My Mommy Is A CEO

Chapter 40 Childhood Friends

“Lucia, come to me,” Arthur called to Lucia, who was dazed.

Lucia, still absorbed in her thoughts, was shocked by Arthur’s words. She blushed and stood up to walk to him.

Arthur naturally put his hand around Lucia’s waist and let her lean against him. After noticing that Lucia’s hand was a little cold, he picked up the remote control and turned up the temperature of the air conditioner several degrees. The neat and unhesitating action made Lucia laugh. “I was born cold. It’s actually not cold now.”

“No. Your hand must be warm, too.” Arthur persisted, even though he felt a slight dry heat as the temperature rose.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

Lucia was not going to argue with Arthur. She found that the papers on Arthur’s desk had been taken care of, so she chatted with him and looked at the decorations on the desk.

There was one of Arthur’s graduation photos, one of his family, and one of him with a beautiful girl.

Lucia did not pay special attention to it, but Arthur was holding the girl’s shoulder in the photo, and the girl leaned her head against his shoulder. The two of them smiled brightly and naturally and were very intimate. On the contrary, he looked more serious in the family photo, which showed that they must have a special relationship.

Arthur immediately knew which one she was looking at by following her eyes. He smiled after tasting Lucia’s complicated eyes.

Arthur spoke up and introduced, “She is my father’s best friend’s daughter. Although her name is very elegant, her personality is very careless.”

Lucia took a look at the girl in the photo and thought that she must be a cheerful girl with such a bright smile. Then she asked curiously.

“Is her name elegant?”

“Yes, my aunt named her Juliana, Juliana Knight,” Arthur replied with a smile.

“Juliana… It’s a very classical name.”

“Yeah, but her temperament doesn’t go with a classy name at all. Her mother believed in American education and sent her to our house at a young age. She is closer to my parents than to her own and now works abroad.” Arthur said again.

Lucia nodded and looked down at Arthur for a moment. The childhood friends were the ones that were most likely to develop a secret love for each other. Didn’t something happen between Arthur and her?

Lucia summoned up the courage to ask directly.

“She and I?” When Arthur heard Lucia’s question, he raised his eyebrows in surprise and then laughed out loud, as if he had heard some absurd remarks.

“What are you laughing at?” Lucia was already embarrassed, but was even more embarrassed by his laugh.

Arthur, with none of his usual calm, began to explain.

“She is more like a brother than a sister. What do you think is gonna happen to me and my brother?”

Lucia blushed when she heard this… It did seem like she was overthinking it.

But now that she was with Arthur, she couldn’t help noticing…

The blush on Lucia’s face deepened with visible speed. Arthur tightened his arms around her waist and asked with some satisfaction.

“Are you upset?”

Lucia was silent. As she wrapped her arms around Arthur’s head, she gently pulled her fingers at the back of his head, tacitly acknowledging and slightly resisting his “rascal”.

Arthur smelled Lucia’s fragrance, and his heart was filled with happiness.

Kyle’s opening of the door to the CEO’s office quickly stopped when she saw the two embracing at the desk, but she still disturbed them.

Lucia wriggled out of Arthur’s arms like a frightened rabbit. Kyle could only bury her head and spit out the words under pressure.

“Mr. Davies, time’s up.”

Although he still wanted to enjoy the warmth, he had to stop since the time was up. Arthur said to Lucia, “Lucia, let’s go downstairs.”

“Okay.” Lucia smiled and nodded, not asking what the main point of today’s conference was, because she trusted Arthur.

The fifth floor of Branch of Davonnis was the activity room of the whole Davonnis Corp. Except for the high-level meetings held in the dedicated conference room downstairs in Arthur, other company activities would be held here.

It was 15 minutes before the start of the event, and the reporters who had been given their passes had taken their seats early, surrounded by busy Davonnis Corp. employees and security guards, and the room seemed to be buzzing with noise.

Arthur took Lucia backstage. The staff was ready by the instrument, just waiting for Arthur to say the word.

“Lucia, you don’t have to do anything later, just prove the truth.” Arthur looked at his watch and said to Lucia.

“Okay.” Lucia gave Arthur a sweet smile.

Arthur took her hand and gave it a gentle, silent squeeze to give her comfort. When the time came, the head of the public relations department took the microphone to the stage, and the conference officially began.

“Members of the media, entertainment, and finance press, welcome to Davonnis Corp’s press conference today. I believe that you are familiar with each other, and you are also curious about the theme of today’s conference. When we informed you to attend the conference, we did not explicitly say it, just to give you a little surprise.”

A surprise?

As soon as reporters from all media heard this, they began to whisper in private, but soon the person in charge stopped whispering and he continued.

“The theme of the conference was announced by Mr. Davies, President of Davonnis Corp. Please give our President a round of applause!”

As soon as the manager finished speaking, Arthur released Lucia’s hand and took the microphone, and walked up to the podium. The meeting hall burst into applause. Everyone was waiting for Arthur to show up.

Arthur came on stage. The manager turned off the microphone and stood aside, giving Arthur the stage.

He stood in the center of the rostrum, shrugging off the prolonged applause. He glanced around the room at the reporters, his eyes ambiguous, before he spoke.

“Welcome to Davonnis Corp’s press conference. People invited to the scene, on the left side, were all the media and magazines that were involved in this morning’s coverage of Lucia’s dispute with Jacob.”

Arthur’s words caused an uproar in the room. Especially the reporters in the left half of the court. They did not look very good, while the other reporters in the right half of the court, who did not participate in the negative coverage, looked to the left.
