and eggs.”

With that, Patrick handed Grandma to Lexie and ran away in a huff.

Looking at his back, grandma laughed, “this child, I just mentioned a sentence he remembered, look hairy, but also quite attentive.”

Lexie laughed and made no sound.

I was helping my grandmother walk towards the unit when an old male voice suddenly came from behind me.

“Amy!”

Lexie didn’t react at first, but when she saw her grandma stop, she remembered her grandma’s real name.

When I turned around, I saw an old man, wearing a blue work uniform and carrying a half-used, not new, worn leather bag, sizing them both up with a hesitant look on his face.

Lexie’s eyes lit up when she was stunned and recognized the old man in front of her.

[Grandpa David?

Grandpa David is one of the few memories she has of the time she spent with her grandmother and mother before being brought back to the Mitchell family.

Although she doesn’t remember much, she does remember when Grandpa David used to come back from town and bring her candy, little books, and all kinds of novelty gadgets.

Children always remember the happy things they did when they were young.

Grandpa David’s arrival seemed to awaken those memories at once.

The living room of my grandmother’s house.

After eating the third bowl of noodles, the old man across the street got red-eyed, “There was a flood at home, and all the houses collapsed, and I was left alone at home, so I thought I could only come to you, but J City is too big, and I searched for more than a month to find here.”

“Been looking for over a month?” Grandmother frowned, “How did you know we were in J City?”

“Twenty years ago, the license plate number you and Lexie were picked up from was J City’s.”

“It’s been twenty years, how can you be sure we’re still in J City?”

Grandpa David was slightly stunned, “I’m not sure, there is no other relatives, take a chance, if I can’t find you, I also find a place to work in J City, this life is also so.”

Grandma wanted to ask something else, but was stopped by Lexie.

[Where do you live now?

“Lexie this?” Grandpa David didn’t know about Lexie’s dumbness and was stunned to see her show herself the words typed on her phone.

Grandmother said, “Twenty years ago that fire, she burned her throat and has not been well.”

“How could this happen? J City has such good medical care and it didn’t even cure it?”

Grandpa David’s face was full of pain, “Lexie was such a cute girl when she was little, how come she had such a disease?”NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.

Lexie held up her phone, signaling Grandpa David, who hadn’t answered her question.

Grandpa David said, “I live not far from here, is a basement, by the way, I saw your community recruiting janitor this is looking for over, almost forgot the business.”

Said Grandpa David, turning out a crumpled piece of paper from his pocket, “This is what it says.”

“This community is looking for a doorman with a monthly salary of two thousand and all-inclusive room and board.”

Lexie took a look at it and showed it to her grandma as well.

“It’s our neighborhood,” nodded her grandmother, “but here the control is strict, the owners are demanding, not necessarily willing to accept foreigners, you can look elsewhere.”

Grandpa David instantly showed a disappointed look, “So?”

Lexie, however, waved her hand and enthusiastically told Grandpa David, [I’ll go and make a recommendation to the property and will give priority to the tenant or owner recommendation, so you’ll have no problem coming here.

Grandma suddenly pulled her under the table.

As soon as Lexie turned around, she saw her grandmother giving her a wink.

Lexie froze, not understanding what Grandma meant.

Shouldn’t you be happy to see your hometown?
